in addition to the off-topics:
i totally love the barefoot contessa and alton brown - I have learned and tried a lot thanks to their shows. and I like Ace of Cakes. That show is awesome and Duff cracks me up.
omg i LOVE barefoot contessa, i make her recipes often (i want to steal her kitchen though!)
haha a few weeks ago i woke up on a sunday with killer allergies and took a benadryl - which is about as hardcore as I get. I fell asleep watching barefoot contessa making some kind of french toast bread pudding thing. My benadryl-induced dreams included her weeding my little flowerbed, I was making what she made on her show and trying to scrounge together some leftover ingredients, it was as if I woke up and these things were happening, and then i'd lay back down. Then I woke up for reals, without any french toast goodies in the oven and weeds still in the flowerbed. But barefoot contessa was just as nice in my dreams as she seems on tv.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
I'll second the moldy bread/bagel comment Last year we had bagels that went moldy by sat
granted we probably should of got em out of the tote box & in the cooler
..cooler! coleman xtreme coolers are the way to go we use 2 one for beverages /one for food we do eggs for bfast with greasy sides(hash, sausages) then burgers at lunch before going in to centerroo dinner 's steak/kielbasa ...if we get around to it...
snack bars/ fruit gummie snacks are your firiends bonnaroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Has anyone tried freezing those little fruit cups? I thought the suggestion was a great one to bring lots of fruit cups, and I like things that are cold in the hot hot sun. I wondered if they would pop open if frozen. That would tend to mess up the cooler with icky sticky stuff as they thawed out.
I'm thinking that the more food and water I can freeze and put in the big cooler the better. I plan on bringing 2 coolers, as suggested here on inforoo. One of those large five dayers to keep stuff extra cold and frozen with a layer of dry ice on the bottom, then containers of ice, then the food. Then use a second cooler to put food/beer in for the day along with some of the ice/water from the big cooler.
^^ we get the ones that are in plastic cups and just throw them in the cooler - they are cold - you can drink the juice from around them and then eat the fruit - no sppon needed
this will be my first year at roo, but im a big camper, so i know that bringing alot of food is a bad idea. but being the aspiring chef that i am, i know im going to bring too much, so everyone can come to my tent and eat.

Everyone seems to suggest bringing a small amount of food and just buying the bulk there, which makes sense but I'm a pisco vegetarian (no meat at all, but i do eat fish and seafood) and I was just wondering if it will be hard to find things from the vedors that are actually satisfying. For example, I don't want to be stuck eating only bread and cheese based meals for four days while others can buy actual meals. Does anyone sell fish/seafood/soy based meals?
Oh, and I have had actual sex dreams about Alton Brown. My boyfriend is extremely creeped out by it, but come on, he is sexy and smart, and knows how to make cake frosting using avacados!

Karma to you for giving a name to the type of vegetarian my daughter is (I had no idea) and there are tons of vegetarian options in Centeroo - good veggie and rice dishes and Iknow there are alot of other choices also.
Hmmmmm.....Fish or reptile? I think I will have neither.
I hope they have some good ole' poultry, beef, and pork. Especially pork barbeque. Do they have pulled pork BBQ at the 'roo? I remember some awesome BBQ the last time I went through TN.
There was this great little place over by the ferris wheel - yellow rice/black beans/grilled veggies and steak strips - they piled it all on top of each other and then put salsa and sour cream on top - it was delish!

I was worried about this as well. I only eat fish/seafood for my meat and didn't want to have to eat pizza and grilled cheeses all weekend (Not that i would mind, but my stomach would!). ;D

Thanks. This sounds like the way to go. Cool and fruity.
i am bringing pop tarts, apple sauce, soy joy bars, pb&j sandwiches, loads of red bull, spaghettios & iced tea. i could pretty much live off of that stuff.

Any word on the free water inside the venue? I forget where I heard that they had it.
Also, do they have taps at the campsites? Because I'd think it's very unreasonable to have to bring or buy all the water you consume there.
there are big water areas set up in all the campgrounds, taps to clean and drink from, and my personal favorite - the canopied mist tents (oh i love those!!) - I personally would rather drink bottled water but thats a preference thing
I see we have some "foodies" on the board. Thumbs up to you! I don't think I'm going to bring too much food. Sounds like there's tons available everywhere..And I LOVE to eat. ESPECIALLY when I've had a few tasty libations!
