Are these wook festivals really finally moving past dubstep/wook/chainsmokers-Edm sounds or am I becoming washed because they’re starting to book solid lineups that warrant the experience
If they are, the wooks are not happy, I thought this lineup looked pretty good at first glance or at least better then Eforest had booked the past few years, but I’ve never seen such a negative reaction to their lineup on Reddit.
Eforest was one of my first camping festivals in 2014, it’s wild to see how much the lineups have changed since then for this festival.
I live a couple hours from the fest and this is the first time I’ve thought about going. The general consensus from people I know that go every year is this sucks. They would prefer the lineup to just be the same shit every year.

I went to EF once, in 2022. The festival experience itself was good, but it blew my mind how little people cared about the music. Nearly everyone I talked to, upon asking “who are you excited to see,” would say that they hadn’t even looked at the lineup yet, or that they didn’t know anyone besides Griz.
Same folks would then talk about how Coachella’s just for influencers, and nobody’s there for the music.
Anyway I’m sure they hate this lineup, if they’ve looked at it that is.

I feel like whenever I see someone discussing EF it is always about the "vibes" which I assume means drugs in the woods.
How does DJ Heartstring keep putting out so many bangers, I have never prayed for a Do Lab act harder in my life and they should have been in the Yuma this year.

There’s a small section of people around here who go to EF, Faster Horses and Movement with the only goal being to get fucked up and talk through whatever act is playing. They’ll be laser focused on seeing one artist and won’t even pay attention to them while they’re on. I once went to a Dave Matthew’s show to attempt to rebound with a gal after a bad breakup. I’d never seen so many people who acted like they were rabid fans talk through 2 sets. Dave Matthew’s opened for Dave Matthew’s with an acoustic set, which was even funnier to watch people talk through.

Just wait until they release their ID "Staring Into the Sun". So so good, might be their best yet tbh.

Ayyye good looking out, I hadn't heard that yet, another banger. Although I think the Alone Again song they dropped a few days ago is even better.
GV raided Portola for so many quality undercard acts and yet this one didn't happen somehow, bummer. I don't think they are a fit for Quasar, so still placing hope for Do Lab.

My favorite influencer encounter was last year during Anyma. Some guy trekked to the middle of the crowd, stopped right next to my group, and started hitting poses while his friend took pics of him with a full sized ring light. Not 1 second spent watching the show, in and out in 30 seconds.

True story, one time on Reddit somebody was ranting about a guy they saw at Sufjan Stevens in 2016 who was looking at his phone sadly the entire set, and then when Sufjan would start playing a song, he would yell "Holy shit, I love this song!" and get all excited for five seconds, and then look at his phone sadly for the rest of the song. Everybody was like "what the fuck is wrong with that guy, influencers should avoid Sufjan, etc"
It's just that...this was totally me, lmao. A huge, huge deal at work I had been working on for a year fell through spectacularly and unexpectedly a few hours earlier and I was depressed af and even left Coachella early that Friday, and this is exactly how I spent the entirety of Sufjan, which was my most anticipated show.

The Dave Matthew’s show was 15,000 people doing this. Except their phone was coke and the deal falling through was the person they were trying to fuck.
Since I made it to Irène Drésel's top 500 listeners on Apple I guess it's my duty to yell from the rooftops thay she needs more people listening to her absolutely stellar album Rose Fluo and I very much hope she is a miracle Do Lab act
