If you had enough time you could do it cheaper. Or, if youe handy, get a good picture of that frame and make your own. study PVC would probably do it, at least if you are on the smallish side (ladies) I would think.
I looked and googled --- Walmart is the cheapest place for the Ozark Trail @ $79 with the sunshade, which is the one I like. I found the other one on ebay for $57 but shipping added $20, so I guess that is cheaper than $89 (plus shipping) from the hammock shop.
I still think that is reasonable for what you get considering it is a sturdy frame and hammock and sunshade. The sunshade doesn't seem to move, but it looks like it would be easy enough to hang a piece of fabric from it for early am shade.
I already have a Q size aerobed, so that is what I will bring this year. I still need all the essentials and a hammock, nice as it is, would be a luxury.
Thanks boomerang!! You know... my boyfriend is graduating in May as a "Construction Science" major... this sounds like something I could pawn over to him and call it "practice"!! But all kidding aside, that is a great idea you have and Im really excited to look into it! A hammock would be so sweet!! Although I think you may be right Lauraroo... a bit of a luxury...but since at this point I have neither a mattress pad, cot, hammock, etc., I think Ill call it an essential!
Oh I would love a hammock - but we would have to buy two - and we already have a queen size airbed also - so - just can't do it this year - maybe I will get Boz a hammock for his birthday and one for Christmas - LMAO
They have this in store at my local costco, I was eyeballing it this weekend, looks pretty nice. (but i did not test it out, so I cannot speak for the comfort)

Nice catch RR! After listening to elevator music for fifteen minutes or so I spoke with a lady at Coleman who said that it is indeed a recalled item if the model number is 2111-750 (which is the number costco lists). She said if the model number is 2111A750 or 2111B750 then the unit is not under recall. I sent Costco an email to check the model number for me.

No experience with them, but if you get the double hammock, make sure you get a frame that can support the extra weight, should you decide to double-up!

It may be too small for sleeping in unless you're short, but I saw a hammock w/stand for, I think, $29 on the back of the Big Lots ad in yesterday's (4/29) Sunday paper.
Could work for a small person...or, heck, just to chill out in even if you can't stretch out completely. I tried to make a link, but the Big Lots site isn't cooperating.
troo, do you recommend a hammock with or without the spreader bars? I feel like one with the bars would be hard to stay in, but the other style would close around you...

Yeah, I had the same concerns. I was thinking that the spreader bar hammocks (esp. the net types) would be cooler than the ones that wrap around you. So that's what I'm planning on buying.
My only concern now is.......if I buy one of those big ones, will I even be able to fit it under my canopy? ???
