There's literally no other old indie act for them to fill that line (they aren't interested in Slowdive clearly), so I think it will happen once they're active again, especially since they probably don't have that many more tours left in them.

Would Sade headline? Historically popular, cult following, hasn’t toured in a long time. But low streaming numbers in present day and no traction with the younger generations. Kind of like No Doubt in many regards. Maybe an “AND” booking?

I’ve gone back and forth on this. At first I thought yes, her last LA run had multiple arenas dates which is easily headliner level. Then people kept saying she wouldn’t reach the younger demo to warrant that which switched my stance to sub.
Then I realized those people were fucking wrong lol. A good chunk of Gen Z LOVES Sade. I think it would go over surprisingly well. Like if she were on this year’s lineup, I feel like she’d easily be the most buzzed headliner of the year. She would have a bigger impact on sales than No Doubt, no doubt.
I know that I’m a bit biased as a Sade stan here but as someone who is also on TikTok a lot and tries to pay attention to what younger gens are into, I’m nearly certain that the younger crowd would be into it. Especially considering the direction Coachella has been going with their top billed artists as of late, I don’t see why Sade couldn’t headline in 2025.

Sade would be a top 5 biggest headliners Coachella ever booked in terms of prestige. No if ands or butts about it. BUT, as much as we'd love her at Coachella. It probably isn't the best stage for her to be appreciated. I almost kind of wish they launched a one week multi genre fest at the Polo fields to cater to the slightly older crowd. Coachella is trying to do a balancing act of generations but it's not clicking as well as they thought. It's something I personally love about Coach, but I'm also that middle ground age that enjoys both older and younger music.

This is how I feel. My favorite concert of all time is Sade at the Ontario arena on her last tour. If I had to watch Sade at Coachella with someone behind me asking if Drake will come out it would turn to a royal rumble

OutKast Guns N’ Roses Paul McCartney AC/DC Roger Waters Prince Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg Beyoncé
I'd put Sade over Outkast, GNR, Dre & Snoop.
AC/DC, Prince, Beyonce are the only 3 I'd say would be 100% over Sade. Others are debatable.
Again, I'm thinking in terms of prestige, NOT popularity. Ex: Bad Bunny obviously pulls bigger numbers but his prestige isn't Sade's yet, longevity plays a role. Roger and Paul kind of? But I'm not sure if them solo is an asterisk or not.

I'm stuck focused on Macca and Waters, both of whom had stadium tours before and after Sade's last arena tour. The math doesn't math for me. It's not even a hypothetical.
