Green Day was just announced as a headliner. Pretty good start IMO. They’re touring with The Smashing Pumpkins, hopefully Osheaga can get them as well.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Hints seem to suggest the headliners are Green Day - SZA - Noah Kahan
Considering every fest had noah as a mid day act last year i feel like Osh goers will consider this a bummer
I do, but only because I don’t enjoy his music really. His upcoming tour is definitely a headliner tour. 3 sold out arena shows in Toronto. My wife loves him so this makes her happy.
So now that most of the lineups have come out I've honestly warmed quite a bit towards SZA and Green Day in particular. Booked a hotel, I'm like 95% on on going this year. I just hope for a great undercard with the best of Coachella/Bonnaroo/etc lol
Made a big list, posting it here for giggles. (But I'm sad Alanis is out with her dates)
Now that Lineup Release mania has mostly concluded with Coachella finally coming out and tour dates have started to come out more since the initial discussion 2 months ago, I thought it would be a good time to do some lazy sleuthing (while watching football and AGDQ) for a good handful of acts I've either been hoping for or expecting to be on the lineup this year (even if I don't personally care about them).
I'm basing the following on:
-Current listed tour dates (obviously) -Current Festival Appearances (I.E. they're active) -Pouring over the past Osh and Lolla 2023, 2022 and 2021 (in Lolla's case) lineups to determine likelihood of Osh vs. Lolla (Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, Mt Joy and Linda Lindas to be specific) -Gut feelings (whether good or bad) Quite obviously not every larger name mentioned will be there, there's only so many subs/only so much money to spend on them. But let's have a bit of fun hey? I'll of course be wrong on some of these and there will also be some surprises just not thought of (hey Osh, can you get Underworld out of nowhere please?) but most of this is logical enough
*Finally, a pre-explanation on The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas which I'm sure many of you have also come to the logical conclusion of: -Green Day headlined Lolla in 2022, quite obviously they're only doing Osheaga -Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and LL's are sticking with Green Day through their Toronto date on Aug 1st and their next Aug 5th date in Queens -The Linda Lindas played Lolla already in 2023. Seems highly impractical for SP's to go to Lolla instead of sticking with GD and LL's for Saturday (unless the money is unreal)
Sub and 2nd Line Possibilities:
-Justice (open dates, would be traveling from Europe fests in July to Osh/Lolla, but open dates. Most of us really really want this one. Can't wait for the new album -Megan Thee Stallion (just BC/Bottlerock/Bonnaroo so far, likely for at least Lolla. Good combo for Osh) -the Smashing Pumpkins (*Very Likely for Osh; No Lolla (Green Day HL'd 2022), Toronto Aug 1 w/ Green Day, no MTL, open. smashingpumpkins.com/tour/ -Weezer (nothing after some June dates in the UK. I'd just love this) -Metric (Just Shaky Knees so far; probably time for some Canadian/Osh favs to be back) -Maggie Rogers (nothing announced after Bonnaroo atm; played Lolla last year so pehaps less likely) -Omar Apollo (no tour dates at all atm, just have a feeling.) -Deftones (just Coachella/Primavera so far. Would be nice!) -Sum 41 (*Very Likely with their tour dates for Osheaga with Rimouski Aug 1st www.sum41.com/hell#tour) -Marshmello (playing Veld, played Lolla 2021 -Gesaffelstein (Nothing besides Coachella announced. Just a dream, hasn't been back since 2014 I believe?) -Pretty Lights (Bonnaroo/Electric Forest so far announced. Perhaps would want to headline but if Justice falls through, could be a sub) -Labrinth (Nothing after Gov Ball atm. Likely enough Osh/Lolla double weekender) -Rancid (See * above) -Mt. Joy (*Very Likely; Playing MPP in Maine late July, then Hinterland Sunday Aug 4th; played Lolla 2023 so no chance they go to Lolla instead) -Four Tet (open dates b/w Euro shows. Likely enough for Lolla, Osh combo plz) -Grimes (with a Coachella show, you never know)
The 'Lower' Lines (most of these would be 3rd line if they're there:
-The Linda Lindas (See * above; played lolla 2023) -Tom Morello (open, Euro fests till mid July) -Sublime (just a hope due to Coachella; open dates. Why not Lolla/Osh?) -the Offspring (*Wisconsin fest Jul 27, b/w Euro in Jun and Aug. Likely Osh/Lolla) -Miike Snow (Active; nothing besides Shaky Knees/Bottlerock so far.) -Geese (*Likely with tour dates, no MTL, in the area. Osh/Lolla) geeseband.com/shows/ -Orbital (Euro date Jul 25th. Lolla/Osh combo please) -Amyl and the Sniffers (open dates b/w Foo Fighters tour; likely Lolla/Osh combo) -Roisin Murphy (Bonnaroo; UK show Aug 24th. Likely enough to tour US/Canada b/w) -Gary Clark Jr (Bonnaroo, nothing after. Would be great) -The Mars Volta (Bonnaroo; please tour) -Thundercat (Europe until April, Bonnaroo; likely US/Canada summer) -Cage the Elephant (just Bonnaroo so far; likely enough for Lolla, Osh too?) -Sean Paul (Bonnaroo; active, summer free so far) -Black Country, New Road (Would be great; open summer dates) -Palace (open after Shaky Knees. Likely band for Lolla/Osh combo) -Lovejoy (Coachella/Bonnaroo, nothing afte Bonnaroo. Likely Lolla/Osh combo) -the Revivalists (Shaky Knees/BC, Montana fest mid July; played lolla 2023) -BadBadNotGood (Bonnaroo, open summer, likely Lolla/Osh combo) -Romy (doing the Euro June fests, then open. Lolla/Osh combo) -Orville Peck (*Likely; Hinterland on Friday, played Lolla 2021) -Marc Rebillet (just a hope; good gap in Euro shows during that weekend) -Bob Moses (just hoping; tour dates open for the summer) -Renee Rapp (playing everything, open after Bonnaroo. Likely Lolla/Osh combo) -NAV (Coachella; Canadian; I think did MetroMetro last time instead of Osheaga, so due likely) -the Drums (Coachella) -Sabrina Carpenter (Coachella/Gov Ball; played lolla 2023) -Young the Giant (Shaky Knees/BC. Feels like they'd play Lolla/Osh)
Probably at Lolla but not Osheaga: -Vampire Weekend (Hinterland Saturday HL; much more likely to travel to Lolla Thursday) -Hozier (Hinterland Friday HL, more likely for Lolla Sunday) -The Last Dinner Party (Hinterland Sunday; either Lolla or Osh, probably Lolla)
Out: -Alanis (conflicting tour dates. SAD) -Taking Back Sunday (Florida tour dates) -Purple Disco Machine (Croatia festival same weekend) -Barry Can't Swim (MTL show Feb 17th. Not a guaranteed no by any means but unlikely)
I've only gone the last 2 years but I absolutely love this festival. I want the best, deepest Subs/Undercard as possible. I've been spoiled in that I've done Coachella a good few times but this is our Canadian baby and I loved 2022 and 2023 very much. So that being said, I'm well aware many of the names I list won't be on the poster. Just did this for fun See y'all in August (unless I'm horribly wrong, or maybe in spite of me being horribly wrong?)
idk how they do it but every year they come up with an absolute banger of a lineup. its always the only major NA fest that compared to Coachella’s electronic bookings imo

im wondering if it's to do with having slightly more distance from live nation when it comes to their booking choices.
its interesting how overlooked this festival is on inforoo as well. i wonder if its mainly due to flight cost and most of the board living further to the south

especially considering how tickets are 284 USD (probbaly before fees but still)

Probably because Lolla is the same weekend more than anything.
Inforoo is the only reason that I've even considered this fest previously. Prior year threads were very informative on hotels, the metro and cool bars / places to eat.
Its a fantastic venue and weekend. Montreal in dope
I'm guessing that Justice is a Sub but who are the others?
