i might be rocking a skirt for a day or so at roo... if i see one that i think looks cool. have already put out a request with some of my girl friends. hopefully they can find me one that looks cool enough that i can wear it and be comfortable.
So after rocking the skirt for several years (as documented in the first few pages of this thread), I think I've retired the idea for this year. It's very comfortable agreed, and I recommend at least trying it. One main downside is the lack of pockets (as people have mentioned). Also if you're going to go commando, and you're even just a little bit shy, make sure you're not wearing a thin skirt while walking into a headwind.
I wore a skirt/ kilt at gathering of the vibes, (really fabric tied around my waist), and enjoyed freeballing, and I could pee anywhere without having any Rush Limbaugh gayzors. I got odd looks and insults more then complaments, kinda tough to hacky sack too! after being so comfortable, and hyped up about the expeience, I did it in a local, public, event, where knowbody does it, and got called some mean stuff. my motive was to express comfort and freedom. now i'd just rather go streaking!
p.s, would not reccomend skirt with phanny pack! lol

I'll be sporting a sarong at least part of the time at Roo this year, they are deliciously comfortable and I can always throw my pocket stuff in my backpack.
Also: MofroHead, couldn't help but notice you are from Bloomington, as I am! We might know each other!

this is such a great company.....you just don't find people that do business like this very often.....very cool cats indeed. be sure you get some of their rope sandals too. they're the best thing for walking at roo! i've been sporting the jc style for four years now.
I'm sad that I apparently killed this thread, it interests me greatly. I've been experimenting with my sarongs, and found that using one of my belts over the top of it and then folding the top of the sarong back over t he belt helps immensely at actually keeping it on and not flashing everyone on the street. I should probably learn more about tying them on. I can definitely attest to their comfort and breeziness however, definitely worth giving it a try!
Putting on a skirt because a woman says its sexy is like putting on eyeliner because a woman says its sexy.
Wrong. Whether or not a woman says eyeliner is sexy, it doesn't perform any real function or display any real usefulness. However, a skirt, kilt, or sarong is worth wearing regardless of what women or bigot homophobic types may say. They are lightweight, cool, and allow a rather nice breeze to shoot right up where it is needed most. They can double in function as either a tapestry, cape, or towel. Also, women think they are sexy. ;D
I am so far from homophobic its ridiculous. I just think its a little goofy looking and not functional(for me as I want pockets). Also my shorts arent tight fitting and I wear boxers so breeze isnt really an issue.
I agree it can be strange going without pockets, but I plan on having my camelbak/backpack thing on my back pretty much the whole time anyway, and it carries much more than any cargo pockets, so I'm not worried about having room for my various items.
