I had about 3 different pair of flip flop sandal type things I alternated between last year.. Some boat sandals that had thin straps sort of like my chocos but thinner, some croc flip flops, and a pair of rubbery reef sandals that went across the top of my feet. The reefs and croc flip flops could be washed of and dried, so I would wear one of the three and carry an extra pair in my purse to swap if I started to get blisters. I picked the three pair because none of them rubbed in the same place, so if one pair caused a blister the others wouldn't touch that spot. My feet were in pretty good shape as far as arch support and lack of blisters, but the mud was awful. I usually don't mind my feet getting a bit icky, but this mud was different... More dirty somehow, so i am thinking about closed toe shoes this year. The only complaint other than getting dirty was that my feet slid around when they got wet... So flip flops can be done.
I was looking for cheap canvas shoes.. Like keds, but they aren't cheap. I found some white ones at walmart for about $5 dollars so I am thinking about buying them, putting extra arch support in them and dyeing them a color I would rather have. If anyone has tried canvas shoes I am interested in how well they worked. I would think they would dry fast and stay on well.
Those of you into Kariza skirts, I just saw Enwrapture Vintage (http://www.enwrapturevintage.citymax.com/homepage.html) has decent prices for many kinds of skirts after comparing with ebay and Amazon. (they even have plus sizes)
More importantly, just realized they're having a drawing for 2 free kariza skirts, 1 for you and 1 for a friend. Winner announced on April 10th. More info here:http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=200499563311741&set=a.160190284009336.40693.109916445703387&ref=nf

LOVE THESE SKIRTS! Thanks for the info. Has anyone worn them in the heat at Roo? Do they cling like crazy since they are silk?
also, if you're into Kariza skirts, I found just searching "silk wrap skirt" finds you similar ones on ebay for cheap. I cant imagine sewing 1 yourself would cost that much also. I have a hard time finding 2 layer patterns that've been matched together that I like. Unfortunately, I'm no seamstress...and my mom's sewing skills are lacking as well. I really need to take a class or something and force myself to use my sewing machine.
If you get Crocs with holes on the top, you'll end up with polka dot feet at the end of the day. It's kinda fun.
I wore Kariza skirts in '08, one at night and another during the day. They weren't so bad, but then it wasn't as hot as '10. I didn't wear them last year. They're polyester silk so don't breathe that well, but are quite floaty.

I haven't worn mine to Roo, but have at other super hot fests (aka ACL). They are great! They don't cling at all. They slide of your skin all soft like and breezy. Be careful what you buy, though. Most of the one's out there aren't actual "Kariza" brand, so there is a lot of fluctuation in material quality. I have 2 from ebay from different sellers. I love one and just kind of like the other. This is my favorite seller: stores.ebay.com/vintagesilkwraps
edit/ I just realized that eBay store is for Enwrapture Vintage. Awesome!

I'm set on a pair of Crocs too. I don't even care if they're the cheap off brand because I don't plan on wearing them except for Bonnaroo (or maybe when I'm gardening in my yard). I just want something comfy!

i always wear my rope sandals at festies (and everywhere else, too). they are cheap ($20) and can last for YEARS. i've had a pair for 4 years and they're still going strong. you can wash em' dry em'. i even went on a jamaican river walk in my pair. and i've Never had a blister from them. they come in diferent knots and from different companies. i'v bought from davesdiscount.com and from nomadicstate.com.
I have a pair of the mary jane Crocs; been to three Roos and have held up great. They will be coming with me again this year, as well as my CarpeDM Sanuks. Crocs are pretty ugly, but they are great for Roo (and for swimming in creeks and rivers). And yes, I get a Crocs tan on my feet after Roo

Here's a pic of one of the pairs of thigh highs I got from Sock Dreams... I love love love them! So easy to whip outta my bag & slip on when it gets a little chilly
Butiambonnaroo I used to have some tall toe socks with that rainbow print and wore them to dance class with multicolored leotards... I loved them then, and I love those socks now! Cute!
I will have to look for the Mary-Jane style crocs after everyone has said such good things! And I may look into rope sandals as well.

I guess it's time I finally speak up. Been lurking for a couple weeks and I absolutely love this thread. Thanks for all great ideas ladies.
Needing some shoe advice. Last year was my first Roo and I wore one pair of Old Navy flip flops the whole weekend, I can't believe they survived. I LOVE flip flops and wear them ALL the time (unless it's freezing outside.) My feet get hot easily and tend to sweat, so what would be my best choice (since I have never owned these brands,) Tevas, Chacos, Crocs,?? I just really want to make sure my feet can breathe at all times and I don't get blisters.

There is a whole thread here on the best shoes to wear
I think if you have shoe confusion, try some on at a store with several of the options, if possible. then, even if you want to buy them online cheaper...you know for sure which you like, how it fits, and what size to get. I'm gonna eventually try some Vibram Fivefingers...and Keens probably. I wear old sneakers and/or crocs for fests at the moment.
I shouldnt have looked on ebay for the Kariza skirts...now I have way too many saved.
^I love my Tevas, too! But it's all subjective. Hence the forever long shoe debate.
Whatever you decide, I suggest getting them early and wearing them around a lot. That way they will be nice and broken in and you will be aware of any rubbing issues long before day 2 of Roo with no backups.
I always end up with a blister on the top of one foot from my Crocs by Sunday, but I just wrap some waterproof tape around my entire foot and move on. And then I forget that this happens and wear the same shoes the next year. But I plan on also having Sanuks this year so I can alternate shoes and hopefully avoid the blister!
I was at a thrift store today and found a cute black dress/swimsuit cover up thing for a dollar. The material would be great for the fest, but I don't want to wear solid black, so I found a cool tutorial on making a long drapey necklace with about 8 strands out of a tshirt and coordinating bracelets. I cut up a hot pink tshirt and made the necklace and bracelets (except for needing to add a few beads), and they give exactly the amount of drama and color that is Roo worthy, and they are a lot lighter weight and comfortable than any other jewelry i own! I am very excited even if I do change my mind a hundred times between now and then about what I want to wear. If you are interested just go to YouTube and search for necklace out of tshirt.
ooh fun! thanks! now that's something i could probably make, yay! there are several different ways I saw on youtube... 1 just fringed and hanging from the hem or something but i didnt like it...but there are tons that people've made on etsy too that are cool. honeycomb type look, scarf, etc. awesome!
this makes me want to tie dye a white tshirt i dont care for and then make some necklaces/scarves
I LOVE the honeycomb one.. I have to find a tutorial or figure out how to make one. That is exactly what I had in mind when I stumbled across the necklaces.
That coke can tab thing is awesome! I don't collect them, but I am starting today. I wonder if that honeycomb one is just alternating slits a few inches long... I will have to give it a shot. So many fun ideas are adding to my insomnia.
lol i know, right? I should be asleep...good thing I dont have anything important in the morning.
Yeah...I dont even drink beer or soda, so I dont know how I'd save them. And I'd be afraid I'd obsess over the honeycomb cuts and get too frustrated or not wear it but definitely looks cool
Just tried the honeycomb thing on literally a scrap of fabric and it seems to be easier than I thought.. I may try this as a scarf or like the shirt you just posted or maybe see if I can turn a tshirt into a cardigan type thing... The possibilities are endless! I will definitely be using a ruler to get the cuts right though...
to those who couldn't make the sew-in, or did and want a part II....I am trying to put together something for May 6 at my house in the Atl. I'm actually registered for a promotion where I may get the use of an awesome machine, along with lots of free stuff. I will find out in a week or two whether I get the sponsorship stuff but it might be fun to plan something anyway.
plus by then I hope that my pool will be open!
I'm going to call it the "Stitch n Bitch"......save the date!
Here are some pictures to help people visualize it:
Also, if anyone saves can tabs, this looks like fun to make, although I'm not sure how it'd do at Roo, but figured I'd still share:
There are different ways to thread ribbons in, but looks fun
ahh i make necklaces and scarves like this ALL of the time. i am constantly thrift-store shopping for random t-shirts... they make really awesome gifts during xmas time.
