Great thread, and awesome details ratskrad - it was actually your post which forced my hand into reserving a site at the KOA this year (for my first Bonnaroo experience). I had posted this in another thread, but what is the atmosphere like? In the past, based on the boards here, it seems like it is generally "quiet" and more subdued. My concern is that the whole friendliness factor of those sharing the experience inside the festival grounds isn't necessarily shared here. Any thoughts to add?
And a big thanks for the details in your earlier post!

So how was your first roo, lansman? Anyone else on here go the KOA route? Here was the ratskrad site version 2012 . . .

damn, that is a dope site! did you get good sleep there, being under the trees and whatnot?
Hello ! Well we are confirmed for our stay at the KOA this year, 2013.
For six years we have gone the VIP route but leaving our dogs behind at home always stinks. Since we travel with our motorhome over thirty nights a year they are quite comfortable traveling with us.
The huge benefit the KOA will provide is full hookups to run our air conditioning 24 hours a day. Another will be to arrive on the Sunday before and check out the surrounding area.
We are really looking forward to our stay this year and hope to see some of you at the campground.
I called the KOA yesterday to see about staying there for Wednesday night as an alternative to the Walmart lot. $194 for one night of RV parking! I know prices go up for festivals, but thats like 3 times the normal price.

guessing you're talking about the koa in Nashville? we've stayed there tues night the last two years and headed to the farm on wed afternoon. i'm not positive on our price but it was NOTHING near that much...i wanna say it was maybe $90 at the most. great place to stay for the evening. guess maybe they do jack it up for wed night but i wouldn't think it'd be that much

correction, looks like you're talking about a different KOA, my apologies
The cost is not based per night during the festival. The "package" is staying Wednesday to Sunday, so five nights. For a RV site with full hookups the cost was just shy of $1,100. I did not ask what a tent site would be.
Like is said, in past years we have gone VIP and with the RV pass and fees (in 2012) was $1666.80. So with the purchase if two GA tickets we will be close to that. On the plus side I will not have to run our generator in the motorhome this saving around $100+.
For us this is great because we will be able to bring our dogs with us and alternately allow us to run the AC all day and have full hookups.
We will be arriving on Sunday and regular rates apply prior to the festival.
We will look forward to the days prior to the festival to check out the area and visit with relatives. Not to mention getting some rest.
Best if luck with your decision and I will gather more information and post it In my "Bringing a RV to Bonnaroo".
So now that it's February and the KOA is booked, who is staying there? Chime in and tell me if its your first time there or if you have been there multiple times.
We will be arriving Sunday before he festival to watch some of the load in.

See you then.
I just grabbed my ticket and am joining some friends in one of the KOA cabins they get every year! Third 'Roo (2010/2011) for me and first time at KOA and will be having a blast!

Sounds great !
This will be our seventh time attending and our first at the KOA. In years past we did the VIP route.
After ordering our tickets on Saturday this is less expensive by a couple of dollars even with staying the extra days (since we are arriving on Sunday at the KOA). Then there is the savings on fuel that we would normally use when staying in VIP.
Maybe we could get a Inforoo / KOA meet up on Wednesday evening?
We'll look for you Bug! My wife & I will be doing KOA again - 4th year there (1 GA year & 5 VIP years before that). Can't say enough about the comfort and awesomeness that is the KOA 'roo experience. We'll be on the same site as pictured above (Site 18 for life!) . . . have a little 13ft Scamp trailer now, but Barb & Jerry let us stay on our same 'tent' site since we don't have a bathroom and don't need full hookups; only water & electric. Stop in and say "Hi!"

This will be my fourth year at the KOA, and second year in a cabin. Worth. Every. Penny. Mine is second to the right of the movie screen, I think. I usually have a purple shirt on. Stop on by; I will have many good Michigan beers

How much does the cabin run and how many people fit?

Thanks, I will send you a message with our contact information.
When are you arriving? We will be there the Sunday before to check out the area and do a little relaxing before the festival starts.

We won't arrive at the KOA till Wednesday.
If you haven't been, and like that sort of thing, I recommend walking the wall at Old Stone Fort State Park. Some interesting history there - it's a 2000 year old 'fort', not a Civil War fort . . . about 10 minutes from the KOA
For anyone interested, I have a campsite available at the Manchester KOA (with full electric, etc.) that I unfortunately cannot use this year due to timing with work. First time in four years missing out on the awesome Bonnaroo and KOA experience.
Shoot me a message if interested - check-in on Wednesday, June 11, check out on Monday, June 16 for two people (additional people can be added through the KOA campground for an additional fee).
In case anyone is curious, the Manchester KOA doesn't have anything electric left. I made a reservation on Jan 7th and paid $1070.06 for a Wednesday-Monday reservation in Overflow. No idea where that is, I will ask closer to Roo. There are 2 people ahead of me so if they have 3 cancellations, I will get a regular electric site. Fingers crossed but highly unlikely.
Jerry said they were having a water slide installed as we spoke! Very excited to be going back to Roo this year! My first was in 2008 for my 40th birthday. Yes, I'm old.

Welcome to Inforoo !
You will have a fantastic time. Jerry and his Wife are top notch. Are you going with a RV or tent? Either way you will have nice bathrooms, pool, quietness and ease of entering and exiting the festival. We are not attending this year but have plans to return, it will be and only be if we can stay at the KOA. We arrived on Mondays in the past, very nice to arrive a couple of days before and relax. I'm sure Wednesday will be great as well.
I have a very small camper and will probably bring a Jerry-approved generator to charge my battery. Inverter only generators allowed, he didn't mention a time restriction. I'm going to try to go earlier to check out the area.
Thanks for the warm welcome and for your efforts on the RV thread. Really appreciate it!

Maybe 100' extension cord might do the trick if you are only charging batteries. Good luck, I bet some people might cancel.
I stayed at the KOA last year, it was $1200 for a camper spot last year for 2 people and $250 for each additional person. I think a tent spot was around $900 for 2 people with the charge for each additional person. I am fairly certain that there is a no refund policy, there was last year anyway. You can transfer it to someone else though. A little side note, when you stay there you get first chance at a spot the following year. I can answer any questions about staying there for anyone looking for it.
