why do people hate lacrosse. lacrosse is pretty sick.
There's no pro version and all the colleges that are good at it seem like places where Republicans go to learn how to be more politely racist.
Like Syracuse?
It’s really just a coastal elite sport. Also played by libs who aren’t racist but are just seriously concerned about the recent rise in carjackings in inner cities.
Is skateboarding really a sport or just a fun thing to do/watch?
The sport version of it is a very, very secondary point of the activity. The most fulfillment that comes for the majority of skateboarders when they aren't just hanging out and fucking around with their friends is learning a new trick (creative endeavor) for yourself. Trying it 400 times and finally landing it, even if nobody is watching let alone competing against you. People aspire more to land enough tricks on camera to put together a montage. When they are admiring professionals, its watching skate videos... just 9-10 pro montages.
It is technically a sport in the same way that Ice Skating, Gymnastics, Diving into a pool, synchronized swimming, where the judges hold up scorecards to rate a performance. Esteban mentioned racing but I don't think that's been done seriously since the 80s.
Most of the Ivies and schools like Hopkins/Georgetown are good at lacrosse and I don't find them to be specifically right-leaning, although that is a larger and spicier debate.
outside of cricket, is this just going to go from the most republican seeming sport to the least?
tennis feels like it leans R but tennis is fun so I hope it stays
tennis should be top 3 imo but that seems quite unlikely. one of best sports to play throughout full life, is cheap, is easy to get a game together, and is fun to watch (carlos is so sick)

Okay so let’s vote of skateboarding and then gymnastics then we’ll have all sports left

Pro tennis is crazy to watch live just in terms of what a different experience it is than watching it on TV. With the angle and the way everything is shot, you don't get a real feeling for just how hard pros pulverize the ball and how fast it all is.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

At least lacrosse is actually a sport, even if it is only really played my douchebags.
I still don't see how NASCAR qualifies as a sport. It's more like a show. Not saying it doesn't require skill, just that it doesn't require athleticism.

It does to a degree, though - drivers are basically doing arm and leg exercises for four hours straight while also having to deal with g-forces that put strain on the body.
And that's not even counting the pit crews - those folks have to be athletic AF. NASCAR actually has a development program geared toward recruiting D1 college and pro athletes for pit crew work because of the speed and strength required to get all that shit done super-fast.
Before anyone @'s me, I'm not a NASCAR fan at all and I really don't care where it goes in this Survivor. Kthxbye.

US Open maybe my favorite sporting event to attend live in the world. u new yorkers are very lucky to have it

They're also probably sweating harder than any other sports, other than dudes killing themselves making weight (the most unethical aspect of bloodsports?)
Is volleyball getting a free pass because it just requires no athleticism if you want to play it at a picnic or something?
are you being for real?
college level and certainly pro/Olympic volleyball takes immense skill and athleticism.
This is true of every sport though. My point was that the barrier to entry on volleyball is very low. Not everyone is going to be able to just randomly play ice hockey capably.
Why are you only considering NASCAR for motorsports? What about F1? And motorboating?
F1 is great but probably has the worst environmental impact of anything left (maybe soccer or if you lump every Olympic sport together), I don’t really care about motor cross or motor boating

One of the most embarrassing days of my life was when I tried out for the ice hockey team at my school. I had played inline a couple of years in rec leagues and didn't think the transition to ice would be that tough, but holy shit was I wrong.
Still made the team though as it's the south and not enough people ever tried out to warrant cuts. I played year round in spring league, pickup, and fall house leagues and by my senior year I was starting games and even scoring goals.
