We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
It is behind (to the south) of the festival site. I know they (KOA) runs a shuttle service to the side of the Witch Stage. I don't know if you can walk from the campground. Also From my understanding they jack the per night rate up there.
Are you looking to camp in a Tent or Camper? Reasoning for wanting to stay at the KOA?
If you are looking for showers and bathrooms you might consider staying in VIP. It might come out to close of the same dollar amount.

Well VIP last year was around $1,300 for two people. Regular tickets are around $200ish per person. So its $900 more for two. And that is for all the music, camping, showers, food (noon until 10PM), discounted drinks ($3-4 Per) Free on Thursday Night. And Very close to everything.
KOA is great but its not for everyone - its quiet - that would probably be the biggest drawback for most of y'all - people who stay there are mostly in their 30's or 40's or are working the festival in some capacity or another OR maybe parents taking their teenagers.
On the plus side for the last two years they have LIMO"S (yes real limo's) that drive you from the camp site to the side of the which stage - 24 hours a day, Prior to that they gave out staff bracelets that were basically priceless - we were kings of the world!
KOA has shade, clean restrooms; a pool and hot tub and don't forget shade. No bag inspection on the way in is a big plus - we saved tons of money on beers.
The campsite is basically right behind the main stage - late night you can hear the music pretty well - Sasha and Digweeds set for example.
Its a long ass haul to get out to shakedown - r e a l long.
The Kings of Leons parents camped in KOA and had a party for the band after their show - some movies star chick was hanging with them - she was in Old School according to my friends.
As far as pricing I think it set us back $700 or so for 4 people for the entire festival. Fair deal in my opinion.

im going to go koa. im on a list. if anyone is interested in sharing a spot please let me know - i think its cheaper to share. they have a pool and a hot tub plus showers and a swiming hole with a falls. they offer limo transport. i am interested in tent only but would consider tent with water and electric. we would go wed and likely head out sunday after the music so i think we would pay for four nights. ill start another post closer but thought id share!
Koa pumps the rates through he roof .. we wanted to camp there 2 days before roo 07 and the wanted $79.00 a night for a spot in the middle of a field no shade no nuttin. so what we did is laid up in Virgina for two days and arrived at the holiday inn for our wristbands (parking the motorhome was a bitch there)@10;00 am was all set up in vip by noon. yogi bear campgound in Va is awsome . rt on the river .. thumbs up

I stayed in the KOA campgrond in Manchester the night before Roo, and it cost about 60 bucks for a pretty rough campsite... All sun, no trees, and really tiny. 60 bucks for one night. So keep that in mind.

Just called - they are charging $1000 for a Wed-Sun package for two people for a tent site; that's just for a piece of land. Each additional person is $250. No refunds.
We drove through the KOA when I was in the employee van one night. It looked really nice and cozy. But if I were going to stay there I would want to have one of those cottages. I'm not going to shell out an extra grand to sleep in a tent.

945 for one site, only one tent only 2 people. 250 extra per person.
The sites left have no shade from what i gather. If i had 3 people willing to share a tent id most likely do it. Pool/clean bathrooms/jacuzzi and such might be worth it but i just cant justify spending a thousand dollars if it will just be me or one more person
I am in quite the quandry right now as i dont know if any of my friends are going this year, no one wants to commit as usual and i am sure everyone is going to say yes a week before the event like they always do!
anyway, either i purchase koa now and hope people go or let it go and it will be sold out ina day or two.
Or i buy a plane ticket and plan on going alone and camping in tent only.....
Or i drive down again most likely a few people will come with? baaaah!

What about VIP? We looked at the KOA a few years ago, but after comparing prices decided to pay the little extra for VIP. The proximity and air-conditioned tent is a huge plus, in my book.

I already have a GA ticket but if i am going solo i suppose i might as well just sell it and buy vip.
Problem is, all of my friends are procastinators and dont like to commit right away and i know there will be like 5 of them who decide to go last minute and cant afford vip
I would tell your friends to buy their ticket now, because you heard it was selling out soon.
A little lie like that never hurt anyone.
Thats a great idea , i can upgrade? I dont see any option for that on the site and i still dont understand why they force people to buy vip tickets 2 at a time. Not everyone has a travel buddy or signifigant other
Its there. Bottom of the page. It's a shuttle and VIP upgrade. The problem comes in as it doesn't have a parking pass. You'd need to buy it to be a third wheel.

I stayed at the KOA for Roo last year and had an awesome experience. I just got my spot there again this year. I think that is the way to go. CLEAN showers, pool and spa. Barbara that runs the place is great. PET FRIENDLY!!!

Truly sorry that its taken me this long to get back to you, Bacon. The cost is broken down into two separate transactions that must be made at the time of reservation. To stay Wednesday to Monday about noon it cost $478 to get a tent site with electric (juice didn't matter much to me but it was an option for no additional fee) I guess the other payment is for the deposit, limo, wristbands to re-enter the kampground came to $582. It may seem steep but it is NO HASSLE. and there is more room than in my last front yard. Taking my teen son too and I believe it will be easier to keep an eye on him there instead of general camping. I might try to hurry, they are selling pretty fast.

i will never camp off of the farm. i understand why some people would be more comfortable camping at koa, but its just not roo IMO. part of the experience is waiting in line, getting a random campsite, walking to centeroo and back, checking out the vendors on shakedown, sharing your food/drinks with the neighbors, all that good stuff.
There were probably about 300 people total camped there at KOA . . . the majority in RVs, but they offer tent sites too, and there are a few small air-conditioned cabins available as well.
The shuttles were two eighteen-passenger vans which were constantly going back and forth all weekend, 24 hours a day. You never had to wait more than five minutes for one at either end (and when you had to wait that long it was because of traffic on the backstage road). . . but I walked a few times and beat the van back. In the picture below, the field behind What stage is staff camping and vendor parking. The tree line at the back of this field (top of the picture) is the end of Bonnaroo property. KOA is on the other side of that tree line. The yellow line is the shuttle route. The blue arrows were our two choices of entrance to Centeroo. As you can imagine, 'lines' or 'waiting' were words that had no meaning to us.
We had stayed there a number of times for roo-buddy reunions in the days leading up to Bonnaroo (but had always moved over to the farm on Thursday morning), so we were familiar with the amenities - the aforementioned pool, hot tub, showers, toilets . . . also there is an outdoor movie screen where they show DVDs of previous Roos all weekend, a catch & release fishing pond, playground, volleyball court, tetherball, outdoor bowling lane, camp store (easy ice access), laundry facilities, large party gazebo anyone can use . . . I'm sure I'm forgetting something. We never took advantage of the stretch limos which would take you anywhere in Manchester, but many did. They were the real thing - they actually used the limos as the shuttles in the past, but Bonnaroo asked them to switch to vans this year because the limos couldn't turn around easily at the end of the route. You can also come and go in your own vehicle as often as you like. Your campsite will have shade.
Barb and Jerry are the owners. If you have any thoughts you might want to do this, call them now and get on the list. They will start calling people soon after Jan 1 to see who wants in. If you decide not to when they call, no worries. But they limit the number because they want everybody who stays there to have "a better Bonnaroo experience than if you were camping on the farm." They truly are great customer-service oriented people. The spots will fill up soon after the line-up drops if not before.
As I said, a tent site for two people plus two GA tix was comparable in price to a pair of VIP tix. Add an extra $250 for each additional person on the site. (but you have all the room you want or need . . . my wife and I set up 400 sq ft of tent/shade footprint) The full-hookup RV sites and the cabins are a bit more expensive. Yes, the prices are way inflated over their normal rates, but it's not because they're gouging you. You're paying for the shuttles/limos and their drivers, and the extra security they have to hire. Note: the security is there to protect you and your stuff; not to hassle or search you. Also, they have Bonnaroo staff onsite on Thursday and Friday to scan your wristband and put it on your wrist so you don't have to go anywhere else to do that.
This was our site. The tree line in the background is the other side of the tree line in the aerial shot above. The port-o-let marks the gate between the KOA and the Bonnaroo property. We were pretty much the last ones to arrive, so we had the worst spot.
