listening to this low bpm opium den smooth jazz just waiting for someone to post "but actually live krungbang is a high energy dance party".
The video was cool. I'm assuming somewhere near Philippines with the mango over rice and then milk or cream poured over. Song was yeah, surf meets light jazz with a little bit of an odd and faster beat loop playing behind the twang. I hate surf music fwiw, but this was non-offensive.

I love the discourse going on today. I think it touches on a lot of the sentiments underlying festival / cultural / musical spaces. Especially in the last 10 years with so many of the old guard no longer around to carry that cache.
Small to mid tier festivals specifically curated to one or two genres are the only real spots for experimentation with new headliners in that similar old fashion. At the end of the day, Roo is one of two large scale 3+ genre camping festivals in the US. It says something they are standing the test of time with Coachella. One would think Firefly, a fest closer to more major cities would have had a better chance to sustain over time. Despite a few hiccups, Roo made the right decisions to keep it sustainable with the masses. Its no mistake they are leaning into more of what works at smaller festivals with greater emphasis on EDM as a tentpole genre and the campground expansion replacing both comedy and movie tents. Not to mention how smooth things are run overall. I remember a lot of festivals having issues last year. That goes a long way in someone purchasing before lineup drop.
What bands do you think should be allowed to headline soon in the US?
Maneskin seems to have made the jump to headliner in Europe. Never expected that to happen.
i'm typically a big pro immigration guy but if maneskin tries to headline an america festival i'll be at the border with my firearms which are my god given right by the second amendment.

Oh I don't think they'll headline over here. Just saying that even in Europe, them as a headliner surprised me.

Personally, I feel we should judge bands not by the Måne of their Skin, but the content of their character.
Bonnaroo 2025: Greta Van Fleet | Maneskin | Noah Kahan (legacy headliner)
recently i was listening to "heat above" and caught myself nodding my head a little to the beat. excited to continue to lean into my heel turn by becoming the sole pro-GVF voice on inforoo.

this is why i refuse to listen to their music. i'm afraid there is a chance i might like it and i don't want to

definitely stay away. if you are a 30+ year old white rock guy you are particularly susceptible.

given the pool of available artists this year... Roo did a really good job.. maybe like a Vampire Weekend over Cage on 2nd line would've resonated more.. but overall the picture is clearer that this was just a tough booking year
