if you are getting vip to be close i would not get it. all you have to do is get a handicap pass and they park you directly behind what stage. did it last year and could see the bands less than 75 feet from my camp.
accessible parking is only for those with REAL disabilities, not people that want to have prime parking and walking distance.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

If you're not handicapped, then you should NOT be parking there.
My dad had to lose a leg in a freak work accident to be able to park a little closer than everyone else.

When riding with my grandmother(who is handicapped) and getting to a place with no free handicapped spots, then seeing some asshole stroll right up to his vehicle in a handicapped spot... god, what the heck is wrong with people

besides that - access camping is not behind the What Stage - access camping is close to where the ferris wheel was last year because that is the access entrance.
at any rate - getting a handicap placard just to park close only makes you an asshole. I have a handicap placard because of my ankle and hip and we may not even use it this year - depends on how I am feeling. i would rather walk and leave the space for someone who really really needs it.

I'm sure some people think my dad is one of those "not very nice [people]" because he can walk without a limp or any sign that he is handicapped. He just can't walk or stand for very long.
If you have a viable reason, then more power to you. If not, you are a....do we have to say "not very nice person"? That lacks a certain amount of power behind it.
My sister and I invited our uncle and paid for his ticket two years ago (our second 'roo and his first) because he had recently purchased a 27 foot camper . It wasn't until a few days later that I remembered that he has a handicapped sticker for an injury he got at work, so we have gotten to stay in the accessible parking area for the past two years and will again this year. I would never even think about getting one just to be closer, though.
(His foot was crushed by one of those large poles that hold signs over the interstate. He has to take lots of medications, walks with a pretty good limp, and is really sore by the end of a day of 'roo walking. He's a real trooper!)
P.S. Meg: It didn't seem to be too crowded in the accessible area, so if you feel you need to use it, you should.
The drive to VIP following the directions with the tickets seems long and strange. Two lane blacktop. Stay with it! The golden grail is at the Holiday Inn! From there the access to the campsite is quick and easy.
If you're not handicapped, then you should NOT be parking there....Shame on you if you're not handicapped.
It's a given you should never bring a placard just to get up close, but those that do really need the accessible camping like to party with their friends at 'roo like the rest of us. That's why Bonnaroo allows a companion vehicle to camp with a handicap vehicle.
I was a companion vehicle in '04 and all weekend long there were rude comments by passers-by as well as outright confrontations about my non-disabled self taking up space.
Something to keep in mind before you judge if you're walking through accessible camping this year and see someone who "doesn't belong there"... Not all handicapped 'rooers are solorooers!
Hiya! I am a newbie to both inforoo and bonnaroo. got my vip tickets friday and had a question. I've read every page in this forum but I still might have missed it. We have four people in our group. It is more economical to take one vehicle (yay carpooling!!) but we are worried about having enough space to put two tents under a tarp. Anyone have any insight on this situation? I would hate to have to bring two vehicles. But we feel like we paid enough that we should be able to have plenty of space to chill. Can't wait to see you guys there!! Great thread btw.

It's probably just me, but the directions for the VIP tickets seemed very confusing....but then the 2 or 12 beers I had on Friday when they arrived, and the excitement of holding the shiny smooth tickets might have influenced my "reading instruction skills"

Yes, it was a bit confusing. The problem lies with the fact that the exit they want us to take isn't on the map they gave us, but is off the map to the left. It's probably best to Google Map it (and hit the traffic button twice to get the exit numbers to pop up). Then just print it out, and take it with you.
It seemed from the pictures that people in VIP had plenty of space. Were bringing two gazebo tents, and a large blue tarp to place over them to create a large shaded area. Everyone feel free to stop by and say hi.

Anyone else planning to modify the provided directions a little bit? From Nashville, it seems to me that getting off I-24 at the suggested exit is a little bit of overkill. I think we're going to get off at the next exit...
