I don't think Tems will have a bigger crowd than Victoria Monet unless her album comes out before and is big. The Grammy boost will help Victoria. So if you’re decided who to have the smaller stage I say Tems

I could definitely see Victoria playing a late night Mojave slot and feel like early Main / Outdoor would do her performance injustice. From Mikey’s mock, I could see Carin & Victoria swapping

Yeah I can see her in the 2017 Kehlani spot
I think Reneé / Victoria / Tinashe will all have very similar slots to Angèle / Kehlani / 2019 Rosalía
overall I actually quite like the way it's set up now for the most part, I don't see anything that looks off and there'd be some great runs to close the fest each night for me personally. Friday in particular going L'Imperatrice->Justice->Anti Up would be amazing.

With these set times I would actually enjoy Sunday and not have too much fun Friday/saturday. Sunday is a perfect lineup for what little you have to work with.
I know this topic is going to get beat to death, but I really don’t see Barry Can’t Swim in Yuma.
He’s in the middle of a live tour and tickets are reselling for like 350 in my local market (SF). He came out with a full album this year as well.
I’m hopeful/bullish he gets an evening tent slot
I do agree he's much more likely to be in a tent. But considering they throw stuff like Cirez D, PDM, and Fatboy Slim into the Yuma the barrier for "too big" is much higher than it realistically should be, so I wouldn't write off the possibility entirely.

Hoping this is nowhere near right. These conflicts would all suck for me:
Narrow Head vs Suki Waterhouse vs Skin On Skin Brittany Howard vs Clown Core That whole group of Peso vs L'Imperatrice vs Gorgon City vs Peggy Gou Justice vs Yoasobi Lana vs Deftones Brutalismus 3000 vs Orbital vs Kevin Kaarl vs Bleachers Blur vs RAYE vs Gesa Oneothrix vs Tyler vs Charlotte feeble little horse vs Tems vs Two Shell Hermanos vs Jockstrap Boy Harsher vs Khraungbin vs Mdou Moctar Olivia Dean vs Folamour Folamour & Barry Can't Swim vs No Doubt
Mikey - what are your thoughts on swapping ISO Knock2 with Charlotte Dewitte?
I think the fact that Charlotte is confirmed to be bringing her Overdrive set-up, she has to be either Mojave or Outdoor, with the Mojave being the more likely scenario imo.

I hate that this is an argument I have to make now, but if Fatboy Slim can play the Yuma, I feel like so can Barry Can't Swim.
I saw BCS at Life Is Beautiful in late September, and was able to walk up right to the rail a 2-3 minutes before he started. That's not to say that he wont have a massive crowd at Coachella, just a somewhat interesting anecdote.
Considering the Sonora is booked separately, do we think there's less of a chance acts that have played other GV fest in the past year or so, or will be playing other GV festivals in the coming year have less of a chance of playing the Sonora? Acts like Mdou Moctar & late night drive home, for instance.

I don’t think so, without doing too much research didn’t artists like Mag Bay play TANP etc… and also play the Sonora.

I kind of think they put Fatboy in the Yuma with intention to try to create a 90s rave atmosphere, knowing full well it would be way too crowded. Remember he was on the Yuma lineup they announced in Feb 2020 - there was never any doubt where he would be.
I also think looking at crowds at Life is Beautiful last sept is a bad idea for buzzier acts. I haven’t been but my sense is that fest follows trends rather than creates them; Fred Again would’ve had a small crowd there in Sept 2021 too. Plus BCS hadn’t released his album yet. He is going to really blow up; he already is. It’s not like it would be the most shocking thing ever if he ends up in the Yuma, but I really don’t think he’ll be there.

In my dream world he will get a night time set in the Mojave.

This is my other question - was he doing standard DJ sets last year, mixing a variety of his and other tunes? Because at his most recent UK shows he was doing this - live drumming and instrumentation, and almost exclusively his own music. I think this is what we're going to get, and it's absolutely not going to be Yuma if so. He also had guests at at least one of those UK shows, having Låpsley sing on Woman (maybe others as well, she's just the one the Guardian mentioned). Sunset Mojave. I take it back, I don't want him conflicting with Khruangbin (who I think we have too early and will get a sunset slot).
