Was coming here to post this lol. Thinking of getting a PhD to become a professor and I was doubting myself and seeing this idiotic comment boosted my confidence.
Thinking long term, what effects in the region might we see from the Iranian president dying in the helicopter crash? And how certain are they that the crash was an accident?

I think there was a blizzard going on? Probably safe to say it was an accident.

I read that it was more heavy fog and impending storms. My older son has an inordinate fascination with such things and told me that the helicopter they were flying in (a Bell 212) was also 40+ years old with questionable maintenance flying into weather that it was not built for. Lends to thinking that it was more likely an accident, but you never know with such things.
A thing to remember in Iran is that the President is actually second in charge to the Supreme Leader. Raisi was the logical and apparent successor when the current Supreme Leader left office. It appears the most senior vice president has been installed as the interim president pending another election. All in all, it is definitely a concern, but there appears to be a plan in place for succession.
Edit: Added most senior to vice president because I forgot they had twelve.

Incredible double standard. The U.S. and Co absolve Israel of its deep moral rot by scapegoating Netenyahu. Meanwhile, every child in Palestine is culpable for the actions of Hamas.
I agree with you Palestinians are all seen as Hamas but I also think it's important to clarify that it's Netanyahu and his government/army responsible. It also minimizes the window of opportunity for an Israel defender to play the anti semetic card when you focus on the people, not the country. Similar to how we refer to "Germany" and "Nazi Germany".
FYI the person that made an account just to call a board member an Hamas sympathizer is still trying to make new accounts. Vieux and I have been cock blocking them, but be on the look out.

Not sure who they are calling that but I’m sure the person is saying good things and is on the right side of this.

it was me lol. i just made a comment about how it was really cool that Hozier called for a free palestine during his BC set, someone called me a mentally ill anarchist, i told them to eat shit, and then a burner said fuck you and called me a hamas sympathizer

im glad swifties even are finally calling her out, she has done the absolute bare minimum for social justice throughout her career.
It’s not really doing the bare minimum. She remained deathly silent on all issues for the vast majority of her career and that’s fine. The problem is she told her fans she was now in a new activist state of her career yet on the toughest of issues, she crawled back to her silence. The convenient activist.

I get what you are saying but it’s a false equivalency from every angle.
All media is purposefully intermixing the terms Hamas and Palestine. Literally look back a few pages and see the Bill Maher / Bill Burr video someone posted. Maher does it immediately and within like 15 seconds and Burr called him out. This is a purposeful language aimed to dehumanize Palestinians and wrongly portray every Palestinian as essentially terrorists.
Also, Hamas was elected in like 2006. A majority of the non-killed Palestinians are under the age of 18. Palestinians today have never voted for Hamas. They did not choose their own quasi-governing power. Mixing terms Palestinians and Hamas has zero appropriate reasoning.
As for the Israeli government, yes they are responsible, but Israelis have continued to push Bibi and the Likud party back into power. Additionally, we have continued to see Israeli citizens blocking aid convoys to Gaza and Palestinians, Israeli settlers taking land and murdering Palestinians, destroying Palestinians agriculture, etc.
We’ve seen Zionists across the world (and on this board) literally advocate for withholding aid and starving out every Palestinian. They’re culpable and deserve some of the blame, not just the State of Israel.
