Most of us are more aligned more socially and politically (if not economically) with the northeastern states than our own home turfs. I got nothing too much against New Jersey itself but NY >
That's all fair. It slightly begs the question of whats keeping people in these states they don't like, but to each their own.
Why should I have to move? They're the ones that suck.
Utah is absolutely beautiful. Sure, there are a lot of Mormons, but California has a bunch of Scientologists, and we ranked them #1!
Sure it is. So is plenty of West Virginia and Arkansas. There are lots of weirdos in both of those states, and I'm not referring to religion necessarily. But CA > UT
Of course California better, but there’s no way Utah is a bottom tier state. Utah is top tier for its National Parks alone.

If it helps, NC is where Cook Out started, so I feel that gives it the tiebreaker.
Also, trantsgiving lives in Georgia which really should have counted against it more.
faye webster how would you rank the tray you got Friday in AVL against what you get in GA
Related to this but not the topic on hand, but does everyone else rank the nearby locations of fast food places? We have two Taco Bells that are close to the house, and my younger kid has a very strong preference between the two. He refuses to take feedback as to why his second favorite might be as good as the his favorite.

Here in Cincinnati, we have very strong opinions on the rankings of Skyline Chili locations. (The one on Ludlow Ave. is obviously the best one, and anyone who tells you differently can fuck off to Toledo or Fort Wayne or something.)

We definitely have locations that we avoid. Like this Taco Bell is ok but we’re not going to this one.
Bottom tier states in no order: Kansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, Louisiana, Iowa, Utah. This doesn't mean any of these states is completely irredeemable. I can think of several things in each one of them that's kind of awesome except maybe Kansas and Iowa. Kansas does have Liberal, Kansas. And they have a lot of pigs and some of the Quad Cities are in Iowa. Speaking of the Quad Cities, I haven't thought of them in a while. Maybe Moline, Illinois is one of them with Dubuque or Davenport or some shit. Gotta go look that up: Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa and Rock Island and Moline in Illinois.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

I prefer to eat at independent local restaurants 😎

Don’t forget Kentucky.
It’s got mammoth cave and lots of bourbon distilleries. Plus mint juleps. But it’s a shit state.

States that haven't come up that have strong cases for top 10: NY, NJ, CT, WA, MD, VA, TX, IL, NV
new jersey top 10 is wild to me
It can be crowded in parts but most of the state is a short drive between one of 2 major cities and there's really not the same wasteland areas that are in these other states.
In NJ you're either right by a major city, by the beach, or in fairly scenic suburbs.

There's also a ton of farmland and nature - it's not called "The Garden State" ironically.
