Yeah, that vid makes it looks like it'll be running at 4pm or so, which is interesting. Calling out Prydz/Anima as a sunset set is what throws me off so much. Like, either A) everyone else is going to be playing from 2-6pm or so, or B) that video is representing the Prydz/Anima set and everyone else is at night. The alternative is that everyone plays around sunset. I have no idea how to make predictions for that.
They’re not building a brand new stage with enormous LED walls and booking top tier DJs to have only one set on either weekend go later than 7. Or for that matter only have the stage open 3 hours for that matter. My guess is the DJs announced today are the “headliners” and they’ll have 2 other DJs per day that’ll be much smaller names or DJs on the lineup already just doing a second longer set.
Maybe 1-4, 4-7, 7-11 for the “headliner” who all seem to be saying 4 hours. Then on Prydz sunset day it’s like 4-8 for them and then 8-11 for a smaller DJ.

I'm guessing Prydz/Anyma is just starting later than the other sets.
And just looking at the way the stage is designed, seems like it's going to pop the best when the sun is still out. I'm not sure if the mirror walls will look as good as night time.
Heineken House is the same except Fat Joe and T Pain are diff weekends
T-Pain wasn't W1 anymore???
The screenshots from the vid still had T Pain W1.
So would we argue this wouldnt be the best thing to go really late due to foot traffic concerns to Sahara then? Might be the only thing that makes sense to not have it go til midnight or something. If it ended by 8 then you dont create other issues. All I could think of on now having this go til midnight.

The guy who helped booked Quasar commented "not done yet" when Heidi Lawden mentioned only one female artist was booked so sounds like more DJs will be on that stage as well.

Right. I imagine they'll be the ones on earlier, leaving the larger acts (the ones on the poster) not starting til its dark...or in Prydz & Anyma's case at around sunset.
I doubt my source will be able to find out specific set times for Quasar just yet, but seeing if I can find out if it will be running during headliners or not. Until then, I think we have it shut down during the HLs.
I know we don't have many acts this year and Coachella has inexplicably stopped offering solid counter programming against headliners, but even then seeing only six acts in the Mojave on Friday is wild.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised when they announced there would be 8 Sonora acts on Friday, as I knew it would leave the Gobi and Mojave with less poster acts. That being said, we're obviously going to get small late adds opening most stages when the set times drop.

I mean I get it, it's just a trend I don't like. Friday 2022 - 10 poster acts in the Mojave with headliner counter programming, Friday 2023 - 8 poster acts in the Mojave with no headliner counter programming, Friday 2024 - we don't know yet but under 8 is obviously a real possibility and I am sure it will be shut down during Lana. And this trend isn't just limited to the Mojave, obviously. Sahara has been quiet against so many headliners, Gobi almost always, etc.

Wonder if Prydz x Anyma will be done by the time No Doubt hits the stage. That could be why they're listed as "sunset" since Saturday has two headliners on the main, so they'll go on earlier and won't conflict with them. Michael Bibi might run later conflicting with No Doubt but that slot isn't nearly as big as Prydz x Anyma so maybe not an issue.

It’s possible that some of the counters were too underattended to try that again
Getting to see New Order and Jamiroquai in a tent with a crowd that was there just for them was definitely a highlight of their respective years. I understand acts wouldn't want to go up against a Beyonce, but this year's headliners in particular leave room for a dedicated Blur crowd in the Mojave or someone like Deftones closing out a tent.
That said, definitely nice to stagger the people leaving when it comes to getting out of the parking lot at the end of the day.

I mean maybe but some years it works. Jamiroquai was perfect against The Weeknd and that tent was full. Sahara can always draw a crowd, always. I heard Lane 8 overflowed Mojave against Harry Styles, I don't know how DJ Koze and Blessed Madonna/Honey Dijon fared that year. Gobi sized acts I think get thrown to the wolves and outdoor silent I understand, but I feel like the end of the night should be main, Yuma, Sahara, and a popular act with a different demo to the headliner in the Mojave. And especially this year when the headliners are a little weaker.

I could see this being the case just for Saturday since it's billed as a sunset slot. If people think this is the most likely scenario we can try and make this work on the clashfinder until we hear otherwise.

I thought they said over 100k were at harry styles, and the counter programming. was strong. I saw king Gizz at outdoor and that was awesome, badbadnotgood was also an option, as was Yuma

W1, King Gizz had like 20 people at the Outdoor, unfortunately. Probably the thinnest crowd I've been to
Carin León screams daytime/sunset Main. Maybe switch him with Bebe Rexha?
I still like Reneé Rapp in that nighttime Mojave slot. Her show feels like it'd be better suited for a tent with dedicated fans like Angèle last year or Rosalía 2019. Whereas Bebe Rexha is likely to be a showcase of her EDM features, feels more appropriate on Main. But ultimately I agree Carin León should go back to where we had him on Main

I think Renee's agents are going to be screaming for a Main stage slot because of Mean Girls and Megan likely guesting.

you might be right, I'm not going to pretend to know what agents want, but it just seems like main stage early in the day in the burning sun in front of a bunch of campers is decidedly Not The Vibe for someone with her vocal chops and background in Broadway
