From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
it feels like the pearl clutching about the people who support Palestine being “antisemetic” is reaching witch hunt levels. I feel like every day I’ve seeing a new story about someone getting expelled from college or otherwise losing a big opportunity for just voicing distaste with genocide and the Zionist movement as a whole. I know all of us supporting Palestine will be on the right side of the history books, but it’s scary when basically every single one of us has someone higher up the food chain at their work or studies who is unabashedly supporting Israel and it’s genocide and ready to publicly play the victim if anyone disagrees with them. It’s hard to even make a post on your own social media about the situation without fear of some sort of repercussion.

What a deeply unserious group of people. They’ve use funding a genocidal state as a little political football for months… not for any real sense of concern.
But this slogan is somehow problematic enough to take action on. And let’s be clear. This is everything to do with erasing the idea of Palestine. That word is the real issue with the slogan.
You mean to tell me the Dems are a goddamn joke that stand for nothing? No way!
These people who we disagree with are trying to silence anyone who disagrees with them. What should we do? Silence them. Brilliant!
It probably has something to do with a government and media environment that blatantly ignores dissident voices. Like this isn't a new concept or anything.
Neither is the playbook the media is using right now. Downplaying and ignoring the majority of voices in the movement and focusing anything extreme they catch wind of. Regardless if it's actually coming from a protester or not. I noticed some counter-protester screaming "kill the Jews" being assigned to protesters on national media. So that's about on par.
I really don't want this to become like occupy where the "camps" or taking over space become the entire narrative. For the obvious reason that it takes the focus off where it should be. But it's also just going to burn up people's energy, etc. Having said that this is a perfect example of media bias at work. You could write a book on it. The playbook was so clear from the start.

I kinda think the camps have become the narrative. I think the students have maybe embarrassed the universities as much as they're going to and now people are focusing on college campuses and not Gaza. But I don't know. It's obviously tough when the media just sucks shit.

I mostly avoid 24 hour news but I assume it certainly has there. That's about all you can expect. They'll label you and clutch pearls about some dubious aspect that's far from central to what's going on. Then follow that line. NPR had some decent pieces on it this week but they stayed mostly away from the BDS aspect and the fact that some of these orgs are far older than Oct. 7 but it was something. It won't last.
And occupying only goes so far after Spring semester is over. The Colleges can just kick the can and try to outlast the controversy and never take any real actions on divestment, etc. I think Brown is the only one to make anything close to a concession on considering it?
That's not to say it was all in vein or the students are wrong for doing it. I don't believe that. There's plenty of ways this spreads the message locally and online in the short term. But changing tactics will be necessary at some point.

Oh it's not new by any means. That's part of the frustration I have in general is everything is running on a perfect cycle and just replicating what has happened before (though I get the media never really stopped). If we are going to be stuck in a spiral of disasters, I just wish we had new disasters sometimes.
The incessant complaining of antisemitism on college campuses, from the same people that were cool with Charlottesville seven years ago.
I’d go as far as to say that these people who are claiming college students are antisemetic are the ones who are actually antisemetic. “Thou must slaughter thy enemies women & children” is not a commandment, and genocide is not inherently part of Judaism. You can be against genocide and not against Jews, and to say otherwise is antisemetic.
You mean to tell me the Dems are a goddamn joke that stand for nothing? No way!
You mean to tell me that the ruling class is using the conflict in the middle east to further divide the serving class and we're still mad at a specific group of people instead of the government as a whole?
