NPR was interviewing THP this AM and they plan to shut down Exits 111, 114 and 117 on I-24 Thursday AM and direct traffic to Exit 127. Traffic will then come up HWY 41 and in the backside of Brushy Branch Rd. The one time they did this, I was in line for 8+ hour. They usually close exits around 7-8am.
This will only affect people coming down I-24 E thru Nashville. Plan alternate routes or get there early.
Couldn't you theoretically get off at Exit 110 and take 53 to 41 and get back on 24 going west at Exit 114 to get to Exit 112?
Also, mad smiter: You're really killing my buzz, dude.
whoa man, that's thinking outside the box. I like it.
I think exit 110 is usually closed off as well, but exit 105 puts you on 41. I don't know if they would let you get back on the interstate at exit 114 though???
Last year we took exit 105 (hwy 41) to hwy 55, took a left on 55 and went in through the west bushy branch entrance.
Do you think this means the people coming in westbound are going to get in much more quickly?
Maybe. If they get off on exit 127 coming from the East (which I hear there are signs directing people to do so), then no - but if they stay on the highway and go to exit 112, then probably. And they'll probably get better camping spots.

I'm just concerned that Exit 111 will land me in BFE. I'm almost willing to go all the way to Exit 134 and turn around to ensure that I enter at Exit 112.

Well, yeah 112 is probably optimal. The west BB Rd (exit 111)entrance isn't as bad as the East BB Rd entrance though, as far as where they put you.
If you're very concerned about your camping spot, I say go for the monteagle turnaround that you suggested.
Coming in Exit 111 has gotten me decent spots every time but others disagree. Going to exit 127 usually takes long enough that BFE fills up and you get a decent spot. But you can get BFE on Brushy Branch.
It's crapshoot either way. But if you're coming in Friday Exit 111 should be okay as BFE may be full. Still key word: CRAPSHOOT!

If they're directing people from the East to go in through Exit 127, do you think many of them are still going to line up at 112, or might one just be able to drive right up to the gate?

It seems to me that the further north that you exit, the more likely that you'll get put in the top right corner of the grounds (when you come in late night on Thursday/early morning Friday).
If I exit at 112, they'd have to guide me through all of Bonnaroo at night (2 AM) while people are everywhere to even have a chance to put me in BFE. I just don't see it happening. That's why Exit 112 seems like the best bet for me. Exit 111 is far enough north and out of the way that you're not dealing with nearly as much people traffic. I've gotta believe that they save some space closer to the entrances for latecomers rather than having to have people out guiding cars at all hours of the night, dealing with tons of pedestrian traffic, etc.
There will be lines at every open exit. I'd avoid Exit 127 unless they force you there because the line will be all the way up HWY 41 and take forever. Though it's fun to park and play frisbee and meet people while stuck in traffic.

Hey troo or anybody else knowledgeable,
You know anything about coming up 55 from the southwest (Huntsville>>Fayetteville>>Lynchburg>>Tullahoma>>Manchester)? Does that dump me at Bushy Branch Road? Is the traffic likely to be better, worse, or likely the same as from I-24 Westbound (I can go to Winchester and beyond to pick up I-24 Westbound if need be)?

55 will take you there, and traffic should be same as or better than the interstate. The only reason you would want to go to I-24 is to get a better camping spot.
Would really appreciate some help ehre regarding my directions Via Boston:
Heres the last portion of the directions...does this seem correct and is there an easier route???
16: Merge onto I-78 W via EXIT 21B toward EASTON PA (Portions toll) (Crossing into PENNSYLVANIA). 107.4 miles
17: Merge onto I-81 S via EXIT 1B on the LEFT toward HARRISBURG (Passing through MARYLAND- WEST VIRGINIA- and VIRGINIA- then crossing into TENNESSEE). 526.9 miles
18: Merge onto I-40 W via EXIT 1B toward KNOXVILLE. 132.8 miles
19: Take the TN-111 exit- EXIT 288- toward LIVINGSTON / SPARTA. 0.3 miles
20: Turn LEFT onto TN-111 S. 18.8 miles
21: TN-111 S becomes US-70S W / MEMORIAL HWY / TN-1 W / SPARTA HWY. 0.2 miles
22: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto US-70S W / MEMORIAL HWY / TN-1 W / SPARTA HWY. Continue to follow US-70S W / TN-1 W. 24.1 miles
23: US-70S W / TN-1 W becomes TN-55 W.
then the rest are just a bunch of random turns to bushy road...any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks, man. I gather that "better camping spot" is pretty random. I think I'd rather be in BFE somewhere than on the interstate for several hours.
Whatever happens happens and you don't have much control over it. The traffic management has improved DRASTICALLY over the years. Last year I waited 30 minutes . The year before I waited 5 minutes.
They close and reopen exits all day between Wednesday and Friday as the traffic ebbs and flows. They'll let people get off at the closest exit until that gets backed up. Then they make people get off at some other exit. If one exit gets bogged down they just route all traffic elsewhere. They have gotten very good at it.
In 2005 I was directed to some exit far away from 112. Then we were rerouted to the back entrance on some local road (away from the highway), but ended up being parked a 3 minute walk from Centeroo. It was amazing how we entered the back of the site but ended up being in the front.
You never know what will happen. Get there early, late, from whatever entrance and you'll get parked wherever they put you.
I came from Hunstsville last year and when we reached the farm we were basically directed to merge with the people on the highway. We only waited 30 minutes in constantly moving traffic.
I don't think most people can PLAN their way to a better spot or to a less trafficked route. What will happen will happen.
I'm coming in on I-24 E from Nashville. I was planning on taking exit 114 to hit up the walmart for last-minute supplies, then jumping back on 24W to hit exit 112. Do you think I'll be able to do that? Any ideas?
You won't be able to exit at 114 for most of the day Thursday, apparently. THP changes things as traffic changes. You can get off Exit 78B and go to Walmart in M'boro (30 miles before Roo.) Best Exit for supplies is 66B/Smyrna. There's a Krogers, Lowes, Home Depot, Publix and less traffic. Unless you just need Walmart.
To get to exit 112 you'll have to take chances with backroads and THP may manipulate traffic there too.
