Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
The first year I shelled out for the showers. They are totally worth it and refreshing and I try to always indulge at least once during the festival. The process can be pretty time consuming, though. (Walking to the showering place, waiting in line, etc.) The rest of the times it is a pretty refreshing baby wipe bath for this kid. They are cheap and effective and they get the Bonnaroo off you for a couple of hours. My advice: full baby wipe bath BEFORE you crash for the evening while it's cooler then just a refreshing touch up before getting ready to face the day.
Body Glide. Gentlemen, that is the stuff. Gold Bond is refreshing (and tingly if you get the green kind) but I think that Body Glide is more effective at preventing chaffing. (The dreaded "disco balls" you've head alluded to in horror stories.)
I haven't heard it mentioned near enough: zip lock bags! I keep a couple of gallon ones in my bag to keep my camera, the schedule, cell phones, etc. from getting damaged during any rain that may fall. Also helps to keep stuff better organized in you pack.
Enjoy your journey! For many of us, Roo is also a road trip away. Take a few minutes to enjoy the sights. Giant dinosaurs (Dinosaur World!), a sign for Big Bone Lick State Park, a nice view. If you live in an area where you are regularly tormented with commercials for restaurants you can't eat at (Sonic, I'm talking to you), see if they are on your trip! I personally always hit up Mighty Taco as I hit Buffalo (mainly because it is awesome, even at 10AM), a Sonic and, if the wind is just right, I might even find a White Castle.
My other road trip tradition is to try and find a snack and a beverage that I've never had or seen before. A recent trip led to my trying candy apple, pineapple and huckleberry sodas, not to mention reuniting me with dill pickle flavored potato chips. (I'll admit that it was unfortunate that they were at the same stop as the candy apple soda. Not a good combination.)
I hope that you all have a great time and enjoy your trip!
Last year my wife and I took a shower on the last day. I wondered why everyone was taking so long in the showers... until I got in. The water was being pumped in from the ice truck! It was SO COLD that you could barely stand underneath it, let alone get used to it. Had to stand back and splash the water on. It sucked. But we felt real nice afterwards. Definitely worth it to not smell like a fart on the way home.

I took a nice warm shower last year using a solar shower. It was a pita because we were in tent only and one person had to hold the bag up while the other showered on their knees. Totally worth it though. If we camp by our car this yaer, I will be showering every night.
cdevaney--White Castle? Does NY not have these. There's at least two in Bloomington that I know of, well actually maybe just one but I would not go in one of those if you paid me. Only because of the freakin onions.

There was a sonics on the way home from roo last year and it was the greatest meal of my life. Are there any white castles in the southeast? I've been craving it bad ever since I saw Harold and Kumar. The only time I've ever seen one was stumbling back to my hotel in NYC after a night of partying too hard. Tried to find it again the next day to no avail

There is one in Downtown Nashville off the Broadway exit..
There are White Castles in NY but only down near NYC and out on Long Island. There's a full list of locations here www.whitecastle.com/locations/all but it looks like TN may be as far South as they go. I wasn't a huge fan last time I went but it was interesting to try something new. (Though mainly because of the movie.)
Sonic, on the other hand, is great. There's now one about an hour and a half away from where I live and I try to find excuses to go there : ) They also have a location finder here www.sonicdrivein.com/locator/ if you need it.
Best of all, both have a road trip option where you can type in your route and they will let you know where they are along your way.
what we do have in the South is Krystal hamburgers....pretty similar to White Castle I think. little teeny square burgers that are awesome when drunk or if you have a good case of the munchies. just be equipped with antacid chaser...
First place me and the guy I carpooled with went after roo was the sonic right in Manchester. It was amazing and probably tasted way better right then then it would any other time.

I hate krystals. I know they're supposed to be about the same, but I have to believe white castle must be better. and I'm still determined to try some

It took us two days to finally realize that our Tallahassee Florida watches were still on Eastern time - completely forgetting that the Farm is on Central time! ??? (Never did get to see the performance of The Art of Such N Such with the Smoke rings last year. We thought the show was canceled due to the awesome thunderstorm Thursday night - turns out we were just wayyy early)
krystal burger is so gross. i too hold out hope that one day when i finally try white castle it will be all it is hyped to be.
we forgot about the time zones too but fortunately someone awesome here posted it the day before we left and we changed the car clock. i dont remember if we did our watches but we got to shows on time so i guess we had to have changed them.
bring a bucket to wash your feet. do not underestimate how gross your feet will get, or how clean you will feel all over if you just wash your feet.
White Castle are worse than Krystal.......if that is even possible. When I move to Nashville, I bought ONE Krystal, took a bite and threw it in the trash.
Stay away from both if you value your stomach. We don't call them gut bombs for nothing.
Since this once useful thread has went in the other direction. We get A&W commercials and dont have them. I don't really like rootbeer or milk shakes, A&W rootbeer milkshakes are the best. They sound disgusting, but they are the best thing on the planet!
*ear plugs are a godsend, when you are wiped and just want to sleep it sucks waking up to a dude completely out of it, lost and calling for his friends, lesson learned.
*Loaves of white bread get completely smushed by saturday
*Forget bringing a stove it's too hot - granola bars, canned soup, etc do the trick
*If you give the guy at the broo-ers tent a nice tip and ask nicely you can drink for free, for awhile
*You will think about Roo all year and count down the days at least six months in advance
*The Jack Daniels distillery is under an hour away, make that part of the road trip!
3/19 Portugal the Man 3/31 Japandroids 4/3 Alberta Cross/BRMC 5/1 White Rabbits 5/7 OK GO 5/14 Mumford and Sons 6/2 The National 6/10-13 Roo 8/21 MMJ and Tom Petty
I have a white castles down the street from me, and probably in every surrounding suburb. I never eat it sober. It is always the last stop after a night of drinking. It makes hangovers so much worse, but for some reason me and my friends still cannot keep ourselves from that place when we're drunk. We call them sliders here, probably for the same reason druid calls them gut bombs.

I'm pretty sure that Krystals is to White Castle as Carl's Jr. is to Hardees. They're the same restaurants/food with different names in different parts of the country.

I personally don't like White Castles but just to let you know there is a White Castle in Murfreesboro, TN. It's less than a hour away from Bonnaroo grounds and it was across the street from the hotel I stayed at....just sayin'. :]
This is a terrific thread, and I've learned a great deal about what to expect at Bonnaroo this year. I have a question that I have not seen addressed here however, I will be attending for the first time, I'm about to turn 50, and I'm not at all interested in standing through all the shows. I had knee surgery a few years ago and now if I stand for more than an hour, that leg will go numb and then get painful. I don't care about being up close to the stage, so my question is whether there will be an issue with me sitting down and listening from the back. Can I bring a chair? Would there be a place to set it? I don't mind sitting on the ground, but will I be able to see? I know there are several different venues, some tents, some outdoor stages, what would be my issues at the different locations?
Ok, well that turned out to be more than just the one question I guess. Any info would be appreciated.

You can bring a chair. Go shopping now. You want one that folds up, goes in a bag, and has a strap to throw over you shoulder. Get one that is light weight. Don't want to lug 15 pounds of chair around. Believe it or not, best one I got was at Walgreens. Sits low to the ground.

Yeah this wont be a probelm at all espeacilly at What or Which stage where it always seems there are more people sitting then standing. The tents arnt bad either you can still hear fine sitting off to the side.

These felt really good on days 3 and 4 last year.
I bought 2 of these last year for Bonnaroo. I did not have any trouble getting them into Centeroo. They're pretty sturdy, and very comfortable (if you're not particularly large). They're so comfy, I fell asleep through 2 shows last year. Well, the tequila played a role. I also used them at Lebowskifest. I did not find them difficult to carry around at all.
