Why are you only considering NASCAR for motorsports? What about F1? And motorboating?
F1 is great but probably has the worst environmental impact of anything left (maybe soccer or if you lump every Olympic sport together), I don’t really care about motor cross or motor boating
Princeton Harvard Michigan Yale North Carolina Penn Duke Virginia Notre Dame Johns Hopkins
Literally all stuffy or Old South except Michigan.
These ratings factor in the school’s academic ranking so kinda skewing the results. Maryland is the defending champ and has been in 5 of the last 10 NCAA finals and really doesn’t fit the narrative.
But I don’t think anyone is suggesting it’s not elitist, I just don’t consider some of the lacrosse power houses to be “Republican” enclaves (although Virginia, Duke, Notre Dame clearly are).
Also gun to my head I’d rather hang out with a lax bro than a college hockey player.

My defense of tennis is that despite the country club stigma free courts are readily available in most cities, rackets and balls can be pretty inexpensive, and it’s fairly easy to pick up recreationally. And more fun to watch that a bunch of stuff on this list.

Don't disagree with any of that. I just suspect that tennis is going to hang around to the very end at the expense of more deserving candidates.
If you don't think Ivies are Republican you need to read more.
The Ivies aren’t actually lacrosse powerhouses. They’re like the Big Ten is to football. Gets a ton of attention based on history, rarely actually win the title.

You motorboating son of a bitch, you old sailor you!
Okay I'll say it: it's time for a Coachella cum leak, even if its just a dribble. GV can only give us blue balls so many times before someone blows a load so messy that it scrambles the lineup placements.
Football is like the jam bands of sports. Outside of the U.S. who gives a shit?
Basically started by a rugby player who sucked at rugby and took his toys and went home and made his own sport where the rules worked in his favor.
I feel like the only reason it is so popular is because it is wholly American and violent.
Also the only sport here apart from boxing and MMA that shortens the lives of the people who play it. And the fact that the NFL tried to cover it up after it was proven to do so is gross.
Anyway, I know it is going to the top 5. Probably top 3. Just venting. Come at me, rednecks.

I knew I was gonna get some soyboy answer
Coming from the guy who did tofu in the weekly recipe thread.
Speaking of barriers to entry... motorsports. I legit don't even know how I would start if I wanted to.
The fact that every F1 race features 19 millionaire nepo babies who could die in a fiery crash at any moment (and Lewis Hamilton) might be a feature not a bug for this crew.
