Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
One of Andrea's pics reminded me... the "backyard" area towards the mainstage was absolutely crucial. The fact that we could lounge around with huge plates of food, cheaper beer and more while seeing mainstage acts was great. It was- I dare say it- incredibly comfortable!
So it's certainly not "roughing it"... and you can certainly choose not to shower... (It's not like I didn't get ridiculously dirty/wet/nasty thanks to dancing/weather/frontrow.) But if you're there for the Roo music and vibe, this is the best way to maximize your time, energy and enjoyment!
I want to be packed in I thought you were supposed to be dirty for 5 days
lol, well, he doesn't have to use the showers!! i only used them once! It's just nice to have when you feel nasty. By sunday, I don't care who you are, even the dirtiest of wooks has to feel slightly nasty.
And I don't know why you would want to be packed in! That's a little silly. Even in GA there are spots that aren't CRAMMED full.
VIP is a "Real Roo experience." It's a much much better one if you ask me. There are 2 types of roo experiences. One entails a bunch of walking and not a whole lot of time to go back to camp and take breaks during the day, and one entails minimal walking and being able to watch the music WHILE you break at camp. It's a no brainer if you ask me, though I completely understand people who feel it is too expensive.
Anyways, if your boyfriend has friends going and they aren't going VIP and it's his first time, GA probably IS the way to go. Bonnaroo is an experience that is best shared. But I would keep nagging at him if I were you. There really is no comparison in terms of how much more energy and fun you have in VIP vs GA. This is coming from someone who has camped ALL over that fucking farm. I've been in 3 seperate BFEs, was close only 1 time in GA, and went VIP last year.
If you come to this board every day, and are as excited as I am 7 months out (which you seem to be), it's definitely worth the investment. You can't really put a price tag on how much better the experience is, imo.
Anyways, good luck with your decision, I am sure whatever you decide it will be the right decision for you.

See that's the only statement I'm still on the fence over, cause I had the no walking/hearing bands at camp in tent only, ya know?
But seriously, that was good advice, thank you
I actually found out today that I am going to have to cancel a cruise I was supposed to go on, because of my new job. If everything goes ok, I will be getting about $600 back in my hands, that I had considered already "gone." So that little windfall, is kinda putting me over the vip edge It makes me want to try it since it won't have to come out of any sort of regular budget, I can just put it aside for roo now.
I'm actually nervous about the whole "boyfriend at bonnaroo" thing... although he's super great and I adore him (blah, blah, blah ) roo is my FAVORITE time of every year, and I'm really an independent person in general. If I have a shadow the whole 5 days, I'm gonna be pissed. That happened with a friend in '05 and we are no longer friends! Not that he's uncool enough to really shadow me, but I get irritated really easily when I want to see a million things and I have to coordinate with someone else, and it's 100 degrees on top of that. So I'm thinking I might just tell him - hey, I'm going vip, you can do what you want. I'm actually hoping his friends end up going cause then he could camp with them in GA and not annoy me!
Plus I mean, although this is my best relationship ever, I do suck at them in general, so do I really want to make my plans for 6 months away around him? That is soooo far away. Yeah, not thinking that's too wise.
And, ok, I swear I am not as evil as I just sounded ;D

tara, i love you! you crack me up ;D
your post reminded me of how well vegoose worked for us! we all got to see whatever the heck we wanted, and i loved getting surprised with the presence of the wandering tara every so often!
i hope his friends come, for your good time's sake! cause that's what roo is all about
Well, I am convinced a thousand times. We were already planning on taking the VIP plunge this year and this thread just removed any doubt I may have had.
Tara...
My fiance and I went to our first Bonnaroo together. We moved in together shortly afterward. Somehow, the planning and execution of said plans and being together all weekend under stress and still having an amazing time gave me major confidence in our relationship. Now Bonnaroo is "our" vacation and will always be that way. I sort of feel more in love with him during roo than the rest of the year.
Think of it as a test of your relationship. I mean, if you can't have fun at Bonnaroo together, you may as well hang it up. :0) How's that for evil?
haha... i know what you mean, but when we stay together for like 2 or 3 days in my apartment or his (like on a weekend) i'm ready to pull my hair out for him to leave (he's content to stay god knows how long)! i want him back like 2 days later, but i just need like a day or two that is all mine. (side note - this is why i think i will NEVER get married - lol). we haven't been together THAT long, so maybe it'll change, but i don't know... bonnaroo's already "mine" not ours, so i want to be selfish on this one!
i definitely hear what you're saying, it would be a test, but i'm pretty sure i'd fail!
interestingly, i think one of the things that is making this work is that we have very different interests, and i like that cause he does his thing and i do mine, but this... this is like... it's mine, dammit! ok, i am evil
i might change my mind 6 months from now.. i dunno we'll see
If you can't stay together for more then 3 days, I would not worry on what is going to happen in 6 months....sounds like it is time to move on... This Bonnaroo I will be married for 10 years.....sounds like we made it longer then 3 days..
I have friends who are in their mid to late 20's and not married...and I don't think they ever will get married due to the fact that they like their freedom to do what they want when they want....Like going to Bonnaroo..
Another note: if you are a single guy in your mid 20's....go and take a ballroom dancing class..the ratio to girls to guys is 4 to 1 My wife and I take ballroom dancing classes and I am blown away with how many single girls in their mid 20's are there with their friends...Nothing for nothing....good looking girls I might add...

what?!! no way! 3 days is the longest i've ever been able to handle being around a romantic interest. it is no reflection on him. i'm the claustrophobic weirdo!
and anyway i was talking to him yesterday, and i think it might be ok if he comes, i need to give him more credit for respecting my independence and he is not clingy during everyday life at all. i tend to forget that he is cool and not offended when i say "ok, i need alone time now!" i'm used to years of offending guys with that.
anyway, he also became where more excited about the vip situation.
enough on my dating diaries....
VIP here I come whoever i split it with I am there! ;D
OH and I just have to say, I cannot tell you how excited I am at the thought of never having to poop in a port-o-potty this year!!! woooooohooooooOO!!!!
that is my low point of bonnaroo every year. i am getting my money's worth and taking full advantage of those real bathrooms - I'm making the walk back to vip every time i even have to pee! (like andrea said she did i think - super idea!)
actually, it says on the old bonnaroo site, that last year they were 1058.25 a pair, plus the 50.50 service charge... so it's like $1108.75 - when you're poor that $91.25 makes a difference!
although alisa's 1,200 is probably closer for this year though, since they go up every year don't they?
I just searched and found my ticket confirmation from last year and it said "Total Package Cost: 1,120.25 (USD)". However, I would venture to guess that expecting $600 per person would be a good budget number for this year.
In an effort to continue to convince those on the fence, I found Kelly's diary entry describing the differences between VIP & GA. The pictures have expired, but the story is still there:

wow, even without the pictures that was good info and got me very excited! thanks so much for the link.
yup, i'm 100% sure now (excluding any emergencies or national disasters) that i will be in VIP! and i'm way excited! ;D
YAY!! I'm so glad you are going. It looks like Inforoo'ers will be in abundance in VIP in 2007!
Oh, and this quote in Kelly's diary entry: "One guy we hung out with said that they might as well offer free fellatio, as well, because that was the only thing that could make it better. " RooSkew said that. He's a riot!
We are going VIP this year. This will be the first time, 3 previous Roos were General Admission. This thread really mad me decide on it. Last year on Sunday night, after Phil and friends I went back and wanted to get some sleep, before driving home the next day, some people were jumping into my tent while I was sleeping and messing with everyones around us. Then every time a car left, it felt like they were right outside my tent. Not sure if it was the effects of the party or was me, but I was like freaked out about people being disrespectful. We had great neighbors every year, but I really think the VIP is the way to go. We took our own portable heated shower and shower tent last year, so the showers were not an issue to us about going VIP, since I had them last year. The walk is another big selling point plus the security of going in and not getting searched as much is another plus. We are going VIP and I am also going to attend the Inforoo party this year. My question is thought, I like to get in on Wednesday night like I have the previous 3 years. Did anyone get into VIP on Wednesday night? or did they hold VIP out until Thursday am? I like to get there early and have fun.
