So, really, I'm just curious. I don't know. Thought it could be interesting.
I waited for 3 hours in line... 6:30-9:30 Thurs. morning.
and you know, coming in on the bus, I'm actually going to miss the line. We had a good time (came in from the back in BFE), and didn't wait on the freeway. We all got out and partied in the line. Lots of frisbee going on.
So, who waited longest? Who got in quick? What are your strategies for beating the line boredom?

Last year was our longest wait. About 2 hours & 20 minutes (Bushy Branch) but, we were parked pretty far out there! As some of you may know already, Hilari and I had the sh!ttiest camping site/experience ever last year!
I have arrived between 3 and 4 PM on thursday for the past 2 years. In 2005 we waited at the entrance on the opposite side of the farm from where BFE is, not far from centeroo and waited in a rather quickly moving line for about an hour and got a killer spot that we didn't even use (long confusing story). Last year we arrived at the entrance where the way far camping is (not bfe, the other side)and drove right to the entrance with no wait, quick search and we were in, but had a bad spot.
We arrive around 5pm on Thursday last year via Bushy Branch and had no wait - but we did end up in BFE......
yea same for us last year. The year before we arrived early thursday norning and waited in line for 4 hours and still ended up in BFE just on the other side
last year we got in the line off I-24 at around like 12 or 1pm on thursday. the whole process to get our wristbands and get in took probably an 1hr - 1hr 15min tops, and we ended up somewhere around camp darth vader.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
I've always come in off Exit 111 from the direction of Nashville. Usually get there about 7am-8am.
2002: 4 hours - waited on I-24. 2003: 5 hours - got detoured to Exit 127 and back north. 2004: 1 hour - backroads to exit 111 and short wait. 2005: 1 hour - same as 04 2006: missed Roo so I'm not in the Vote.

came in from 24, down bushy branch last year on thursday between 4:00 and 4:30. no line at all. we had a quick search, but we were pretty far away.
however, i think i am the only person in the world who loves to camp far away. it's quiet, peaceful, and nobody treks all the way out there to steal your stuff. plus, we had trees lining the camping area. i find the long walk invigorating, and you get to see so much on the way to centeroo that you'd otherwise miss if you were to camp closer.

2004: Arrived at the I-24 exit closest to Nashville at 7:00 AM Thursday, Were Setting up Camp around 2:30 PM right behind tent only. (7.5 hour wait)
2006: Arrived at the I-24 exit furthest from Nashville at 8:00 AM Thursday, Were Setting up camp in BFE (over the bridge) at 8:45 A.M. (45 minute wait)
This year we're coming in late night Thursday. I don't figure we'll arrive until probably 2:00 A.M. We'll probably be in BFE. Oh well...
02-- crazy stupid traffic, can't really compare 05-- came in on bushy branch at about 11 on Thur. waited about an hour and a half, camped way out in the Griswalds 06-- came in about 8, line moved quick about 30 minutes, camped in BFE, Dr No.

Last year was the longest wait (2hrs), the parking crew was short on people and no one knew what to do. We were in an RV and they basically left us (me and 3 other RV's) to wander on our on, not fun at all with people everywhere.

Does anyone know anything about how they directed traffic later on Thursday evening (after 5 pm) if you entered at Exit 112 rather than Bushy Branch? I'm just interested because I'm thinking of trying that tactic.
got there about 3-4 thursday last year. all traffic was directed to go towards the back way. tons of cars were heading in that direction and i just blew right by them and headed to exit 112. 45 min wait to get parked and was only a 5 min walk to centeroo.

I had an identical 2005 so you get karma for making me laugh. I think I remember the guy directing traffic actually saying that.

I've heard rumors of people running out of gas while waiting in line... don't know if there's any truth to them though. Either way, that would really suck.
