p.s.-to you girls that have long torsos--have you ever considered the maternity department? i know it seems crazy, but the shirts in the maternity section are a bit longer, and they're not always cut for a huge baby bump. they seem like they would be flattering to bigger-chested girls also. i have a couple of maternity shirts that i got on clearance at target (liz lange) and they were just too adorable to pass up. no one can tell that they are maternity shirts, (they just look like regular baby-doll cut shirts, with one that is looks completely normal except that the sides are gathered a bit) and i actually get compliments on them. it's just a thought, hopefully it works for you girls
I don't have a super long torso, but I am not ashamed to say I frequent the maternity section at Target - Liz Lange has super cute baby doll style tops that are really comfortable! I usually get a XS or S and it fits me perfectly (I'm usually a M or an 8/10). Some of the shirts will look too roomy through the stomach area, but some will just look billowy and not maternity at all. So I totally recommend maternity clothes haha! Also, maternity sweatpants are super comfortable... the ones with the panel that you fold down. Hey, whenever I get pregnant way down the line, I won't have to buy a whole new wardrobe!
i plan to keep an eye on these and see if they go on sale before bonnaroo, so i'll keep you posted.
i also found this^, which is a halter with a built-in bra. it has actual cup sizes, so this seems like a much better way to go for us larger-chested girls. the sizes go from 34B-38D. i wish they had these in stores so i could try one on first. but i think at $48, it will end up being a non-bonnaroo shirt. it's really cute, though!

im a first time roo-er, i just moved her from los angeles to be near my boyfriend. he pointed me to the fashion thread bc he couldnt answer my questions :-)
anyway, any of you gals from central jersey? i need friends and dont know how to make them! im 3000 miles from my friends and i work as a youth minister so i dont meet people my age haha.
ps. my kariza is on the way :-) hope to see you lovely ladies at roo!!

Wow stringbeanjeanoo, that's a tough one. I've been a trailing spouse before, so it can be hard when the guy already has a built-in network, but you don't. Best I can tell you is that it helps to pursue an interest out in the community which has regular events. Anything from a volleyball league to the local Dems or GOP (whichever flavor you like; they should be hoppin' for the next few months!). Check the calendar in whatever is the local "cool" weekly paper (every community seems to have one). There should be local club meetings listed, if it's like most of them. Our city and county governments actually handle organization for the local sports stuff (like volleyball, bowling, softball, etc.) through a department of games and recreation. Local political offices should be easy to find. Certainly, candidate offices should also be available. Depending upon how old you are, if there is a college or university in your town, you might want to check events over there. Film marathons. Lecture series. Night classes (took a cool screenwriting course on pass-fail at UVA, here, and met some really fun people). If you have a hobby, like cooking, check the local kitchen stores. Often, they'll offer lessons for an evening to whomever signs up. Same for local wine stores. They sometimes will have teaching/tasting nights. Just follow your interests. You'll do fine!

this is going to sound random, but check out craigslist. One of my best friends moved to Chicago about a year ago and the people at her job weren't friendly and she was very sad and lonely. Then on craigslist, she found a running buddy and a group of girls who meet every so often for happy hour or they'll have girls-only dinner parties. And now she's actually starting to like Chicago
oh, and whilst perusing the vicky's secret website, i found their line of "layering shirts." i'm thinking these would be super cute with a bikini top underneath or even one of the bandeaus they sell to wear with them. perhaps a bit pricey, but some of them are on sale right now.

I'm thinking about getting a few of these bandeaus to wear under my karizaz with some styles and a shirt I have that is very low in the back, etc. They are very cute and versatile

I moved cities last year (not near as far as you, but I still neded to make new friends). Luckily there are some cool people at work, but I met most of my new friends when I joined a new church here. It's amazing how hard it can be to make new friends as an adult. Good luck!
- The bra dresses at Vickie's: I ordered a few last year in hopes they would work for Bonnaroo. I ordered a spaghetti strap fit and flare style, a scoop necked cap sleeved style and... something else. They still have the same styles on the site.
They sucked. They ran weird - a large was too tight in the hips, too long in the body (though could be good for you long torso ladies) and the scoop was a weird neck and the straps were not adjustable. The shelf bra was probably good for maybe a B-C as that it had thick fabric and wide elastic and seemed supportive. However the fabric was a heavy ottoman-ribbed knit that stretched out, looked prone to fading and clinging with sweat. Not Roo-worthy.
- That babydoll style tank that one of you did a photo of that was from Vickie's but you had one from Target? I have that babydoll from Vickie's and I love it. I have it in Kelly green. It does make me boobalicious, but my bra doesn't show and my tummy is not on display. I wore it Thursday for Bonnaroo on the ride down and then that evening. With a cotton bra (VS as well and in hot pink in case it showed) it kept the top from sliding around (knit on knit is almost like Velcro).
- The Vickie's bandeau shown - I am ordering it in Kelly green to go under their wrap 3/4 sleeve tee int he same color to have modesty/bra coverage. Think it would be cute for even work if the bandeau works as I hope it will (just cover the bra area and most of the cleavage). When I get it I will report back, and I will try it sans bra to see how it works for things like Karizas.
- I wish dcbee's top came in something other than black and yellow... I want it for me but can't be her Roo twin. We already did that buy purchasing the same scarf/pashmina without each other knowing. Same color!
- My kangaroo-pocket dress was on sale fro $20; it's navy pique, short sleeves, a-line style from the Isaac Mizrahi for Target collection. A bit heavy for Bonnaroo but fun otherwise. Think would be cute in summer and I wore it this week with tall boots and tights! BTW found it online in only XL and it's more expensive online tinyurl.com/3cmht8 (changed the url so it is linkable)

Aw, those bandeau tops do look like they'd be good under karizas and stuff...that would probably finally convince me to get a kariza if not for the fact that...once again....they are just not made for small chested girls. I can only imagine how ridiculous I would look trying to wear a bandeau top!

I'm not from Jersey but I totally relate to this! I moved to the chicago area to be with my boyfriend in April...I had lived up here for a couple years and then moved back home. But still it's very hard to meet good friends when A) you are not single B) you're a little bit older and not in school c) you work with all older people Craigslist scares me a bit so I haven't tried that route.... I hang out with a few girls I knew from college but I still haven't met any girls with the same interests really (festivals, music) Also I personally think Chicago or probably any other bigger city is tough...people don't seem to be as open or trusting.

^^^I had this friend in high school that I used to do that with (we looked amazingly alike w/o being related). We would also go to out of town parties and meet a buch of people then switch coats and get them all confused. It was funny... When I was 16.

I did, however, buy a really nice cami at walmart last year, just a plain dark blue and it's held up better than my express one I found at Marshalls a few years back...
I bought a couple at New York and Company a whiiille back.
They're AMAZING, and look great alone or with a cardigan or what not. And they show just enough cleavage to be considered cute, and not unattractive.
So check out New York and Co.! I always find good deals and they always have nice stuff!

A while ago someone was suggesting to wash your face really well the week before because all the dirt and sweat, etc will make you break out. I know my skin was not happy with me while i was there. These wipes work really well for your face.
On the subject of washing your face and keeping your skin clear, I did a mask the night before I left because I knew there was gonna be breakout drama. I washed my face every morning and a couple nights with bottled water and face wash. This year I might bring a travel sized face scrub to really get at the grime. Those wipes look convenient though! I didn't have any problems with breaking out. I think all the sunshine keeps the oil production at bay.
I was the one who didn't wash her face the week before. I swear, I sabotoge myself in some way before every trip. Like I'll be doing fab on my diet, but right before a trip, I'll have cheeseburgers every night. Why? I know what I'm doing, but can't stop myself.
And I wash my face every night. Remove my eye make-up, then wash, then treat and/or moisturize depending on my face's needs that night. But the week before Bonnaroo, I wouldn't have washed my face if a gun was pointed at it.
I need to work on that.
But I've used those Olay cloths in the past and they are awesome - they get all foamy and are very gentle.
These days I use ones from Ponds that are already moist, but mostly just to get rid of my make-up. I follow it up with real face wash, although when I had to use only carry-ons on a trip to SF last year, I just used the Ponds wipes and then some zit cream afterwards and didn't break out at all.

yeah the ones i posted are already wet, but they dont foam, theyre just like a baby wipe,but for the face and dont smell like your changing a diaper haha. I also think i had a thing of travel face wash and body wash that i used in the fountain once haha

does anyone know of any good products for blackheads? my face stays pretty clear, but lately i've been getting blackheads all over my nose! i hate THEM! I want to go to Sally's and get this silver tool you press over your nose to get them out, but I would really like to find a face wash that works. Does anyone have any good products in mind?

clean and clear makes one specifically for blackheads and i think it worked some if you used it regularly but what worked REALLY well for me was natural/organic soap bars, i was really surprised.
I have blackheads on my nose too, Kristen. Proactiv face scrub is the ONLY thing that helps them, and they don't ever go completely away unless I get a facial. But exfoliation, both with little scrubbies and salicylic acid, is really important. Right now, both Proactiv and facials are too expensive, so its a vicious cycle of covering them up with makeup and then always washing the makeup off as soon as I can to not worsen them! Oh, to be a girl.
i plan to keep an eye on these and see if they go on sale before bonnaroo, so i'll keep you posted.
knowing how the vs operates, i can almost gaurentee that the tees won't be onsale before Roo this year. because we are moneygrubbing and like to charge waay too much for tshirts and tank tops.
Semi annual sale is right after Roo, but something tells me it's gonna be mainly winter-y type stuff or really early spring...i dunno if the shirts went on sale if they would be able to be delivered if you ordered it as soon as the sale started online [about a week before the sale starts in the store and it starts in the store around the 16th or so of june].
