We are bringing a stove, but my man is a Boy Scout and you don't go camping without a stove. Its mostly for coffee and breakfast stuff like davidbyrnesbutler said. We aren't bring a bunch of perishables, just quick easy stuff.

I have brought a grill each year for the morning essentials - bacon / breakfast tacos or migas - coffee
This year there are a few people bringing their own grills, with that in mind I will not be bringing cooking equipment / camping food It feels kind of strange? like I'm forgetting something when I look at my check list, except I know I'm intentionally forgetting it. For any level of exposure to roo coming in, I'd say the best bet is to make cold pressed coffee at home for super cheap before you come - store it with your beer - and leave the stove at home.

Maybe it's just my Boy Scout experience (hey Vieux) but I feel like people are acting like bringing a camp stove is some huge inconvenience or difficult project.. It's actually extremely simple, takes up very little space (especially if you use the small, 1-3 time use propane tanks) and you're not out much if you don't use it anyway. I can't imagine leaving mine at home.

I agree that it is only as big of an inconvenience as you make it. With that in mind: 2 burner stove | mini prop tanks | utensils for grilling | grilling platter | table | utensils for eating / plates | food to cook
While it isn't actually that much stuff, it can in fact be the difference between a full pack and a snug pack. While I completely encourage saving money, cooking, and the community spirit that arises from the smell of early AM bacon - I do also feel that it is at the very least a "project with a degree of difficulty"

as an Eagle Scout, I can confirm that for the normal camper at Bonnaroo, setting up a stove and cooking is an inconvenience. Most people aren't going for the camping experience. Air mattresses and electronics seem pretty common. For me, I like to get away from that stuff when I'm at Bonnaroo. I think I posted twice on Inforoo during the festival last year (both regarding $1 grilled cheese)
I agree with planning for vendors in campgrounds and Centeroo, but sometimes it's nice to not walk very far and cook some eggs or something. If you're not tight on space, doesn't hurt to go ahead and pack a stove and some propane. My group uses it when we are already at camp (not going back and forth just for food), but we also volunteer and get there early, so we need to plan for when the vendors weren't open yet.
If you can afford it, vendor food makes things a lot easier. Bring some non-perishable snacks too. Trail mix, etc.

My son is Star and will be Life after summer camp. He has his Eagle Project planned already (he turns 17 August 1). Perfume and gasoline hasn't grabbed his attention yet. He is way too far into Anime and video games...He is determined to get Eagle, it's one of the few things that he has stuck to for so long.

Keep him on top of it! One of my biggest life regrets thus far is not making Eagle.

That's what I was thinking. I was never a scout, but grew up in the woods on camping and backpacking trips, and bringing either a stove or utensils and ingredients to cook over a fire was always top priority. I'm sure I won't be using it for every meal, and probably not even every day, but I figure it's better to have the option than not. Worst case scenario I waste a carton or two of eggs and some sausage, but if I keep plenty of ice in the cooler I can bring what's left home anyway.

If you get fresh eggs that haven't been rinsed or refrigerated yet, even if you don't use them they won't go bad.
Yeah, open flame is a big no-no. Besides the fact that you could easily start the whole festival on fire with tents so close together, there is also the distinct possibility of someone falling into your fire. Plus, nobody wants to add a roaring fire to a ninety degree day.
I fully support the idea of hitting up the vendors and food trucks. I brought a stove and cooked my first year and never did again.
That's true on the fire.. Never thought about people falling in. And is it still that hot at night? I live in East Tn and it's not usually too bad here once the Suns been down an hour or two. Maybe it's the difference in elevation or something. But I'll probably go the food truck route for the most part, and just cook eggs and sausage on a propane camp stove for breakfast.

Hmm, true.. I never thought about that. Do you know anywhere near the farm to get them fresh?
Hey does anyone have a good cool mens shade hat they would recommend? Been looking at The North Face Horizon Breeze Brimmer Hat. Wasnt sure if someone has a hat they swear by or anything.

I have no clue. I was going to hit up my sister here in NOLA because she has a chicken coop. Maybe one of the locals can help out with that.
If you're driving in from the west via Nashville, there are dozens of farmers markets / corner markets on the highways prior to entering Nashville proper. Keep your eyes peeled, watch the signs, and you can pick up enough fresh goods to last the whole weekend and not have to transport it through a long road trip.

I haven't seen a question about this before. I would like to set up my 5th wheel camper for my family on the first festival day and then leave (with the tow vehicle?)and come back to retrieve the camper after the festival ends. What are the issues that I need to deal with? Do I need a festival wristband to enter the camping area to setup. Can the vehicle exit the camping area and leave the grounds? Can I gain re-entry to the site after the festival ends?

First, everyone entering the campgrounds needs a festival wristband.
Per the Bonnaroo website it sounds like you would need an RV pass for your camper. See excerpt from FAQ and bolded portion below:
Can I Bring My RV? Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: An RV pass is required for each RV to enter the campgrounds (think of it like a GA or VIP wristband for your RV). Each RV space will be 20′ X 50′. Tents can be set up if they are within this space. Any slides or awnings must fit within the designated space as well.
The following vehicles are considered an RV, and require an RV Pass: Any size RV: Class A, Class B or Class C Any size bus (no tour buses, prevosts or motorcoaches allowed) Any vehicle longer than a normal 15-passenger van (20ft.) Any vehicle towing a camper or 5th wheel of any size. If you’re hitching anything, it’s an RV. Box trucks and trailers are not allowed into the campgrounds.
Furthermore, from the companion vehicle information just below that:
COMPANION VEHICLE INFORMATION Looking to bring an extra car with your RV? Along with the RV Pass, a companion vehicle must have a Car Camping Pass. Companion vehicles must arrive on site at the same time as the RV. If you are towing anything, you do not need a Car Camping Pass (however, it MUST stay attached to the RV).
So it sounds like you cannot unattach your car from the camper, so you could not park your camper and then leave with your car.
Even if you could disconnect your car from the camper, you would have a hell of a time getting it out of the campgrounds before Friday evening, what with all the traffic coming in.

You cannot drop the RV and leave it. I imagine this is for any type of emergency (fire?) or evacuation situation that might arise. Your best bet is to have them come in with you as a companion vehicle and then leave in the companion vehicle. It's fairly easy to get in and out of RV using the highway tollbooth when open. You could also have everyone come in with the RV in the truck and catch RooRides at the gate for $5.00 to take you to a vehicle. This would save you from having to have a car camping/companion pass. Any scenario will require you to have a wristband and scan in and out at the gate.
