Will be curious what the new Cage music sounds like after the issues with Matt, though right now I don't have faith it'll be anything great. It feels like they had lightning in a bottle with Melophobia, which is still one of my favorite albums tbh. Had a distinct, cohesive sound and surprisingly off-kilter and kind of psychedelic at times. Highly recommend these two songs in particular, which have a decent chance of being played:
To be fair their last 2 albums won the rock Grammy for their respective release years. But I agree that Melophobia is the best album as a whole. My fav songs on are Thank You Happy Birthday, tho

I actually didn't realize that, I'm surprised. Just felt the last couple albums were missing some magic. I do love some stuff from the first two albums though, they had a more raw energy. I hate that they never seem to play Aberdeen live anymore.

I totally agree. They won the rock Grammys because they're mature pitchfork rock albums, and they're great albums! But you're right they don't make me wanna Yell At My Boss like the first 2 albums and kind of the 3rd

I can't remember the last album I was as disappointed with as Social Cues 😞 really hoping for a return to form, it was just lazy

"We can't say for certain if Tame will be there in 2025, but we do know that 'The Slow Rush' was a big hit, and we hope they will bring that to Bonnaroo" - The people that book everything 2 - 3 years late

Anyone else noticed they are burying Cage and Megan in marketing posts? Last insta ad has Post > Peppers > Fred > PL > Melanie > Cigs > Maggie > Isbell > Two Friends > JRAD

@mods any chance we can get the thread title changed to something a little more positive? Everyone who hates the lineup completely has already stopped coming around. Even just "2024 Lineup Discussion Thread" would be better than this

Maybe something like “2024 Lineup Discussion Thread - Both Mikes will be there”.

it is strange how people seem to love bass music at bonnaroo but every couple years they are like "lets try booking a bunch of house instead".
i know PL has a unique appeal but i feel like a bunch of bass artists would've complemented him better than artists like oliver heldens. i'm not complaining, personally i'm happy to have some more house, just saying its an odd choice.

complain too much bass, book more house. complain too much house, book more bass. rinse repeat cycle until the heat death of the universe. why not book a mixture, who knows

lol true, maybe the surveys they are getting complain about too much bass so they keep flip flopping.
if thats the case i appreciate them listening to surveys, but surveys aside you just need eyes to see that bass artists on the other have big crowds, house artists on the other don't. and years they book bass music sell out, years they book a bunch of house (2022) don't. obviously there are other factors for a sell out aside from the other, just saying it seems like the evidence generally points to the roo demo wanting a little mini electric forest.

I like that Roo hasn't sold out into being an EDM fest. It's been firmly eclectic since losing the jam centrality in the late aughts. So just like expecting a full sampling of bluegrass or pop isn't realistic, it's not realistic with EDM either.
Bonnaroo was my gateway drug into EDM and since then they've always brought around a handful of good acts (enough to program a whole stage the whole time) each year. Also, just like with other genres, they do a good job booking up and comers.
Jessica Audiffred for instance is a female dubstep artist from Mexico. P cool.
