My family and I went camping this weekend and brought along Coleman air mattresses and it was the most I have slept while camping ever. My wife and I got smart and gave our double mattress to the kids and we slept in our own individual twin mattress. It made all the difference in the world to not feel every movement the other person made during the night.

I am thinking that is what we will be doing - plus - it is so hot - I don't want anyone sleeping up next to me!
the reveiws and opinions for this bed was much better than the ozark trail airmattress so I am definately happier to know this bed will last longer under my care. ;D
^-^ but I love to snuggle. if its hot bring a fan *giggles*

I've used Coleman in the past too. They're good. So are the eddie bauer ones. I got a really inexpensive one for indoor use, a raised bed for oly $45, it's a bit big for roo... but it's good for overnight guests. The only thing I don't like about air mattresses is if you have to share it with someone else. If it's just one person per mattress, it's much more comfortable. Otherwise, it's like rolling around on a balloon, rather uncomfortable.
I think I am going to Target and getting two of the twin size ones - great price and hopefully - when we are in camp - we will be able to get some sleep
I got the ozark trail queen size velour air bed from walmart cause I don't know any better. Is it decent? Or should I find another brand of air bed. Trying to find reveiws on it online.
I've got one of those and it works pretty good. It's comfortable and I don't have a problem with it deflating at all. I took it to a friend's house for about 3 or 4 days and it stayed inflated the whole time. If you've got enough energy, you can pump it by hand in about 10 minutes.
There is always someone around that has an airpump although it is someone I will remember for 2008. Definite need for a Battery operated airpump or at least one that hooks into your cigarette lighter, and a mallot. That ground is hard and dry!!

my friend brought that exact same mattress last year and had no problems with it..i borrowed a single sized "name brand " expensive mattress used several times by me and others with no probs,...my friend had no problems out of his..i however, had to reinflate every night, and evey morning woke up on the hard ground with a bunch of thick plastic wadded up under me...
We borrowed a friend's Eddie Bauer queen-sized air mattress. One side was velour/technosuede. I did refill it on Day 3, my sister brought a battery-operated pump so it was easy. This air mattress has been on a dozen camping trips and held up great; we plan to use it again this year!

air mattresses = so necessary!
I have always just put a few blankets down and a sleeping bag on top in all of my years of camping. Last year on a whim, I invested in a reasonable air matt. from wal-mart and it made all the difference. I got a queen and both me and the girl I brought found it quite comfortable, at least compared to alternatives.
I just bought one too. Ours last year kept deflating in the middle of the night. We woke up every morning on the ground. Someone said it earlier and I'll agree, I prefer the waffle-style air mattresses. The ones with the rows are never as sturdy.
Nows the time to look around for your camping gear; most of it is on sale real cheap because its the off season. I got my air mattress real cheap and a folding table and some odds and ends just because everything was marked down at least 30%.

In my experience with my air bed, NOTHING has come close to destroying it. Nothing has come close to destroying it, after all the hell I've put it through. The pinnacle moment was getting drunk on my friends dock, who lives on a lake. My drunk friends and I, naked and all, rafted that thing down the lake and back. It hit sunken logs, banks, and everything else our drunk ass selves steered it into. The next month I used it in my apartment before getting my furniture moved in, and it was just how I bought it. (Aside from the lingering smell of Evan Williams Whiskey.)
We used a queen-sized Aerobed last year, and it was heavenly. I think we'll probably bring that again. It is a pain in the ass to find a place to inflate it though. Luckily, we had a neighbor with a generator.
