Any chance King Gizz is 2 on their day? That would feel a bit much, but in that discord screenshot Brad says he thinks the top 8 is the best since pre-Covid, then immediately says people seem excited about the idea of King Gizz and Justice.
I wouldn't be surprised. Goose is headlining that one festival, over booking String Cheese, and they're doing venues the same size. 2nd or 3rd line is definitely safe.

I mean with how much bigger they’ve already gotten since last time they played, paired with the fact they haven’t really done any classic festivals like Bonnaroo in a little while, I’d have to think surely they deserve it by this point

They are definitely very big right now, but my gut is 4th on their day.

Top 8 or bottom of the poster probably. I wouldn't be surprised at us considering them at least top 9 if they're at the bottom of the poster.
I really do think if Roo locked a big booking on them that they're ahead of the booking curve on this one.
Edit: the short version is, they keep selling out bigger and bigger venues. Bands like DMB and Phish already get a ton in ticket sales, but King Gizz has appeal outside of that scene (hell, I'd argue they're a lot more similar in how they make music to a lot of old legends - and iirc didnt even know the jam band scene once they got here). A lot more people are catching onto them than people realize. Even Josh Homme called them really good, and that's from Josh friggin Homme.

Every year I ask for Aphex Twin, and Bonnaroo Santa brings me Tipper or Four tet. Which I don’t hate, but like if we are booking ambient electronic with funky noises, gimme daddy rdj

Yeah that’s about where I’d think. Sub at Roo feels a little too rich. Cage and Maggie Rogers as subs last year were definitely smaller names than usual though.

I will say, within the past couple months I've seen Vampire Weekend and King Gizzard at the same amphitheatre, and Gizzard's crowd was much larger. I was in the pit for both, and Gizzard's seemed to have twice as many people. Also, there was a standing room only area that was very full which I don't believe was utilized for VW at all.
Just realized that if we do get King Gizz doing a set every night and Justice, there's a solid chance they'll overlap since I can't imagine Justice would be anything than a late night slot
I do not think Gizz will be on the Which even though I think they should be

I feel like if they did one of their more gimmicky sets (acoustic, rave, or even orchestra) that would take place in a tent, whereas a full set or marathon would get Which

Actually yeah I agree with this, would definitely prefer multiple nights with different genre themes, but a marathon set would also kick ass

they put mars volta/seven lions/thundercat on at the same time last year and that would've KILLED me had I gone lol. So I'm anticipating the worst even if I see both Justice and King Gizz on the lineup

nah they’re putting Justice on the What at 4pm
there is simply no way they dont get late night imo but i dont care as long as we get them

Anybody else thinking Tyler is a no go? Seems like his name would've picked up steam by this point in time but I don't see it getting mentioned at all whatsoever, at least not by any insiders or sources close to insiders. On the flip side, Brad Parker mentions or refers to MCR like practically every other day at this point. It feels to me we're more likely to have no rap HL than to have no rock HL. I think MCR fields that spot. Hozier as an alternative/folksy HL, and then whoever it may be on Sunday clinching the pop booking. Olivia or Miley, perhaps

MCR felt very possible, I had put them on some mocks, but Roobus recently said they are very unlikely. Personally hoping that's wrong, I think that'd be a cool show.

Roo Bus (or at least Daniel) also thought that Metallica could be a possibility, with 2 shows at Nissan already on the cards, and a show in Houston on the Saturday of Bonnaroo weekend. I think they might be getting kept in the dark about some stuff
Months ago, the owl said there probably won't be a rap headliner
Well there will be a few rappers and hopefully a legacy one at this or that 1am Saturday/Sunday am. I’m hoping it’s someone I want to see at least enough to split a set. I’ve seen Tyler 4 or 5 times and he’s great. But I want some ratchet. Who is it?
