They always book older acts passed their prime. They keep booking Chromeo every time they drop an album for some reason and will continue to despite them going from Main Stage at sunset to a half filled Gobi in the span of a decade.
Nero is a much more exciting act than Chromeo. It’s crazy that this is only Nero’s 3rd album. I’d personally be way more pumped to see Nero than 80% of the electronic acts booked 2024.
I can definitely see Tove Lo coming back to Coachella next year. While she was never able to maintain the success from Habits and Talking Body, she has a pretty large cult following. Any festival she has been at the last 2 years drew pretty solid crowds and she has yet to deliver a bad album.
The new Confidence Man single is SO GOOD. They feel like an obvious booking for me since they are doing CRSSD this fall. Pretty Girl’s new EP also out this week - another obvious undercard booking with GV already snatching her for Portola.
2024 has been an INSANE year for music releases already and only halfway through the year. I knew this would be a down year for major spring/summer festivals. Next year lineups are going to be top notch.
LCD would be a ton of fun if booked before the headliner on the Outdoor like Justice and Chemical Brothers the last couple of years. I think if they subbed it would be kind of empty around the main stage.

Theyre subbing Dua in a few weeks at Glasto so they obviously had no issue with it there. I think them needing a longer set is the thing. You can give them a little longer if they closed Outdoor.

LCD makes the most sense as a surprise late set IMO, but otherwise they're a super sub. Maybe if they're the same day as the RTTD/AND act they could play the outdoor as a sub.

The only issue I have with this is that the surprise sets have mostly been during the day and I think LCD would be better after dark. My bold prediction for the surprise next year is HAIM.

Blink at sunset was the right move for them. You could do that with Lcd if theyre on at dusk. But could you put em in Mojave and hope its not a shit show?

Yeah I think they could do sunset. And I know they wouldn't pack the Sahara but it'd be fun to stick them there (and then also make sure the center of the Sahara is a massive disco ball, which would be better than last year's design anyway).

Forum has let GV do shows there in the past since LN took over. And LN has had shows at Staples. ( K dot was LN for example when he did staples ) Go check the Gesa show. Its on the Goldenvoice website as a Gv Presents show. Same with Chicano Batman. Last time Nick Cave played the Forum it was GV.

The Axs website says the Gesaffelstein show is promoted by GV. Same with Chicano Batman.
