Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I just received an e-mail from info@bonnaroo and spoke with the ticket issues people at the 800 number, and both told me that there will be only one RV area this year, i.e., not one or more for GA and one for VIP. I'd called to inquire whether it was worth it for me to upgrade my existing RV/GA setup to RV/VIP, but am now unsure. I know Roo's customer support has been a little spotty and ambiguous, but I asked repeatedly, and they said they expect only one RV campground, and that those in RV with VIP tix would have pedestrian access to VIP amenities, but not a dedicated VIP RV area. Any thoughts or info out there???
My thoughts exactly, but it seems hard to believe. I'd thought in years past that there were several RV campgrounds. Seems logical to consolidate all that generator noise and line-of-sight-blockage, not to mention the cleaning services, but it also seems too good to be true, as we'd have to be very close to Centeroo.
wont it be a lot easier for non-vip folks to slip into the vip section? and why did i pay a bajillion extra dollars to have to walk farther... sure, it beats bfe, but come on!

if that's true, it's really sucky.

maybe it just has to do with RV consolidation, making them all together.. who knows but i agree with you - VIP does get the short end of the stick on this one
oh and maybe they built RV hookups and this is why there will only be one RV section?

Well...after thinking about this....I could see all the RV's being in the same general area, with the VIP RVs where they were and the GA RVs right outside of that. They know exactly how many RVs will be in both, so they can easily open up the right amount of space
I also don't think there will be hook-ups this year. That is not something that is easy to install...
Agree with all above. If I'd purchased VIP tix, I'd be mildly disappointed, but only mildly, because I'm not losing anything, just gaining more neighbors. If I'm GA, I doubt I'd be able to sneak into VIP for food and drink because my lack of the right bracelet would be obvious. Obviously, I'd be ecstatic to have all RVs consolidated because us GAers would be that close to Centeroo. I'm sure they would've announced RV hookups if they'd installed them, and you're right, that involves an awful lot of work. As for upgrading, I'm talking about doing so via eBay, not paying a supplement to my existing GA tix. I've asked Bonnaroo to clarify, and will certainly post whatever they respond.
As a VIP'er (without RV) I wasn't sure what to think of this at first but after thinking about it for a few and reading everyones comments, it doesn't bother me just so long as the VIP with tents don't get kicked further away from the action or are harmed in any other way. If it does hold true that all the RV's will be up close then next year I would just take a GA RV instead of camping (or RV) in VIP. That seems counter productive to what the organizers would want though.

I have a hard time believing this....cause if it's the case then next year noone will buy a VIP ticket if they have an RV when they know they'll be in the same area anyway...that's alot of money lost for Roo if so....but like you said the bonnaroo peeps on the website that answer questions are extremely sketchy in their answers...i'd contact AC entertainment if I were you...just a suggestion so you know the best thing to do.
hmm, im still not knocking the benefits of VIP - the free beer on Thurs and food all weekend will more than compensate me for the extra money spent. plus discount drinks and a private entrance to centeroo. showers...toilets with AC... plus, some free shirts and posters...

uhm..... unless we have full on RV hookups this year, i will raise heck if this is true. even then, it's still pretty ridiculous because a big reason you buy VIP (even if you're in an RV) is to use the VIP showers and the proximity to centeroo, both of these will be negated because a GA ticket + RV pass would have given the same deal (can shower in the RV with hookups).
it's not worth the extra bones JUST for the "free" food and bleachers, imo.
It's great for the people that have bought GA + RV, and I'm psyched for you, but it's really unfair to those of us who have shelled out extra for VIP without this important bit of information.
not a very happy camper at the moment, writing an email to them myself to get to the bottom of this.

i wrote them, but i doubt I'll get a response before i leave for work, will keep you posted!
here's my email to them, I tried not to sound as peeved as i am
I'm writing to you with a bit of concern. It has been passed down to me through the grapevine of some fellow bonnarooers that there will only be one RV section this year (combined VIP & GA). Is this true? If it is, will this RV section have full hookups?
I have ordered VIP tickets for the first time this year, and also an RV pass. I have scrimped and saved to be able to afford these tickets, but I was more than happy to do so knowing that it would be the only way I could ensure the utmost in comfort and contentment at this great festival. I would be extremely displeased to learn that I could have been afforded the same proximity and general amenities by simply purchasing a GA ticket with an RV pass instead.
I'm 100% certain there will not be hookups. It's just not plausible. The amount of work required for that sort of arrangement would be far better spent elsewhere. I wouldn't worry about that, though I appreciate your concern regarding the bills you paid for Centeroo proximity. I don't see how GA/RVers would suddenly gain access to VIP showers. What they told me, and the whole thing could be BS, was that GAers would only get the parking spot, while VIPs would get the amenities, i.e., food, drink, showers, and direct Centeroo entrance. If nothing else though, maybe our little hysteria will force them into a considered, firm response.

I have prayed long and hard to Joe Pesci that this isn't true!! It just can't be. If I'm not mistaken, the rv section in '04 was closest to the green fence separating VIP from GA. If you really want to rationalize it, they only have X number of spots for VIP with X number of projected RV spaces based on previous years RV spot sales, which has sold out. GA is still on sale and theoretically, everyone could bring an RV. With VIP, you are guaranteed a campsite within the VIP area no matter what time you get there. If the first post is true then VIP RV's that arrive late could be placed in RV BFE behind all the GA's that have already arrived. Doesn't make sense but I'm gonna keep praying to Joe Pesci just to be safe.

i realize RVing GA folks wouldn't have access to the showers, BUT with hookups, everyone could shower in their RV, no problem. and if there aren't hookups, it could be even worse, the VIP showers might be suuuuuuper far away from this combined RV lot.
this is all somewhat speculation at the moment, but I believe we, as customers, should be given ALL the required info to make an informed decision before purchasing our tickets.
And with that, I totally agree. I love how Bonnaroo puts greater emphasis on logistics than other festivals, but I believe they could do much better simply by pushing out as much information as possible as soon as possible. That would honor the amount of money and time that most of us commit to this enterprise. I certainly feel that every last bit of info, including detailed maps and lineups, should be available a month out, but we both know that doesn't happen until the week of. My best bet is that there will still be multiple RV campgrounds, there will be no hook ups and VIPers will have the best location. While RV numbers are limited, I'm sure there are a couple hundred, and putting those next to Centeroo would be a huge obstruction to those camping behind.

What's their 1-800 number, I won't be able to think about a single thing the rest of the day till I know for sure that I'm not getting screwed on this issue.

perfect mix of "polite" and "stern". i bet the guy who got that email is terrified to reply with the wrong answer.

i wonderrrrrrrr if they opened ALL of the VIP area up to only car camping this year, and pushed VIP RV out to the first RV section in GA. that would make sense as to why it took SO long for VIP to sell out... hmmm....
just a thought: even though it may be one area maybe they will divide it into 2 separate parts (divided by a wall / fence). don't vip come in a different entrance anyway? VIP RVs might be directed to the section closest to centeroo that can not be accessed from the ga area. you VIPers give bonnaroo a nice chunk of change and i can't imagine them biting the hand that feeds them like this.
The RV FAQs page says explicitly that there will be multiple RV areas, with one for each tollbooth. Look forward to receiving more definitive word, but that appears to suggest it'll be like years past.

got a reply just as i was heading out for work, looks like I'll actually get a bonified answer eventually! will update when i get home.
Hi Alisa,
Thanks for your email. I am looking into this question... I forwarded it on to the appropriate people and am waiting on a response. I'll get back to you with the answer as soon as I can.

That really does sound like a raw deal. Proximity to Centeroo seems to be a HUGE selling point for VIP (I'm a first timer), and for GA/RV to get that "amenity" is kind of a slap in the face of people who paid twice as much for the same location...
