Hi as stated summer 2007 will be my first Bonnaroo. It wil just be me and my girlfriend going we are both 18. I live 2 hours from Manchester already so I know what the summers are like and stuff. I am just a little confused on how the whole process of camping works. I drive a 97 jetta thatt is lowered 2 inches so I cannot really drive in mud or grass if needed. Upon arrival where do you go? Do you park in a parking lot then go to your camping spot? Or do you drive to it in the grass? Is your car safe? This is really my only concern I have read alot of guides but I know most people dont have a problem with transportaion but I do. Can anyone explain to me the whole process of arriving and what tickets I should buy there are so many options im confused. Thanks for the help

As we all drive in to Manchester...the line begins.. You drive (slowly) in line for an hour or two until you get on the farm. As you enter, you start multiple lines through man made gates. You give them your ticket(s), you get a cd and a program. You get your wristbands...yatta yatta yatta. They also check your car. So put all things away and glass bottles on bottom of the cooler. As you drive away from checkpoint you file back into a line and you are now at the mercy where they put you. Your not the only one with a jetta so your fine! Although the mud sucks if it does rain! You follow the line until they put you in your spot. There will be a small clear area behind or in front. Hurry up and claim your spot. Your tent will be in front or behind your car. I recomend shade tents...
What time you get there is still a roll of the dice when it comes to how close to centeroo. Wensday night they let people in (they seem to get the shaft) I'd show up around thursday 8am...wait an hour or two in line, and bam your in!
You can always unpack your car up...and take all your things (except the car) to the camping only area. it is closer to centeroo, but the perks of your car are gone! hmmm
have fun, welcome to inforoo, and anyother questions..just ask!
A couple years ago my friend got semi-stuck in mud...I nudged her out with the Jeep I was driving. I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem finding someone to do the same, if needed. I personally think you'll probably be fine. Just be careful.

Erm....you might possibly want to get some alternate transportation if you're that low. You can find pictures of the campsite and judge for yourself, but the grass is pretty tall on Thursday before it's been trampled and the ground isn't terribly smooth once you get off the dirt roads. You might get hung up or stuck (especially if you've got near-slick street tires, as I'd assume you do with a lowered car). Though as was just said I'm sure the person in line behind you will give you a gentle (or not-so-gentle) shove if necessary to get you moving.
You should be fine. I drive a 2-inch lowered truck with similar clearance to your ride. Never had any problems yet (it was a bit tricky in '04 with the mud, but I just kept on plugging away until the rear hooked up). Just try to cross any humps at an angle.

This should help you get a grasp of the parking/camping situation. There are quite a few photos floating around different threads (I stole this from someone else's post) and the 'roo 2006 site had a lot of pictures in the archive section. Welcome to the experince that is 'Roo, vwagens
Ironically, I also drive a lowered 95 Jetta...but I'm riding coil overs. Mine is slammed all the time, and will be going into 4x4 mode the night before roo, mainly just because I can't haul all of my stuff down 71/65 on the way without rubbing.
If you're only on sport or race springs, I'd think you should be fine. I mean, worse comes to worse you have to push.
yeah they gave out a mix CD last year with a bunch of songs from the bands who were there. i still have mine, but i rarely listen to it...didn't think the track selection was that great.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

just out of curiousity. where is centeroo in that photo posted above?
im guessing the RV's are all the white things on the upper left.
ps. blue tents are popular huh?
Centeroo is top right. VIP and the main stage are top middle. One of the BFE areas is top left. The blue you see is many resourceful 'rooers using tarps to bridge between shade canopies or between cars to increase their shade at their camp. You should bring at least 2 tarps.
If you look at the upper right of the picture there is a "wall" of trees. Kinda like a square of trees. inside that is centeroo.
If you look to the left/upper, from there, you can see the main stage, it isnt really "inside" centeroo, its sorta off to itself, but you still have to go through the check to get to either centroo or the What stage...

Centeroo is top right Main stage is top left Tent only is the trapezoid below left of Centeroo (a little less crowded.) BFE isn't even in the shot (off to left)

BFE, as noted in the above picture, is probably actually closer than the spots in the far left corner of this picture. That's ridiculous and I hope I don't get put there. We were in BFE as you have it marked last year and it was about a 20 minute walk to Centeroo.

Far, far left top of the pic may be day-parking, but that's just a total guess.
I think at a normal pace we could have reached Centeroo in 25 to 30 minutes, but the person I went with was not athletic at all and paused in fear at every mud puddle.

Far left in ticktrix's photo is just GA parking - last year my friend came in at about 11:00 p.m. Thursday and that is where she was parked. I helped her carry her stuff to our camp that was much closer to Centeroo.
Day Parking last year was (again referencing the same photo) just below Shakedown, if you know where that was. Sorta close to that island of trees.

I didnt get a CD?!
We got a few of them - I actually found mine from last year under the seat of my car while cleaning it last week. Needless to say it wasn't that great of a CD
