V0.5 (I left most of the artists from my 2024 mock on here that didn't play) I also spent about as much time formatting it as Coachella did for the 2024 poster
the prodigy and RXKNephew on one day would be lethal

Was halfway through typing out "there's zero chance they put Tiesto that high as a sub in 2024.." and then I remembered the Swedish House Mafia miscalculated butt-fumble of the century was only two years ago and it's unlikely they've learned anything from that monumental whiff and are doomed to repeat it soon (Returning to the Desert: HARDWELL b2b AFROJACK).
Re: Quasar, given the apparently higher attendance for W2 sets (obviously wasn't there W1, just heard Bibi and Honey Dijon/Green Velvet drew smaller crowds, and every Quasar headliner was fucking packed W2) I wouldn't be surprised to see them go more in a kx5/Above & Beyond type direction compared to some of the DJs I see being mentioned here, although I feel like Keinemusik is so tailor made for that stage and vibe that that is the one act I'd bet on the most.
idk yall said rufus had a headliner sized crowd which seemed rly not true. I saw a tiktok of someone walking up to the rail during innerbloom, but maybe they had a way bigger crowd at the start.
Catching up on the thread here.
Can confirm Rufus crowd was massive at the start of their set. Stayed for 40-45 minutes and then ventured off. Came back after watching Everything Always around 930pm and the crowd was 1/4th the size of when they began their set. Then they played Innerbloom and the crowd flocked in immediately.

This would never happen but I would kill for a Death Grips closing set in Sonora
That's a really great mock. The only thing I'd switch about is that they went really heavy on nighttime Sahara EDM and house sets this year with Dom, DJ Snake, Angello, John Summit, Peggy, etc and those sets were absolutely mobbed. No data on this, but would anybody be surprised if Angello/Dom/Summit matched the headliners crowd size at the same time? I find it hard to see them move back from that and for the highest billed sets to all be dubstep and DnB (although the latter genre is absolutely going to get some heavy love next year).
And if we're upset with "And..." verbiage for Rihanna, I made a mock I never released last year where I used "Queens of the Desert" for two acts (lana and I forget). There's a million things you can do.
Thanks! And I was struggling to find house DJs on the level of Dom Dolla, John Summit, Peggy Gou etc that haven’t been done recently. That pool, along with those big Outdoor electronic closers, is starting to run out IMO (at least the huge ones) which is why I could see them pivoting to something else.
The guy who books the Sahara doesn't give a shit about "every other year" though lol. Anybody from 2022 and 2023 is fair game. Fisher, 100%, he'll be there I guarantee it. Louis the Child, Vintage Culture, Lane 8, maybe a Martin Garrix return. Kaytranada? Who knows. I agree though, Chris Lake/Summit/Dom still seem absolutely on top of the house game right now with no heir apparent (unless Mau P is about to go on a second line worthy run) and they aren't going to bring those three back. EDIT: Fuck, Alison Wonderland definitely feels overdue.

It might be similar to the run we had form 07-10 with Ed Banger having their presence one way or another with their roster and Club 75.
Alright this is a hotter than hot take. But, as I age into my 30s, seeing acts suddenly unironically populate these mocks like Paramore, Usher, T-Pain, System of a Down, Rihanna that never would have been considered when I started going in 2011 really have me side eyeing these statements that early 90s legacy bands like Blur and Orbital were viewed at their time as nothing short of artistic genius. Like, I'm starting to think that everybody here cheering on Orbital at that time had some curmudgeonly guy next to them who was like, "Yeah, ok, sure, playing a song about Satan packs seats full of bros [or I guess yuppies back then] but the REAL electronic scene is over at blah blah blah".

It’s true with everything. A lot of people here are like that.
OK I'll put it another way. On the old Coachella forums, when Justice played in 2012 I was clowned over and over again for being excited that they were on the lineup because they were "for the bros". Now those people don't go to the festival anymore and all the 2012 Justice fans are the old heads and suddenly Justice is God tier, best electronic live act around, critically acclaimed, a booking coup, and its the new DJs that are "for the bros". This makes me question whether Blur was the pinnacle of alternative music, or just a very, very good band that y'all had fun to with your friends and with time they have turned into an untouchable band that cannot be criticized, when really there was some way smaller contemporary band at the time that was the "critics" band that we've all forgotten about.

This is definitely the "always has been" gif.
Duran Duran played in 2011 just even using your example.

Lane 8 closing out Mojave 2022 will always be one of the most special nights/sets of my life. Would die if he did Sahara, let alone an extended Quasar set.

Oh damn, Quasar is a way better shout for Lane 8. That's perfect.

Going to see him this Saturday again in San Diego! First time I physically got to see him was at Coachella 2022. I haven't missed a show in SoCal since (with exception to like 2 due to scheduling conflicts)

Blur? The whoooo hoooo guys? From the starship troopers trailer??? Orbital? The Mortal Kombat and Mean Girls guys?

I don’t remember Justice being criticized in 2012. For me that was peak “Ed Banger is more metal than cheese dick” and “I have Part of The Weekend Never Dies documentary played in repeat in my college dorm” era.
Shout out to 2012 though. Despite Justice being late and starting in the day time, The Hives - Justice - ATDI - Dre/Snoop combo was the most time I’ve ever spent on main.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

This is how I remember it too -- Justice has always been a fan favorite at Coachella to my knowledge. I'm not a raver, but all my best friends are the ex-boardie ravers who would have been the clowners... and most of them were at Justice! I don't doubt this happened but I don't think it was as prevalent as this post is making it seem, or my memory is way off.

I think it might've been because Justice was on Main so it was that whole deal of them turning into an act for the bros cause they werent in Sahara anymore.
The whole festival loved Justice in 2012, the old boardies definitely did not. There was so much fucking hate for the electronic lineup that year (on the forums, not in real life). If I could find malcolmjamalawesome's "Guide to Sahara 2012" post somewhere on the internet it would be the highlight of my year because it was brutal.

I think the only act I saw in Sahara in 2013 is sebastiAn, which checks out.

Avicii was the one who had the toughest weekend since he had to go up against Tupac

this was definitely more of an MJA thing than a board consensus lol. I remember Justice being pretty popular on the old boards and don't remember any specific hate towards them that wasn't trolling.
