I'm not watching wrestling actively these days but everything I hear from fans says that it's in the best place it's been since at least the Attitude Era, hopefully festivals have that same resurgence soon

coachella without any research. Headliners do nothing for me personally aside from Tyler. here are the non-roo artists i'd be interested in, really excited bolded:
wow that sunday is tough stuff. i have no doubt i'd uncover some more artists i like via research but coming up zero at first glance.
Very surprised you don’t know Bicep. And if you like Fred you’ll like Barry Can’t Swim. Folamour worth checking as well. Weak day for sure but has more going for it than Bonnaroo Saturday for my taste.

Coachella is the superior lineup, but both have plenty I would and wouldn't see. I never liked No Doubt, but good for those who do. Seems like a bit of crossover this year between the festivals - maybe 7 or 8 acts? Is that amount about typical?
i think what ruins it for the coachella lineup is definitely sunday… it’s weird seeing doja as a headliner when she was a sub 2yrs ago and didn’t do much in the last 2yrs to jump to headliner status (other than her weird nazi t shirts)

ARTBAT and Carlita are also very good DJs on Sunday... Coachella is a house and techno festival now with the main stage for the influencers and normies

Coachella may have a few good gets and a better undercard in some genres like electronic. Roo has better headliners and a genre pallete thats more well rounded to my tastes. The cost / worth ratio easily leans towards Roo, especially for someone living east coast. West coast living and that's a different story.
also it is wild to see the lack of hip hop / rap on all of these lineups after some of the artists that popped up last year
I forget which thread it was said on, but apparently rap / r&b tours did not sell well at all last year. Down time for the genre in a live sense. Down time for festivals in all senses lmao

she had another big album and Paint the Town is her highest charting song.

Coachella Acts I'd want that Roo doesn't have: Lana, Tyler, Justice, Blur, Orbital, Tinashe, Purple Disco Machine, Oneotrix, Young Fathers, L'imp, Blessed Madonna, Jockstrap, Bicep, BCNR, Mall Grab, Cimafunk, DJ Seinfeld
Other way around for Roo: Fred Again, Pretty Lights x2, Meg, Isbell, Carly Rae Jepsen, Armand Hammer, Interpol, Parcels, Idles, The Mars Volta, Yves Tumor, Joey Badass, Four Tet, Bigxthaplug, Geese, Roisin Murphy, Badbadnotgood
Those first 4 on the coachella side jump off the page to me in a game changing way for this comparison. I've also went through the Roo lineup extensively for a week or more which would give Roo the advantage. Think Coachella's is quite a bit better.

ohhhh interesting that makes sense and explains why there aren’t a ton on lineups. also i think bookers are lacking rappers that fall in the middle (like jid or joey). everyone is either huge like drake / kendrick or just a tik tok special of the week

thanks, i should know bicep, i know they get mentioned around here a lot. and even without further research i'm confident there are many excellent electronic acts at coachella i would enjoy. since the pandemic and not going to movement in a while i haven't been keeping up with electronic music as much.

yeah Justice and Deftones are those type of "anchor" acts that are missing from the roo lineup. the types of acts you plan your whole day around. Blur is one of my favorite bands of all time as well but i can't imagine a world where bonnaroo books them.

I’d kill for Coachella’s headliners, also been pining to see Justice since I was a teenager. Besides those 4 acts, Gesaffelstein and Deftones it’s pretty underwhelming for me personally. I like Bonnaroo’s undercard better.

My 2 thoughts on Coachella:
1. Cool they're getting No Doubt back together for their first show in 9 years, but that's more of a Music Midtown booking than a huge Coachella get of the past 2. My mind is blown that Sublime is 5th on their day, solely due to Jakob Nowell being the singer now, Sublime with Rome would never in a million years be booked at Coachella
Those 2 feel like reaches to me, and that's coming from someone who saw No Doubt in 1996 as my first concert and LOVED Sublime growing up

i think maybe festivals just aren't that great anymore and we should find a new hobby to rally around. how do y'all feel about nascar? talladega is basically bonnaroo but with fast cars instead of bands.

I'd be down to turn this website into a beekeeping forum.

You can't drive through Talladega on a weekend in October Just head up north to Jacksonville, cut around and over

NASCAR is fun live fwiw, we used to go to Martinsville and RIR and camp out for the weekend. When I was 13, Winston was in their last year of sponsorship. They were running a promo that they'd give you a carton of cigarettes if you turned in a pack of the competition's brand, so my dad made me go through the line behind him with a pack so I could get him a second free carton lol
