Just so I get this straight... You can enter the festival grounds on Wednesday but can't access tent only until 7am Thursday? I keep going back to this and wondering if I'm reading it correctly or if it is different from last year:
"The parking lot and campground will open at 7:00 am on Thursday June 14, 2007.... Please do not come early -- you will be turned away!"
So is it sleep at Walmart or what?
Also, I know at Coachella, all were warned too watch your alcohol intake during the day, if you chose to drink at all. Is it the same for Bonnaroo since it too will be very hot?
One more, is there shade in the Inforoo camping area or do yo depend on makeshift shade?
Thanks again and see you in 35 days, 1 hours, 44 minutes, and 41 seconds

You can enter campgrounds on Wednesday, but you will be put in BFE (way far out there). Tent only opens at 7am Thursday.

Always good to stay hydrated in the heat, so yes.

Makeshift shade. There is no shade in the camping areas (unless your the 1% that happens to get near a tree). You bring your shade.
They "Officially" open at 7am Thur but always start letting people in Wed night. Beware: If you come Wed night you will end up in BFE (30-45 min walk from the action) Tent Only opens Thur AM.
It will be HOTTER AND MORE HUMID than Coachella by far. Know your limits and stay hydarted. Drink LOTS of water.
There is NO shade in most camping areas, including Tent Only. Some outer areas (BFE) have shade but bring your own. You will be glad you did.
See ya there.
* D'Oh! Ole beat me to it!

This website is great, and has gotten me more excited for roo (which i didn't think was possible). I am a first time roo-er and a first time forum poster. 2 quick question... Where is the closest gas station coming in on 24 so I can fill up before I get in and how far do you have to carry your stuff from the parking to the tent only section?
Thank you and thanks to everyone for their wonderful insight
they will park you anywhere from a few minutes to an hour (walking) from the tent only section, and from centeroo. You can either camp by your car, or lug to tent only, thats entirely up to you.
Hey all. This site is so great for us "first-timers". Thanks for all the great info. So, unfortunately, I have to get back home ASAP after the WSP show to go to work on Monday and we have about an 8 hour drive so I was wondering if anyone can tell me if its possible to leave bonnaroo on sunday night after widespread panic or will it be impossible to get out? We'll be parked in the RV camping area. Thanks!

there''s def a discussion on that topic here somewhere. I think it boils down to try and park on the edge, or get to know your neighbors.
i love this thread and this site! my friend and i are bonnavirgins and we can't wait. unfortunately, we're taking my lil' jetta and we read on the bonnaroo site that the grounds can be a little rough. How bad can it be so we can ultimately decide if we'll rent a jeep or something that can take the terrain?

thanks again!
It's basically flat farmland with gravel roads. I wouldn't guess there's over 50 feet of elevation change over the entire property. I wouldn't worry about your Jetta. My lowered truck has never had a problem.
you will have no problem with the jetta, just drive slow.
someone asked about cost. you can eat and drink water, soda, etc. for $25 per day Then factor in beer in Centeroo. Anything else you buy will be extra - like CD's, drum, t-shirts, so factor that in. otherwise, if you use this site to plan what you bring you can be reasonable about what you spend. A lot is included for the ticket price.
I took a Jetta the last two years. The terrain wasn't a problem, space in the car for everything was.
Don't forget to bring sun window shades for your car - for both the front and back windows. Also, keep in mind, things like Carmex melt and lighters explode in vehicles in the type of heat. Last year my Listerine PocketPak strips melted in the car even with the sun shades in the windows.

well I'm from Texas and have learned from that awful mistake! lol gummy bears sitting in the cup holders is never a good idea!
and about the space...We're trying to figure out how we're gonna put the tent in. We'll probably strap crap to the roof. Hope that works out!

I never strapped anything to the Jetta's roof - I was always worried about scratching the paint. I did look into buying the VW luggage carrier for the roof, but it was very pricy.
Our tent always fit in the trunk, but the EZ-Up shade tent didn't without putting one of the backseats down. The EZ-Up doesn't fit nicely in my new SUV either and I still have to fold down a backseat.
I was thinking about buying a luggage carrier too but I hear you have to get them directly from VW. Is that true?
How big is your EZ-up? We haven't bought a shade canopy yet but from all the info on the board it sounds pretty important. Do they only come in one size?
We're thinking the tent and car trouble stuff in the trunk, the ice chest and travel grill in the backseat, and packing light as far as clothes goes and all the bonnaroo proboard essentials wherever we can put 'em! I guess that's what we're most nervous about. All the advice on the board has gotten us pretty ready but we really have to figure out how to put all this crap in our car. We don't want to leave important stuff out. Although I hear people are willing to share fire pits. Maybe we could leave that out? Yeah, just nervous about packing!!
ohh and thanks TickTrix for all the help so far. I would give you karma but I'm completely computer illiterate. Maybe that exalt button. I'll try that!!
