I think the fully equipped kitchen, pool, grill, free parking, laundry and shopping center 5 mins away from where I stayed makes it easier to not be by the casino even though Ill stop there on the way to gamble. 🤷🏻♂️
Only thing Morongo doesn't have out of this is a full kitchen. I'm literally just trying to let people know that there are great inexpensive options out there and I'm being called an unemployed broke deadbeat by random people and then have you tell me I'm an idiot for driving 5-10 minutes further than Palm Springs to stay at a resort instead of an Airbnb.
story time, I had a room booked for Saturday night of 2006. Went to Coachella, Daft Punk went late, parking was a nightmare, and we didn't get to morongo until after 2 or so. They had a check-in policy that you had to be there by midnight that we didn't know about so we were left with no where to stay because they gave away our room. Decided to drive all the way back home (luckily just Temecula which is less than 90 minutes away) and then drive back out for Sunday by around 4pm.
Yeah Phoebe’s show is way higher energy than Lana’s. I Know The End gets the people going.
Big time, absolute banger live too. Scott Street sing along where she has runs into the crowd to have people sing along into the mic also ups the energy.
Phoebe was shockingly great live, both on her own and with boygenius. But I don't see her getting anywhere close to headlining considering those were two of the most under attended outdoor evening sets I've ever seen. Maybe if she was headlining, more people would go for her, but if you put that amount of people on the MainStage, it would make make Blur look crowded.
I did El Dorado for the first time this year and my honest opinion is that: - Is it noticeably better than car camping? 100% yes - There was never a line for showers and the charge stations were never full - toasters / microwaves were a nice touch - flushing toilets is a game changer - still gets hot but definitely not AS hot in those cabins. It at least shields you from the sun
BUT
I don't think it's worth almost $1800 per person if you're doing the 2 person cabin. Subtracting the price of the wristbands, you're paying about $1200 for the weekend per person on lodging. About $300 per night.. I feel like you can get better with airbnb/hotel if you book early enough . The cots aren't what I'd call comfortable and dust is still a thing in them
I'd only recommend it if 1) it's in your budget and you're not too worried about "best deal" and 2) you strongly prefer camping for the closeness vs commuting in and out every day
Agreed on this for the most part. I did a 4 person tent, sold my two extra festival wristbands, and kept the larger space for me and my partner. It came out to around $1400 for the weekend for me subtracting the price for the wristband and with the extra space I thought it was worth it. The 2-person lodges are cool but they look nicer on the outside than the inside IMO. They seem a little cramped to me but I didn't stay in one.
Another thing I will mention is that you have ins and outs with your car in El Dorado, so if you want to visit a friend at a hotel or go get breakfast or something, that's an option and I think that's worth it/cool.
Re: the cots, I pushed them together and put a queen mattress on top of them and was pretty comfy all weekend.
One con I will mention for the 4-person tents is that there are only a couple that have an unobstructed lake view, which is kind of a bummer. I got one, so it was fine with me, but I don't know if I'd feel the $1400 was worth it if I was in one of those long rows of tents without a lake view.
That being said, after renting a campervan and doing preferred camping last year, and doing El Dorado this year, if I had to choose again I'd choose El Dorado. I had way more space and it just feels nicer in there.
Good call on the ins and outs! Totally forgot about that and I agree. The el dorado parking lot is so small too, so that it's super quick to get in and out of too. Super clutch for getting food/groceries/supplies so you don't have to pay 20 dollars for a breakfast burrito inside lol
The cabins weren't what I'd call spacious but I didn't feel too crammed either (We honestly didn't bring a ton of stuff though). Only felt small when someone was changing because you're def going to be in each other's space lol, but sleeping felt like enough. The inside of the cabins could def be nicer for the price though, the tents looked nicer inside. I will def try out your mattress idea if we do El Dorado again next year!
I absolutely felt more energized staying in El Dorado than I ever did at a hotel or airbnb or car camping. I got way more sleep than I did with car camping, and didn't feel gassed from commuting with an airbnb/hotel

I don’t think she’ll headline either, but if Boygenius was this year instead of the prior year their crowd would have been WAY bigger.

This is Dua's "Anti", in that it arrives to the public with huge expectations that could not possibly be met, and it's average results will be reviewed with more of a sharp and critical lens. It's tepid response will convince Dua and her team to diversify their stardom (Rihanna with Savage X Fenty; Dua will double down in fashion/acting). Also, Kevin Parker is somehow involved in both.
Yeah I gave Dua’s album a listen this morning and on my first listen it was very meh. Not a ton stuck out to me. I’ll give it a couple more listens to see if more sticks.

The fact that it’s ann old fashioned 36 minutes and not some streaming optimized two hour Taylor Swift slog basically guarantees it’s gonna do bad numbers.

her profile has jumped considerably since then, though, especially among an age demographic that's probably pretty relevant for Coachella. the comparison to Blur is poor simply due to the difference in demographic; i'd wager that the majority of Blur's US fanbase (small as it is) consists mostly of older music fans not necessarily likely to attend Coachella.
i dont think she would headline, but a new album + the high profile success of Boygenius makes me think she could be a sub.
On Dua…I was not a fan of the album on first listen last night.
2nd & 3rd listens this morning…I love it! The production is top notch, it’s definitely a departure from FN which I am so happy about because I was so over the disco sound by the time the Barbie song came out. It’s more chill and it’s definitely not made for the American public lol. It’s going to be massive in Europe. I could see it being a hit with Gen Z though since they love their indie, mellow sound.
I think this is a much better pop album than Taylor or Ariana’s releases this year. I also can’t wait for her to (hopefully) release an extended version because the extended versions of Houdini, Illusion, and Training Season are so much better.
Standouts: Houdini, Training Season, Maria, End of an Era, French Exit, Happy for You

But it’s good and y’all are dumb.
I think at least one song ccouldve been longer. Anything for Love being 2 1/2 mins feels way too short. Like is it gonna be an interlude? Houdini closes main set with her disappearing under the floor. Dua saying she wrote 90 songs or something absurd will make anyone wonder what the rest of the songs were though.

It's so frustrating how that song stops right when it's getting really good.
Agreed and I don’t think she’s 3. All the ladies from boygenius are back working on their individual projects, could see Pheobe being number 2 on her day for the next time Billie headlines or someone like Olivia. Or when Chappell returns for her headliner performance
