I think wall mart sells a roof rack for cheap....then you can load up the roof.....just amke sure you bungie it on there good and put the big stuff towards the back and the front part slanted low to keep the wind resistance down. Don't forget bug repellant...... Wild Oats has some natural bug stuff called Bite Blocker......reviews says it works very good........i bought some bug stuff called Repel Lemon Eucalyptus at Walmart. They say it works better than the deet stuff. I sprayed it on some ants trying to make a home in my basement room.......they went nuts and was like "WTF! Who sprayed me with this crap.....ahhhh! gET IT OFF ME! I'm freaking out".....LOL They were stumbling around like little ants on 6 cans of red bull and stumbling at the same time like 10 shots of vodka....LOL....poor little guys. I like ants, but not in my house.

Where is the best place to keep your cooler when you're not at your campsite. It seems like the Roo is the kind of place that I don't need to worry about people taking something out of my cooler but what about a cool place. We'll have a canopy and I'm assuming the tent and the car will heat up pretty quickly so I'm open for any suggestions.
It depends on the size of your cooler and the logistics of your tent...but, last year I kept the cheap styrofoam one I used under one side of my rainflap (since my tent opened on two sides) and that seemed to be sufficient. Although, I was only concerned with keeping beverages cold, I didn't have any food that could spoil.
As for the Camelbak question- I delevoped I techinque that worked fairly well that I would be happy to pass on. In the morning, buy a bag of cheap ice from one of the vendors you'll find around Shakedown. Then fill your Camelbak reservior with the ice. When you get to the security checkpoint at Centeroo, you can demonstrate that you don't have any water in your pak by legitimately trying to drink out of it (ice won't have melted yet so nothing comes out). Additionally, if the security pats down your bag, it won't have the swishy feeling that water has since the ice hasn't melted yet. This plan worked for me every time but I also never had a super overzealous security guard and none of them ever did more than pat down the back of the bag and look in front pockets. Bonuses of this technique: ensured that I was always drinking nice cold water that didn't smell like sulfur and I got to use the excess ice to restock my cooler.
You are supposed to only have empty camelbacks in centeroo... a lot of the l;ines will let you through anyway, though. Pick the fast line. If they tell you "no" then just head to another line and give it a shot.
I'm sorry if this has already been asked but if you do tent-only, do you get to go back to your car whenever? My friend and I are bringing a laptop to make updates on the fest for a website but we're a little frightened about just leaving it in our tent.
you can go back to your car whenever you want but I would leave the laptop at home - you can email friends and stuff from computers in Centeroo - they provide them.
I normally do not travel without my laptop - but the dust, dirt, potential downpour, extreme heat, etc. - is no place for a laptop
Ok I'm driving in from Knoxville and this is my first time to 'Roo. Mapquest suggests I take I-40w to TN 55W, and Google maps suggests I take 75S to 124 W. There is only a 20 mile difference between the two, I was just wondering if any of you more local veterans had any suggestions for which is less congested due to traffic or construction. BTW love the FAQ's posted, it's really gotten me more excited than I thought I could be!
question that I'm not sure hasnt been answered but I'm gonna ask it anyway....
I know you can bring a small grill to your camp, however I dont know if its just charcoal that is okay or if a small propane grill would be okay too? What are their stance on propane?

This is from the info guide on their site:
"PLEASE follow these instructions if you are planning on using a grill. You can use gas/propane fuel sources or charcoal, but scavenging for wood on site will NOT be permitted. The fire must be entirely contained and off the ground. Air quality is a concern. Please keep the fires as small as possible and extinguish them as soon as you are finished. When you are done cooking with charcoal, put it out with water before going into the show or going to sleep or leaving your camp, rather than letting it burn out over time. In any case, DO NOT DUMP COALS ON THE GROUND (ever) or in the trash until they are entirely cool. After the coals are COMPLETELY DEAD, dispose of them properly as garbage."
uno more question: OK, so they say no professional photography but I'm bringing my SLR. no tripod, no fancy lenses. just the camera and its original lens. Is this OK or will they not allow me into Centeroo with it?
I have a question about liquor. I needs my Sailor Jerry, but it only comes in glass bottles. Has anyone run across this before, and if you have, how did you solve the problem?
Also, I wanted to bring a couple bottles of wine, but I wasn't sure what tally they counted towards. Beer? Liquor? How much wine would I be allowed to bring?
First-time Rooer, and I'd appreciate any help. Thanks guys!

sakichan.. for the sailor jerry, just get a plastic flask and fill it full of it. Or, if you need a bunch, get a type of liquor that comes in a half gallon plastic bottle, and transfer your liquid. Put that in your trunk for safety, but really, try not to get pulled over
greetings all, im new to this board...i went to coachella this year (my first festival), followed by voodoo fest, and for 2008 i am intending on going to the roo...i know that on the coachella forum there was a thread for people who were planning on camping, but were going solo for whatever reason...is there a thread like that on here...none of my friends have been to any festivals and i cannot convince any to come along (money issues, not enough bands they care to see, etc)...any help would be nice...lates

Welcome to Inforoo! And hope you are on InfoVooDoo too! Hope you had as good a time as I did at VooDoo....several of us 'Roosters were there....sorry we missed you!
Yes...there WAS such a thread...would find it and post the link but it wouldn't do you any good now - LOL! There WILL be a new one for 2008....there will be others that will be solo....heck I may be....never know till the last minute It's more fun that way....keeps the drama ;D And there is no such thing as camping solo with Camp InfoRoo! And Camp Corncat That is the nicest thing about this place - you make the nicest friends that turn into the nicest camping buds! ;D Trust me
So....no worries....around April the thread will appear....and Corncat shall deliver
Like they ^^^ said. We basically sponsor two "unofficial" camps at roo. We have Camp Inforoo in the tent only area of GA. And Camp Corncat was in VIP last year (right?).
We had a huge group of people from all over stay at Camp Inforoo last year and it was a blast. If your worried about finding people to hang with, no worries, you have found them!
Welcome to the board and hope to meet you at da roo this year!
in reply to the sailor jerry..... ive been bringing jager in a plastic thermos.....it works out well being that its plastic and it sustains the chill if you keep it in a cooler.......hope to see ya on the farm....perhaps we'll have a drink.
There's not a thing worth remembering When tomorrow can bring someone new Get used to the thought You can't be what you're not Life has already got plans for you
Not sure if this has been addressed before or not, but i was wondering if there is handicapped parking and accessibilty. My husband has trouble walking but really wants to go with me and i was curious what the situation might be like for him. !! Thanks
They have what they call "Access Camping" which is much closer to the gates. You need to have a current handicapped tag with you which is registered to your husband and they will direct you there.. Once the site is updated for 2008 a bit more I'm sure you can find more details. I know several of the board members have camped in access before, perhaps they can answer more questions also
All we needed was the handicapped placard that hangs on our rear view mirror. The campsites are within 100 yards of centeroo, and there are designated entrances so you don't have the major lines. We didn't really use any of the other perks but there are special viewing areas at the What and Which stages. The people are amazingly helpful and there was plenty of room for everybody
