I personally am a huge fan of Ambien CR 12.5. Good for 5-6 hrs of sleep. Yes i do have a perscription.
How do you even go about getting a perscription for ambien? I have told my doc time and time again I have issues falling asleep and he always says work out to burn extra energy. I always tell him the same which is I already workout a few hours a day.
Then he says well eat better long story short he never says here try this. Oh I think he did tell me to try some oc stuff but that doesnt seem to work much either. I come home and am dead tired and still take hours to get to bed.

Jimi died from a combo of the two. He "accidentally" took a stronger dose than normal, and had been boozing. Thus causing him to throw up, choke on it and his body not being able to wake up to respond to it.
All I am saying is two sleeping pills might be two too many for some. Everyone's body reacts different to medicine. From what I've seen there's a good portion of the crowd who gets completely blitzed, so I thought I'd give a warning in the event that they do decide to pop some pills after a night of drinking, and the same thing happened.
Just trying to make sure everyone is safe out there...
^ Right. There may be medical reasoning why that doctor refuses to prescribe it or other sleeping pills. Too many people have bad reactions/sleep walk/abuse it/etc.
And Yes, Green helps me to wake up in the morning as well. It works for me on both ends.
Me too!
In regards to sleeping pills, if you're dumb enough to take prescribed sleeping pills for the first time at Bonnaroo mixed with whatever else you've ingested you deserve what you get. Most people have a good sense of what they can and can not do for their own safety. For ME I know I can take a sleep-ez or 2 after a hard day/night of partying and fall asleep faster and stay that way longer.
Not sure if this has been said, but for those who are coming from the North:
If you smoke cigs, buy cartons/packs in Kentucky or Tennessee... I live in Illinois (though I don't smoke) people I go with each year always wait to buy cigs in KY/TN because they are way cheaper than buying them here... (approaching $8 a pack where I'm at)
(ie. BEFORE bonnaroo... you dont want to buy cigs from the general store )
if someones rude at a show (aka pushes foward and stands in fornt of you when you've been waiting there all day) don't worry; they don't get "it"; you do

Car alarms go off constantly. Car alarms go off for hours on end. Car alarms go off less than 10 feet away diagonally from your tent. Said car alarms go off for hours on end and require you to gather enough forgiveness to jump start said associated car. Bring jumper cables. Bring ear plugs. Bring patience.

If it is going to be raining on the way to Bonnaroo, I highly recommend using rain-X before hitting the highway. Water basically just rolls right off the windshield in beads. Just be sure to apply it correctly (before it starts raining and buffing off visible traces).

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
the late night "weave" back to your tent can be pretty treacherous, esp if you don't have a lighter. I always bring several small solar lights to put around the campsite - helps more than you could imagine, and you also always have some charged AA or AAA batteries if you need them

I noticed a lot of posts about sleeping pills, and I thought I would throw in some advice since I've been taking Ambien for quite a long time.
A) Don't take it with alcohol. Not only will it make you feel that much worse in the morning (if you are still alive) it can do major damage to your liver. If you do drink and decide to take it, wait a few hours and sober up first.
B) If you take Ambien at Bonnaroo, make sure you are not sleeping alone. If I were you, I would only take it if I had my gf/bf or friend sleeping in the tent with me. It can make you sleep walk and/or hallucinate, and it is much better if someone is with you to make sure you stay put & sane.
C) If you are new to Ambien, make sure you have 7-8 hours to commit to sleep. I only need about 5-6 hours, but I have been taking it for a long time and am used to it.
D) Someone mentioned not being able to get a prescription. Try Melatonin first. In fact, most of you should try Melatonin first. It's much less addictive, it is a natural supplement and it is drug free. Probably safer to take with all of the partying going on.
I am a first timer to Bonnaroo this year, but I figured I could at least share some thoughts in this area. I will probably bring a couple of Ambien with me just in case, but I have never needed it on vacation, including camping, because I drink.
Re: shoes, I like 1 pr of cold rain shoes (waterproof ankle-high hiking boots) and 1 pr of well vented hiking shoes for hot days. I use socks because my feet are skinny and I get blisters easy.
Can anyone comment on the usefulness of sleep meds for Roo? I'm thinking of getting a prescription for 3 pills so I can sleep from 4am to late morning. I'll have plenty of shade to keep me cool, but I want to override my body clock.
I had a terrible time with Ambien so would advise against it, especially if your doc is being a tool. I have had sleep problems for about the last 3 years but Ambien turned me into a zombie the next day no matter how many hours of sleep I got.
That being said, when on the farm we take a little Xanax when we're ready to crash and it's enough to take the edge off. Turns out I'm usually exhausted by the time we get back to camp but I'm wired/excited and my mind won't shut the fuck up.
If you're looking at herbs/natural options, Melatonin is really helpful for some people. Valerian Root, Kava Kava, Chamomile may also be blended into any of the herbal sleep preps to add effectiveness.
Calms Forte has been around for years and years, homeopathic, I don't know how well it works.
Almost all of the other OTC sleep products have Diphenhydramine as their sleep ingredient so get the cheapest of it you can stand.
Also I can't recommend ear plugs enough. Just the little foamy ones yuo pick up at the drugstore can work wonders. Also a friend of mine swears by a sleep mask but they creep me out.
Like everyone else has said, try these at home, you still have a few days
The cell situation sucked pretty hard. It seemed like my phone just couldn't stay charged. I think it was a combination of the heat and everyone's phone having to spend a lot of effort negotiating for an available channel. When I had enough juice, I generally had no problems with texting, etc. (I have Sprint.) The iPhone/AT&T crowd seemed to be suffering, though. I heard some folks say their phones more or less didn't work the whole time.
I had a lot easier time when I resorted to turning my phone off, unless I was actually using it.
You have to remember a couple of things when it comes to cell phones. First, if you have had your cell phone and the battery that came with it for a year or more, your battery has lost at least 20-30%+ if not more of its ability to hold a charge, depending on how you care for the phone.
Second, heat kills a batteries ability to hold a charge. This also shortens the life span of the battery.
If you couple the two, you will have a tough time keeping a charge. Best way to work around this is to make sure you have a fresh cell phone battery if you can afford it (or if you need it), and make sure to charge in your car every night.
Of course, tent-only campers have to get creative since it's a pita to walk all the way back to your car for a charge, but there are other options.
Something to add to this... if you're way out of your home network, and reception is poor overall, I've heard that your phone has to work harder to get a signal and this contributes to the overheating and battery drainage. I've had this happen while camping in Maine (I'm from Boston)...the battery gets really hot and drains super fast. The best solution was just to turn it off whenever possible so its not constantly searching for a signal.
I have always been surprised how god awful bad my cloths smell when I get home. When you are on the farm pouring sweat into your socks, etc you can't smell it. The second you get home into a "clean" environment, the smell could nock you out. So I bring an extra trash bag to put all my cloths I wore during the festival. My first stop when I get home is the laundry room.
Noise bleed from centeroo was surprising to me, so bring earplugs.
Footwear - bring different types, your feet will get beat up more than you think, so I bring shoes and different types of sandals to rotate.
Another unexpected is how tired I am for a couple days after the fest, it's like the longest hang over ever. Mostly its because of how much energy it takes to stand all day/night, how much you are battling the heat and of course partying.
Last one that comes to mind, although the lines to the shower or wash stations may be long, it's amazing how good you feel after a rinse. I went 3 days one year with no showering, that first shower was amazing. In future Roo's I always wash up once a day, wakes you up better than coffee!!

Haha. I always put my clothes directly in the wash when I get home. I feel like they will infect the other clothes if I put them in the laundry basket.

One fellow inforooer I travel with brings his crappiest clothes each year and then disposes of them on Monday morning. 10 years I've been watching this and laughing.
