I have him at 5, but his career has been great. I don't really care that much who ends up winning, but being a little kid when Pele' came to the US makes those two a tossup for me as to who is the best soccer player.

Maybe in the US with New York but not necessarily with Santos. US was way behind much of the rest of the world and certainly Brazil considering they have 5 world cups and 7 Olympic medals (2/3/2).
Obviously times are different and with AI and all the advancements in diet, sports medicine, training and shit to where there are way more quality players across the world. I think that's true with all major sports which is why I said it was subjective/different eras. Is Wilt greater than LeBron or MJ? We can't really say.

Their athleticism is less impressive because they had to be born with the golden ticket of extreme height to enter the field, unlike in soccer or football.
I think at this point you have to have a fringe build to be an elite football player, but agree with your overall point that no amount of hard work is gonna make me 6’8”. Can’t make arguments about a sport being accessible or not accessible when 99% of the world is eliminated from contention at birth.
I agree with the football point if only viewed through the lens of specific positions, but I still contend that very few people are truly ruled out of the NFL as a whole at birth. Especially compared to basketball. An NFL DB looks pretty normal in public.

Maybe but there are 20 years between end of one career and start of another (30 years vs. LeBron). You push Joker as goat all the time and did a few times early in this survivor. You can't compare him with MJ for exactly the same reason. Different eras. It's all arguable but not provable.

wilt isn’t even the best player in his era. Messi is the goat and happens to play at the same time as probably the second best player ever so you can compare them directly.

LeBron's longevity will be studied and his training replicated for decades. He just won gold and player of the tournament at the Olympics after playing more NBA minutes than anyone ever has. Who knows when he'll retire. Seems kinda crazy to vote him off now.

Voting out the person with twice as many medals as the next closest person who is also a GOAT that should have been on this list is crazy. Phelps also has the longest televised single putt in golf history. This whole poll is a farse.

Tom Brady can go soon. I get he's the best at one of the most important positions in team sports but it's still very much a team sport where everyone on a 54 or whatever man roster needs to do their jobs and there are 25 or so starting positions to field. Belichick is still a great coach, even though Brady gets basically all the credit now because he went to a pretty loaded team and won, while Belichick hasn't been successful.
