Gotta be cheaper than an Olympic sized swimming pool.
I'm certainly no big golf defender and Tiger shouldn't hang around too long, but at least there is diversity in the backgrounds of the top golfers.
You got this all flipped. A bathing suit and goggles is a lot cheaper than a set of clubs. Lap pools are a lot more available than golf courses. Olympic sized pools are rarer but that’s a speciality just like a tournament caliber golf course is.
There are large, landlocked underdeveloped areas that don't have a lot of pool access of any kind, much less olympic sized ones. If you were to somehow get a golf club and ball (or make your own) in sub Saharan Africa, you could at least still practice.
There are a lot of stories of baseball players in the Dominican Republic learning to play baseball with makeshift equipment made out of boxes and rolled tape.

I think there’s hundreds of millions more people that know how to swim than have ever played football.

By that measure you can swim in literally any body of water.
What you got against Phelps? Seems like a typical guy who had to fight through personal issues like ADHD and depression even though he is the most decorated Olympian of all times. He's kind of goofy, and I remember him once having to hang up on Ray Lewis to do an interview. But he advocates for mental health awareness now which is probably more than most of these other still-living GOATs are doing.

I have nothing against Phelps the person, but more a hesitation when measuring competitive swimming against other sports.
For the reasons mentioned, and the outcome of the top level competitors in swimming being very non-heterogenous.
You can line up the guys from the finals of each Olympic swimming event and it looks like a Goose audience.

I knew him in college, we had a bunch of mutual friends. Literal sex pest and all around crummy guy. Even if you want to give him grace on his 20s I find his current form to have zero compelling personality traits other than just “remember me? I won a bunch of medals.”

Sifan Hassan won bronze in the 5K and 10K and then set an Olympic record in the marathon, winning gold. She won gold in the 5K and 10K at Tokyo, as well as bronze in the 1500. She's probably the GOAT distance runner just based on that, I'd think. At least on the women's side.
I was going to go with the goat of the witches' sabbath, but I went with the kinder, gentler baby goat drinking milk. I figured profile changes were the least I could do if Teddy was putting out all that effort and if it was a survivor I was participating in. They're all kind of basic because I wanted to keep things from being too obscure. Apparently the reference to Michigander was a little out there though.

golf is a bad comparison but golf will not last long. track and field/soccer/basketball/etc is the comparison.

Not trying to change your vote as I do not know much about Lewis Hamilton, but you should check out some of the science behind modern driving. The demands on their body and the reaction times needed are insane.
so does playing Fortnite but I don't see Ninja on here lol

no it doesn’t?
just like racecar drivers, every time a gamer turns on the stream and preforms they are putting there very lives on the line to entertain us. I just don't see much of a difference between someone like Ricky Bobby vs Baby Keems minecraft channel. Both are legends
