I just looked at Sunday, and I don't doubt your skills here, but I REALLY hope this is way off. I have so many conflict.
Also Sublime and Orbital conflict has me cringing. I know Sublime is easy to catch in Socal, but not so much in Indiana. Those were two big must sees for me, so I might have to split sets if this is right.
As someone who hasn't seen them recently, is their show not produced for night/darkness? I get how they could fit into that early evening slot like many of their peers, but from a production standpoint would it be a waste before sundown?
No Doubt, Doja Cat, Jhene, and J balvin seem tricky on Sunday. I can’t see jhene anywhere but main stage though- especially not that sunset outdoor slot. Maybe J balvin between summit and snake in Sahara and have that stage open earlier?
Last year they had every stage starting at least an hour earlier than these mocks- perhaps theyre giving people longer set times which would be a dream.

My maybe-hot take is that I absolutely do not want longer set times. 50ish minutes is extremely ideal to me to get sets that are more killer and less filler, and increase the number of total acts I can see. If I want 90 minutes, I'll see them on tour. If they're all 90 minutes, that means either more split sets or fewer total sets I see per day. No thank you.
Also, Khruangbin seem tailor made for the Outdoor Sunset slot, but Jhene at 5pm on the main also seems odd.
Definitely agree on no longer sets. It's already hard to see more than 5 or 6 acts a day, conflicts would be brutal if you had people routinely going to 80 minutes.

Worth noting that the gates don't open until 1 pm now.
Okay I'll say it: it's time for a Coachella cum leak, even if its just a dribble. GV can only give us blue balls so many times before someone blows a load so messy that it scrambles the lineup placements.
Is there a chance that the sets dont get longer set times, but are more spaced out to allow for less conflicts? Not sure if that would mess with the flow of the festival, but especially for friday which has so many artists i want to see and they're all currently overlapping in one way or another this would be ideal!

L'Imperatrice in the Gobi again feels wrong. The tent was spilling out in the afternoon the last time they played and while they haven't shot up in popularity they are definitely bigger than they were. And specific to that slot, Everything Always is a really big draw but it's also kind of the only other big thing happening right at the time we currently have them. I just think they should at least be in the Mojave, if only because they just played the Gobi 2 years ago.
just for conversation sake, I think 5:50 is too early for Peggy Gou compared to where she's billed. I see the logic of putting her there to avoid certain conflicts and because other artists in the Sahara have compelling reason to go at night, but I can't think of the last time a second liner played in the Sahara that early - the closest I see in the past 5 years doing cursory looking is YG at 7 pm and BLACKPINK at 8pm.
counter argument would be that 2nd liners have played that time on Main / Outdoor stages, and maybe as part of the Sahara expansion & rebrand they might start putting bigger artists there earlier - but as it stands that's definitely an outlier compared to past years. I would consider swapping her with Steve Angello, or playing around with putting her in the Mojave at night and maybe putting Skepta in the Sahara.

Exactly. I never understood the appeal of concert length sets at festivals like this save for the biggest and rarest. I want to get in and out and keep it moving.

I think swapping Peggy for Deftones, Deftones for Young Miko, and Young Miko for Peggy would make sense. Especially if we think Sahara is gonna have more non EDM

yes that's a good way to do it as well! I thought about the possibility of Outdoor going Peggy -> Everything Always -> Justice as I can easily imagine it that way, but was too lazy to think about what to do with Deftones if I suggested that lol

I'm unfortunately unable to give any further details currently, but considering some back end confirmations I've gotten, it would be nearly impossible to fit Jhene on the Main on Sunday.

We played with both of these ideas last year when we already had less acts compared to 2022. If last year was any indication, it doesn't really seem like they'll make any drastic set time changes like you've suggested. It's probably more likely that the combination of the gates now opening at 1 and the yearly inclusion of late adds when the set times drop makes it all even out for the most part.

For the most part, I agree. I've been trying to figure out a way to move them back into the Mojave, but I'm not really sure who we could move out / around to make that work.

I agree that 5:50 might be a bit early for Peggy considering her billing. While I don't love having the Outdoor go Peggy -> EA -> Justice (have we ever had 3 electronic acts all lead into each other on the Outdoor before?) if I'm the only one who feels that way, we can move her to the Outdoor.
I could of course be wrong, but I think Steve Angello would have more of a set lighting package for his show and require a night slot vs Peggy.
If we're going to move Orbital later (which I agree should probably happen) who would it be more likely that they conflict with?
Tyler, Blur, Gesaffelstein or Jungle?
I think you can switch The Drums and Orbital. Selfishly, would be a fun night for me to go from Gess to Orbital.
I think there’s a world where Orbital conflicts with Jungle. One of those conflicts that most attendees will be fine with (but this forum would go apoplectic).
Seems like Skream and Benga are in the Yuma and I still think that Grimes DJ's in the Sahara.
What makes you think Skream & Benga will be Yuma?
The more I think about it I think they fit better that day in the Gobi. Sahara just seems too massive and a more intimate setting would better suit them imo. Them into PDM and everything else being speculated for Sahara so far would flow terribly, while it could get wonky in Gobi. Would also be weird for them to be in the Yuma with what’s on that day, though we know they like to mix things up.

If Orbital is going to pull a small crowd, just leave them where they're at. If someone like Ride was billed on the 2nd line and still played the Gobi at 5:25, Orbital will be fine at 8. Any later and their crowd could actually get smaller.
As for L'Impératrice, they could easily play early Outdoor. Maybe put them in NEIL FRANCES' spot then put them in the Gobi somewhere?

I think we need to move flight facilities out of the Yuma. They played a dj set last year in the do lab. I’m sure they are bringing their live set with featured vocalist. I would go with gobi or Mojave for sure

Charli XCX went on around 5-5:30 last year, and I think Charli is a little bigger and has met devout fans.
I think they need to be in Yuma- peep their boiler room. Knowing that Yuma and Sonora book separately than the rest of the festival, I kind of think it’s more likely B3000 will be in one of those.
I’ve seen their boiler room, which is kinda why I think they could late in Sonora. They have a lot of live vocals, which I’m sure has happened in Yuma before but I can’t think of it off the dome.
Oh yeah I see I fucked up the stage name in my original post. Meant Sonora, not Gobi.
Would be super down for them in Sonora. FWIW, Keinemusik had live vocals for a bit during their set last year
