1 - the Prodigy 2 - Darkside 3 - Missy (I don't care if it's all lip synching truly) 4 - Gustavo Dudamel & LA Phil Edit: Charli #5 5 - Polo & Pan 6 - Post Malone 7 - Basement Jaxx 8 - Kraftwerk 9 - Above & Beyond 10 - the Go-Go's
HM: FKA Twigs, Beth Gibbons, Mustard, Yo Gabba Gabba!
(Things that'd be on the list likely if I hadn't seen them already but am super excited to see again: Misfits, Gaga, Green Day, Parcels, Amyl & the Sniffers, Jimmy Eat World)
Re: lip syncing, was it just a rumor then that Coachella had a clause that states you have to sing a certain % live? Would never know it watching the Cannons performance, but still wondering…

Saw her twice now (pemberton 2015 & the last tour).
There was definitely some lip syncing in 2015, but I think the last tour just had a backing track for the choruses etc. Her live performance has improved a lot, quite excited for her coachella debut.
I think this is genuinely the only list that looks remotely different from everybody elses. Congrats on being different in a sea of convergent hipsters.
Why are people so excited about the LA Phil? Has anything come out about what that show will be?
Partially some people are assuming John Williams may show up as a guest, partially Gustavo Dudamel is leaving the LA Phil in 2026, partially I think the uniqueness of having any kind of classical music at Coachella
Think the more interesting question isn't Top 10, but:
(A) Artist who is mentioned the most in these lists for street cred that nobody is actually going to in real life (B) Artist who is rarely mentioned in these lists for street cred that many will go to in real life
Regardless my #1 for the whole festival unironically is horsegiirl

Dudamel is in his final season as director for the LA Phil. He has had a notable impact the last 15 years in LA. This is really one of those LA things that hopefully people dont just gloss over. Its a great way to start his farewell. And I mean, I see zero reason John Williams doesnt show up.

I will always remember the "PASIÓN! GUSTAVO!" banners in LA when he came to town while I was still living there, and will probably be exclaiming "PASIÓN! GUSTAVO!" way too much that weekend

I can think of 93 reasons.
This^ He wasn’t able to conduct over the summer and had to pull out of the annual bowl shows. They’re continuing the John Williams celebrations at the Disney concert hall next year with Gustavo conducting so there’s a high likelihood we at least get a song or two.

Yup. I'm sure JW would want, health permitting, to make an appearance during the philharmonic season at some point.
Thinking he feels obligated to guest at a Coachella set like he's Metro Boomin is a bit fanciful.

A) Top two candidates definitely FKA Twigs and Beth Gibbons. On Twigs, I will fully admit I tried to catch her in the Gobi in 2015 and left within 15 minutes to go back to Jack White. On Beth Gibbons, maybe if I was run down on a Sunday evening I would be there the whole time, but Saturday is my favorite post-pandemic Coachella day and I'm not sure I'll be in the headspace to carve out an hour for that show
B) Hmm, not sure really how many will fit since they didn't book too much embarrasing shit. Zedd and Benson Boone are the two big ones there, but won't be at those. I'll definitely be at Missy to Gaga in full if that counts? Maybe even catch a bit of Post before I leave vs. being in the Yuma or whatever until closing
Another question is "Artist who you thought would get more hype but isn't getting much." I'd say:
-Circle Jerks - SoCal punk legends and I've heard almost nothing about this booking
-Sam Fender - literally headlined Reading / Leeds with The Killers and Billie Eilish last year and will probably play main to nobody at like 3 PM here
-Clairo - She's subbing Primavera and kind of buried on line two and could have new music out
It could be a really cool show but I doubt a composer moving from LA to NYC is a momentous occasion for this board.
It being his farewell “tour” is irrelevant to me as someone who doesn’t live in LA. I’m just drawn to the idea of having a classical music set on the fields. I think it will be really cool and a nice change of pace from lots of the other stuff I plan to see. I will add that this show is probably the most likely to be fucking ruined if a bunch of people gab non-stop next to you which I’m concerned about if they play earlier.
