no i agree, i love Frank and am probably one of the only people who enjoyed his coachella set. i just meant like, after his set bombed and people ranted and raved about OMG TBA I’m surprised theyd do another super low energy hl the following year
Having been screwed over by Frank for Weekend 2 and seeing that awful Lana set, I’d still be down for a chill headliner. I just dunno what modern artist would be up my alley. I think it’d have to be a legacy act like Fleetwood Mac.
Are they ever going to play again without Christine? It's bad enough they were touring without Lindsay... I'm pretty sure they're done done.
I'd also be stoked on a SZA headline slot I think she deserves it. I also think we're slated for the return of the great Cardi-B herself.
Rihanna too busy getting piped down on a pile of money, I fear

Cardi has struggled to get a hit since Up or WAP. I fear her chances at headlining are slipping every year. She is still insanely popular but she kind of missed the wave. If she had put out her 2nd album right after WAP, she probs would have headlined 2022

I think it’s time for more of the indie bands to make a statement on the lineup again. Tired of having these one off festivals that goldenvoice do. They can only recycle so many times at these one day shows and these bands haven’t played Coachella in years

Yet strangely they keep selling well so they wont stop til its not viable. They havent recycled that many of these acts and theres plenty to keep booking

“Stop paying us a shitload of money to play 40 minute sets on a Saturday in SoCal, and asking us to do it again every few years. Please instead put us on your flagship festival lineup, and schedule us against Rihanna, Fisher, and Lil Yachty.”

i do really miss when indie had much more of a presence in festivals. even boston calling circa 2014-2019 when i first started going to festivals had some really cool and unique lineups but now it feels like aside from Coachella everything books the same fuckin upcoming livenation artists.
I miss seeing acts like Vampire Weekend, Passion Pit, Death Cab, Jenny Lewis, Sky Ferreira, Bon Iver, TV on the Radio, The xx, Sigur Ros, Mac Demarco, Mitski, Car Seat Headrest, Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus etc on your average festival lineup

You really would have loved Primavera LA lemme tell you... it was a weekend I will never forget

You’re probably right about Fleetwood. It’s sad their last tour with Christine didn’t include Lindsay.
going out on a limb here, if this fontaines dc album does well i think they could be at the end of the second line
they sold out their shows in DC almost instantly. Starburster is probably their biggest hit to date. Have comfortably surpassed idles in terms popularity at this point, could definitely get some surprisingly high billings next year.

Best free weekend for half of La that won giveaways.

i went to primavera 2022 both weekends and had the time of my life. I love newer artists dont get me wrong, its just that now barely any of those acts play the mainstream fests anymore. Coachella is still the best festival ive been to in every single way but Prima 22 was prob the greatest lineup that will ever exist
SZA is relatively high energy, live, for an R&B act. She likes to bounce around and gets a little hyped sometimes. I do hope they actually wait until her next album cycle, though. I think she has an EP coming this year, but, they can wait till '26 and be fine.
Kind of tired of the post-covid trend of the headliners going off of old projects / projects that they already played extensively in SoCal (not counting a "legacy" act like a No Doubt). No new albums from any of the HLs in 24, 23, and Weeknd was the only one in 22.

Harry Styles debuted songs in 22 with an album out a month later? Lana's next album isnt out til the fall so that was never gonna be a thing. What you really want is no headliner to perform at all leading up to a Coachella appearance and to release their album mid March so you have a month to listen to it. Good luck with that.
I think Coachella has stumbled on a scheduling format that works for everyone with past/legacy headliners > newer popular headliner.
Gorillaz > Bad Bunny Bjork > Frank (or Blink and OMG TBA) No Doubt > Tyler
Seeing No Doubt with the biggest crowd shows there’s a solid appetite for this type of festival programming. Book a returning or legacy headliner, then let a newer popular act close, while counter programming with solid electronic acts on Outdoor and/the tents.

I feel like LCD Soundsystem and/or Nine Inch Nails make the most sense for this spot next year if they're pulling from past headliners. Could see The Strokes too if they have a new album in 2025.

At this point in terms of the EDM genre, we're going to be seeing a lot of recycling of artists (as we have) throughout the last 5-6 years. Quasar should have a lot of creative b2bs similar to this past year, which I think was spectacular.
I am hopeful for a Rufus Du Sol LIVE set at Outdoor next year. Another wishlist for me would be having Kaskade return back to the polo fields officially, I think I would lose my mind lol (he's one of my favorite of all time).
Sidenote: If you didn't see his EDC set last night, here you go. It's more of dark techno set rather than a redux.
I would think Rufus & Soulwax are fairly likely next year given Portola’s lineup.
Not convinced NIN plays main stage next year. They’d be Outdoor closer similar to Chem Bros or Gesa. They’re just not as big as No Doubt or Blink.
I’m talking headliners that can play arenas and would be headliners at other festivals - Depeche Mode, The Cure, Madonna.
Madonna chose to play arenas on this tour but the production was meant for a stadium. If we get the NIN/ Trent & Atticus combo Im sure theyll both be on Outdoor with extended time. I hope Trent being there W2 this year was a chance for them to pitch a return.

I would kill for Kaskade to come back. 2025 marks the 10 year since his last Coachella performance. I have low expectations that he will be on the lineup but I still have hope.

NIN shouldn't be compared to No Doubt or Blink, which were Coachella headliner-level. They're more akin to Blur or Gorillaz. I'd be a bit surprised if they weren't a sub, which would leave them on the main.

Exactly I feel Nine Inch Nails would be an incredibly similar booking to Blur or Björk being subs in the past couple years. They've all three headlined the fest in the past.
