Do you not like (real [tm]) fried shrimp, fish or oysters? Popcorn? I can't imagine anyone not liking choclo. Also bourbon is 50% or more corn. You don't drink but that's some goddess nectar shit. Crayons. Corn flakes. Nachos. Masa. Polenta. Grits/hominy.
I could get if you were like dude, I hate fucking baby corn in chinese food dishes and I'd be "okay." But corn, which as we said yesterday is a fruit, works similar to grains as far as being a base for stuff. Think rice, wheat, oats, etc. The only downsides are that most of it in America is GMO, and they shouldn't use corn syrup in soft drinks because the switch from sugar is directly tied to the skyrocketing obesity rates of the early 1990's. But people's gotta get them a coke.

I’m paying special attention for anyone teaming up with Sang in these threads.
Already 2 rounds of people explaining basic culinary facts from centuries of human civilization. And sang is just like “nah”.
I didn’t eliminate celery by myself.
Ohh I know. And there’s a difference between what I’m joking about and just simply not liking something. There’s plenty of staples I don’t really like. I was more pointing out it’s funny when you deny things that are 100% true because you personally don’t like it.

Celery is an aromatic. Cauliflower’s use as a substitute for a variety of things.
I know cauliflower is used as a substitute but it’s a fact to me that it’s not a successful substitute.
I touched on this in the last round. I used to be with you on this bc I was trying to a direct comparison for them. Mashed cauliflower doesn't taste like mashed potatoes. Riced cauliflower doesn't taste like rice. That being said, I think both are pretty good on their own merits. Not saying this to change your mind or anything. Just wanted to talk about getting past my own mental block on them.

Maybe. Also not everyone is on the same playing field with quality of food. We’re not going to really fancy restaurants. My wife can cook well and my brother in law is a great cook. Neither have been able to make me like those things. So that’s all I have to go by.

poor peas taking a beating.
i always have a bag of frozen peas on hand- useful to add some veg to mac n cheese, a quick stir fry situation, or ice a sprained ankle. get some culture people.

peas are very mid. theyll never be horrible but also wont ever be memorable. Like eggplant can be kinda gross but good eggplant preparations are delicious. this is why im voting peas.

the list is so strong i'm not gunna get mad about peas going out now but i do get exciting about peas. fresh or even frozen peas are fun to eat and actually taste good without a ton of doctoring. like peas with a little salt taste better than cauliflower with a little salt, or spinach with a little salt.
the truth is only one of these i don't really love is corn and maybe certain squashes (not a butternut guy).
a fresh ear of sweet corn you pick up from someone selling on the side of the road might be the best thing here that requires no real preparation. literally just boil and add butter or throw it on the grill and you have an elite side.

they're definitely fine. I don't think peas with some salt are memorable as something like corn can be. id be fine with cauliflower going too tho (or squash)
