Olivia def seems like a good bet for next year, not something I would plan on seeing but it makes sense. I keep hearing she’s like the female saviour or rock for Gen Z but it’s just giving me Avril? I don’t get it, but it’s not for me ha.
I don’t see Olivia getting booked until 2026 or does she already have a new album in the works for next year?
Being the first North American festival to snag her for a full set would be a pretty big deal, new album or not.
I get what you're saying but her having draw is not the same as her being good live, a lot of people didn't want her to headline because they believes she would be boring and she was. This doesn't make objections to her headlining invalid.
For me 2022 wasn't a strong year, overall. There's always going to be highlight sets every year and that year mine were The Marias, Turnstile, Denzel Curry off the top of my head. On paper the undercard was definitely stronger in 2022 but 2024 was more fun for my experience. The headliners weren't amazing to me. Harry was cool but would've been much better if Harry's House came out before Coachella. Billie is always good but I'd seen her before / she played a lot of SoCal shows already leading up to Coachella. SHM x Weeknd was as boring as Lana's set to me, truth be told. SHM was really dry and I don't enjoy Weeknd live very much.

It’s subjective. Seems she didn’t win a ton of fans, but all her fans whom I spoke to were over the moon with her performance. I wasn’t trying to do that after Justice for more than a song or two but I really enjoyed it on the livestream the following week.
Additionally it bears need repeating that she most likely pushed more tickets than any other individual act on the lineup. As in “I saw her name so I bought tickets.” Just as well, there seems to be strong consensus that this trio wasn’t the first choices, particularly Tyler and doja.
Plus as a Lana hater, I still think it's clear she was "Plan A" - by her own admission she was booked almost a year in advance. Based on big leaks and public info, the OG plan seems to have been Lana/Tyler/RATM and they were chasing Stones, Talking Heads, Dua, Taylor for the 4th. RATM dropped out, they couldn't get their fourth whale, so they ran to Doja and threw $ at No Doubt. They always wanted Lana, but clearly also were hoping that they would have a much bigger headliner too.
I'm a really big Lana fan, think Norman Rockwell is one of the best albums of that decade, and have huge respect for her recorded output across her whole career. But, the show at Coachella had so many fundamental problems. I wasn't surprised it wasn't great, but the setlist didn't play to her strengths, and clustered a lot of similar sounding songs in the first half, and very low key slow songs in the second half. At least week 2, the second half was much stronger, "Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd." was beautiful, and "Candy Necklace" was really nice, but on the ground, people were definitely flagging. Almost all her songs are a bit low key, but she picked some of the most low energy, stripped down tracks, where something like "The Greatest" or "Mariners Apartment Complex" would have been a nice energy boost.
It feels like a lot of Coachella headliners who underwhelm tailor a show to their fans (like Lady Gaga or Doja Cat did), unaware that you're dealing with a crowd who is very tired and probably not there just to see you. Anecdotally, it seemed like No Doubt had the most people who were there just to see them (and were wearing Gwen inspired outfits, etc.), while Lana pulled the second biggest crowd.
2022 was a great lineup, just the headliners sucked (didn't see any of them except the weeknd/shm)

This might be one of the most insane lineups ever…..wow
Names I would KILL to have at Coachella next year (funny enough most were all on my mock lol so I know I am on trend for electronic lol)
Rüfüs, Nala, Kelly Lee Owens, Interplanetary Criminal, Soulwax, AG Cook, Four Tet, Jamie XX, Luke Alessi, PRETTY GIRL (holy fucking shit), Boys Noize, VTSS, Tinlicker, Sammy Virji, Shygirl, Sara Landry
The R&B selection for Coachella is usually pretty sub-par, but I actually thought it was amazing this year. Most of the crowds were well attended and fully engaged too. 2025 R&B/Soul/Afrobeats wishlist: Rayvn Lenae, Cleo Sol/Sault, Baby Rose, Yuna, Moses Sumney, Brent Faiyaz, Sabrina Claudio, The Internet, WizKid, Adanna Duru, Crush, mix in some 90s and 00s
