i have gotten most of my questions answered thru this site and wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted anything on here. it has helped drastically!! i do still have a few extra questions tho. can i bring a small backpacking stove (msr)? it uses gas so i didn't know. are late nite acts scheduled or just by chance? are there plenty of porto-jons in the camp area or do i poop in the woods? if im in BFE how far a walk is it REALLY?? 20 mins is no sweat but an hour would totally suck bolls! if this post is in the wrong place, sorry man. cant wait to get my roo on! thanks again to all!!
There are a lot of porta johns near most of the camps. Late night acts are scheduled.....superjam is a surprise and so is the act after the masquerade ball. BFE is FAR....I wouldn't say an HOUR but a long ass walk especially when there is no shade and its 95 degrees.
Somebody else wanna jump referring to the stove because I'm not sure of the rules on those kinda things.
Backpaclk stove would be ok, no open fires (camp fire, bonfire) Many portojohns, but people still poop in the woods if you are close. (would not reccommend) Never really been far out in BFE, would think that max walk time would be 40 mins, but someone else may have a better ides. I have never been more than about 20 min walk to Centeroo. Late nite acts are shceduled, but do not always end on time.

There are plenty of porta potties everywhere and the further out in the campground you are, the cleaner they are, although mostly they were wonderfully clean
And if you are in BFE - which I was last year - the walk can be up to about 45 minutes to Centeroo. I learned the hard way, if you are camped in BFE, DO NOT go back during the day. Plan on spending the whole day and night in Centeroo or you will wear yourself out with the walk.
Yes you can take a backpacking stove to the campgrounds but not in Centeroo. We took a mini Weber grill and cooked but probably won't do that again with the variety of good, cheap food available.
There are plenty of port-o-poties so please poop in there. It is so gross to come across human shit in the grass or where ever! We always bring our propane stove. And I never timed our walk last year but it was long! We were in pussy galore along the trees.
Worst Porta potties are in Centeroo and on Shakedown The ones I have used elsewhere in the camp are pretty clean. I have seen some of them being cleaned out pretty often.

Also one sure fire way to end up in BFE is arriving too early....I think something like before 8:00am on Thursday they put you out there.
I tried to tell another group of people I knew who were going this....but they neglected to listen to me...arrived at 7:00am and sure enough...Bun F*ckin Egypt. We arrived between 9:00-10:00am and had a prime spot.

Yeah they were pretty gross down there. One of the only reasons I was thankful for camping in BFE was the potties were spotless out there!! My daughter and I are both pretty picky girls when it comes to that stuff, but those things were cleaner than my bathroom at home!!
word. thanks for the info. by the way, i woulnn't poop in the woods unless i had to. and if i did, i would bury it so grumpy smurf wouldn't step in it.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
I do not remember bugs either, but I think that they are there for the music anyway. Why don't they have to buy tickets. Is there a higher calss of bug in VIP?

I should add that the chiggers were in '05, and I was camped in the BFE/back campground. I think they are worse back there. Last year I didn't really have a problem at all with them.
I was closer in at BFE in 05, and got no chiggers, got a ton at home last summer, that sucked enough to make the mention of them make me start itching.
People keep talking about when you should arrive - for a first-timer, how are you supposed to know how long the drive is going to take? Obviously even early Thursday morning there will be serious traffic. We will be driving from Nashville, aiming to arrive at about 8am. When should we leave?

Ticks and chiggers will be worse the if you are near the woods.
