She’s headlining Glasto. She’s headliner or bust now. Her album sales literally don’t matter.
And nobody ( outside the uk ) is going to be able to watch that in real time when it happens which is a bummer. How talked about is that set gonna be if its not accesible. That was kinda the deal when she played Lolla. Her set wasnt streamed and by all accounts had the largest crowd all weekend.
And yeah, she has her dad running thee show now and are they just treating this as a learning experience?
Dua is less than a year from one of her biggest hits ever (Dance the Night), and would without question, have a bigger crowd than Tyler or Lana did. Did this album take her to the next level? Not necessarily, but unlike Doja Cat, I assume she would actually play her big hit songs of the past if she did play Coachella, so there's plenty of material for a great set.

The funny thing to me about the Dua reactions here to me are that there are significant reactions at all. That album was...fine. I'm surprised anyone could feel either strong love or strong hate for it. A bit bland, generally pleasant, no songs that hit me on first listen the way Houdini did. Nothing here makes her less of a headliner (though I'll admit I'm less excited about her headlining now). Maybe it'll grow on subsequent listens.
Also a reminder that pretty much every time an artist comes out with quotes about how different their new album is going to be with comparisons to left field artists like Massive Attack, it's almost always bullshit. Except for the Killers talking up Bruce ahead of Sam's Town.
I have to agree with you here. The album is fine. I don't hear the Massive Attack inspiration. But her catalogue is strong enough and it'll be a fun set on Main Stage instead of an utter snooze like LDR.
Exactly this. Are people expecting Dua to pull a Doja and NOT play the hits? We’re still going to get Physical, Levitating, Dont Start Now, Hallucinate, etc. And given that she’s likely gonna have something to prove, she’ll go all out.

I was there at lolla. It was boring. I like some of her songs fine I guess but mainstream top 40 bubblegum pop was never really my thing and seeing her live didn’t change my mind. It was boring and no one around me seemed really into it either.
Did anybody happen to screen cap the alleged Dua Lipa tour dates that were up on Coachella subreddit for about 10 minutes on maybe Thursday? If they were fake, somebody better get a graphic design and/or tour routing job off it because they had both down to a T. Anyway, I want to say it had her doing two shows at the Forum in January.

they were fake if it's the one that was also on twitter. it had her doing shows back to back for 5 days not once but twice throughout the tour. she has stamina but not that kind of stamina.

This Tommy Richman song is about to blow all the way up. Summer anthem. If you're mocking, this feels like the road to a third liner on next year's poster. Major 90s R&B party vibes for sure.

That song fucks. All the cool kids are on it in NYC

It's like a good version of Robin Thicke who got an early Timbaland Aaliyah beat. I fucking love it. He's also wearing the jacket in the lyric video from a tiny local Bay Area streetwear company I love, huge look for the designer...I have the same one but he looks way cooler hah.

You mean this one?
The 9-run days in there suggests to me this is fake
Best act this year was No Doubt. Last year, it was Chemical Brothers. Clearly, it doesn’t matter what snoozefest of a current pop headliner they have next year, it’s whatever 90s act they book that will be bringing the real heat.
We don't typically really get anything until July-ish. I don't think they start with anything outside of like a Jamiroquai/Aphex Twin or a headliner before July/August.

this isn't true. I'll be tuning in again although maybe not for Dua. VPN and the "license" aren't hard to get set up.
Duh. But you cant have any faith into people sailing the high seas to watch her. Glasto really needs to change their policy on this and theres a decent amount of demand that if they made it PPV thats a new source of income which the fest really needs.

it's because BBC is public and they think it would subsidizing the rest of the world if they made it available worldwide, but if they put it up somewhere they could get all that ad revenue and it would more than make up for it. Wouldn't expect anything else from the country behind brexit though.

Unless they got cold feet after the livestream they did in 2021 which glitched and they had to open up to anyone. Cause it was with some small company that seemed to have had it together and they dropped the ball. I mean clips go on youtube but its not making the impressions they thing. I mean really I think Dua just tried to ensure her career will be safe in the uk and thats enough by only choosing to do Glasto and not Coachella on top of that.

Not sure what you mean by license but when I tried in the past, they detected my VPN and blocked me no matter what part of the UK I set it to.
for the BBC iplayer app you need an account which will ask for an address in the UK. If that address has TV services they paid an annual fee which gives you access to iplayer. Once you have an account that's validated you can sign in with either a VPN or often you can just spoof your location to watch.
I'm sure they've blocked some VPN IPs but the VPN providers are always changing them so it's a game of cat and mouse sometimes. My company has offices in the UK so I always have that in my back pocket if my VPN service has any issues.

I was thinking about this. There still hasn't been a single US date announced. If a tour ever gets announced over the next few months, and LA is included, I figure she's out. But if the lack of shows continues, then I imagine it's because nothing gets announced until after the Coachella lineup.
I feel like if a US tour was pending for this summer or fall, we'd have heard something by now. Even if unofficial and just a rumor or leak.

Just announced ACL, but I agree it doesn’t really matter.

It’d be really, really weird to me to wait 7 months to announce a tour after releasing an album, but maybe!
