Soccer is definitely more boring than baseball and I can't take a sport seriously if it involves guys flopping down on the ground in fake agony to get a penalty. In basketball they at least get up after.
Yeah. Major League Baseball is greed. I don’t like flopping in soccer (or basketball) but at least I’ll watch it on tv. If I catch 2 or 3 innings in a World Series game that’s a lot for the year. Not too many events are greater than the World Cup. That goes for men’s and women’s

hmm one of the most athletically intensive sports vs one where the players could set up a table in the outfield and eat a four-course dinner throughout the game without missing a beat. There's also so little highlight variety in baseball compared to the others. And outside of the pitcher vs batter, there's no mano y mano moments of athletes besting opposing athletes. And even the pitcher catcher thing is a quirky little exchange. Grueling sport to watch. The best thing you can really say about it is the atmosphere at the ballpark and the culture that comes along with it, but that doesn't hold a candle to soccer. Empty ass parks, too many games, bunch of un-athletic fat dudes dipping and chewing gum.

I don't know your personally nor have I ever met you. But you seem to appreciate competition.
Soccer outlasting any of the other 3 would be fking comedy
I dunno. It's not the most popular sport in the world for nothing. The flopping thing is garbage and a real stain on the sport, but it's not like all the others left don't have their share of attempted cheating at the competitive levels. And yeah, FIFA is corrupt, but it's not like the NFL is an upstanding organization, either.
Soccer has the lowest barrier to entry of any of the sports left - you literally just need a ball, and that's it. It works as something you can do recreationally but also is hugely popular at the professional level. None of the other sports left have anything that rivals the World Cup in terms of capturing the attention of much of the planet. And it's lower-scoring and probably less moment-to-moment exciting to watch than basketball or American football, but it's not like baseball is a thrill-a-minute experience - there's a reason they keep changing the rules to try to make it less boring.
Hitting a pitched baseball well, especially at the elite level, is one of the more challenging feats of hand-eye coordination there is, but beyond that, soccer is much more athletic an endeavor.
Makes perfect sense for it to be a top 3 choice, to me.

-hyperbole, and there are large portions of soccer games where guys are just dicking around not doing the most athletically intensive things
-robbing home runs is one of the best highlights in sports and is a very very athletic thing to accomplish when done right
-outside of kicker kicking at goalie there's only so much exciting things about dudes passing back and forth to each other. guys throwing someone out at home from deep outfield is an incredible feat.
-you mentioned in the other thread about how 'anticipation' partly makes soccer better than hockey, but the build up in each at bat and across each game leads to some explosive moments that can end up iconic. watching a guy uncork one on a full count tie game in the 9th is just *chefs kiss*

some good retorts. Except for the amount of games one. No argument for that. The anticipation point obvious resonates with me. I actually dont really love soccer. More than anything I’m making sure the distance between the top 2 and baseball is understood.
But in soccer, there is much more opportunity for creativity in the way you shit on your opponent. Whether thats in getting around them or how you are shooting on goal. Somewhat similar to basketball with handles and moves used to score, but definitely a few levels worse than that.

eh idk about this. Going out and tossing the pigskin is pretty strong. Needing to go further is close to needing a full soccer net and a goalie.
Soccer is the most popular sport in the entire world. basketball is the only thing left that has close to the same reach. Baseball is boring as fuck and the best game a player can have is when literally no one even hits the ball. baseball and football players also don't really have aura. Like compare this to a Mike Trout highlight reel:
I played all of these growing up. Some on teams, some with friends and a lot of it was by myself since I was out in the country without people around.

Most fun to play with group 1. Basketball 2. Football 3. Soccer 4. Baseball (my specialty in Little League and middle school baseball was being hit by the pitch. It happened SO MUCH)
Best to do by yourself 1. Basketball 2. Soccer (juggling, working on ball skills, or "shooting" against a wall) 3. Baseball (I guess? You could throw the ball in the air and catch it like a pop fly. Or, as you said, hitting a ball you tossed to yourself, although that also requires chasing it down, which sucks) 4. Football (I'm not even sure this is possible)

Theres creativity in pitching but still way less overall than the other sports. Also have you considered that pitching isn’t that cool? Feels closer to a juggler coming into a room to show off a trick than it does an athlete coming in to shit on opponents.
