I just love makeup and playing with colors and textures! I'm a huge girly girl, but I can rough it out when necessary!
does anyone shop at sephora.com?
they have such a HUGE selection of brands that are sometimes hard to find, and their own spehora lines are pretty enexpensive and have great quality makeup!
you also get free samples with your orders! I love sephora!!!
So I bought some Nars pressed powder - I like Nars and I liked that the container was thin and rectangular because then it's not so obvious in the back pocket of my jeans when I go out at night.
Then I loved the color so much that I went out and bought the powder foundation and I LOVE it. I had Make Up Forever powder foundation, but the color was a little too yellow for me. My skin tone is yellow-ish, but I found that I needed something to counter it a bit
i'm not big into makeup. i wear very little as it is, and will only wear eye makeup if i'm going out, or just feel in the mood
otherwise its just some powder, blush, and some softlips lip balm
I use mostly Clinique, too, but I hate their mascara! Actually I haven't found any mascara that I really like. I always end up with racoon eyes by the end of the day

yeah, that diorshow is KILLER.
also, I just got the cheapie Cover Girl Lashblast, and it's pretty awesome. My lashes look HUGE.
Another classic fave of my is Lancome Hypnotic.. you get huge lashes with that also!!!
But Nars is an amazing brand... one of those I have to save up for!!! But they have this blush called Orgasm that is bomb...
And I love Two Faced products.. they always make fun and pretty makeup.. I wish we had a Sephora store around here! I'll just settle for shopping online!
ok on to serious business and im counting on you guys for a totally straight answer. i wont smite you! im a little older than most of you goddesses. im 40 but i tend to pass as younger than that. i have sort of a katie holmes haircut which is very easy for work, however, its not long enough for a ponytail. at the same time - its not super short either. its a bear when i work out because ic ant keep it up but its a little too long to keep down. at the same time i really enjoy the easy cut.
i have found that i can put my hair in two low ponytails instead of one. this holds very well and it keeps the hair off my neck, however, i wonder if this look is just way too young for public viewing. i realize that this is not a fashion event but i really dont want to look like an old person trying to look young or like a nerd tryijng to look like a hippy. i just want my hair off my neck. do you think it would be ok to wear my hair in two ponytails .....or should i just grow it out now and cut it after roo - dont want to go any shorter.
I'm 43. Check out the avatar. Pigtails at the 'Roo. It's really all about comfort. If you feel comfy, that's all that matters!
And Revlon used to have a lash tint that I loved. It wasn't as cakey as mascara and unbelievably more waterproof than any waterproof mascara I've ever tried. No one local carries it anymore. I've tried the only lash tint they have on Sephora (can't remember the brand), but it's a lot more expensive and not as good. Hope Revlon hasn't stopped making theirs. Still watching for it, whenever I'm in a new town! ************* That actually got me looking around for the lash tint. Found it for under $7 at Perfume Bay! Only available in black, but that's what I wanted. Was a $6 flat fee for shipping, so I ordered 3. Might as well. But that stuff is great, if waterproof just isn't waterproof enough for you. Lasts for 3 days. Not clumpy. Yay!

Has anyone else tried this mascara it is AMAZING!!!!
it's called Fiberwig and I bought it at Sephora. It is basically cutting out the need to false eye lashes. The more strokes you use, adds more of the fibers to the tips of your lashes which allows you to make your lashes as long as your heart desires. It is amazing!!
I'd been wondering about Fiberwig. The problem with me is that my oily skin tends to make mascara end up all over my eyes. Very racoon-ish. That's why I like the tint. It doesn't do that. Anyone with oily skin try the Fiberwig?
Okay, since I blog about this crap, I have probably tried more than many when it comes to mascara:
Imju Fiberwig: Think it works similar to Blinc Kiss Me's mascara and one by Kevyn Aucoin but haven't used those. Fiberwig has actual fibers in the formula so it adheres to your lashes making them longer and thicker without being all goopy. The more you apply, the thicker and longer your lashes look. Oily skin, sweaty, crying doesn't seem to hurt this stuff too much - you remove it with gentle rubbing and water (though I remove with Body Shop makeup remover). Only issue? The product seems to remove ALL curl from your lashes due to the weight. Even one coat and my lashes are straight. Not as bad when layered over another product.
Cover Girl LashBlast: This is the stuff in the orange tube that Drew Barrymore has been pimping on TV. Not as angle-singing awesome as DiorShow, but a darn close second. Think I like this better than L'Oreal Voluminous because I find Voluminous gets thick and weird after just 3 weeks in the tube. Thickens, lengthens, doesn't irritate my contacts, doesn't flake too bad and cheap!
Benefit's Bad Gal Lash: I'm a sucker for Benefit's cute marketing and anything that says Bad Gal on it. Luckily I got a mini size of this stuff because it ain't all that. Can find better stuff in the drug store.
Maybelline Great Lash: Hate this stuff. Only use it for waterproof moments because so cheap and doesn't flake. Don't get the hype.
I have also liked Lancome's Defincils & L'Oreal Voluminous, and been meh about MAC's X and Maybelline's XXL and don't like Almay or Maybelline.
Thanks ya'll for feeding my beauty products reviewing addiction! If you want more, you should check out makeupalley.com/. Honest reviews from real people - so awesome, I hit that site before any makeup shopping trip!

I'll definitely be rocking some pigtails for roo (rootails?) but then I have sort of the opposite problem...I'll be 21 by then but I look way younger, so I sometimes feel like I should stay away from pigtails so as to avoid looking like I'm about 14. But I can't resist because they're just so cute and fun!
And as for makeup...I don't really wear much so I can't contribute to this conversation, haha. I wear eyeliner and eyeshadow sometimes, and once in a while some mascara, but most days I don't wear anything.
Excellent mascara roundup, alieblue! Karma for that. And I'd forgotten about makeupalley.com, a totally useful site. But excellent observation about losing curl, with the Fiberwig. That would be a huge problem, with me. I don't have a lot of lashes, so I (oh so gently) curl what I have. Really good to know how Fiberwig acts under those circumstances. Thanks a ton!

I really love the the Full and Soft by Mayb. its not cakey at all and very natural looking but I am a powder and chapstik girl anyway. I dont even think I brought makeup to roo last year, or a mirror for that matter, its very freeing.

I've never heard of the Fiberwig mascara, but it sounds really good. Having big, beautiful lashes is my number one thing!
alieblue, you're so awesome! I'm gonna add you as a friend on myspace! We should all put our myspace links in our signatures and add eachother, and create an inforoo girls only group or something, lol.
But yes, the new LashBlast by Covergirl is pretty hella good. Just be careful with the clumping; you may want to use an eyelash brush to keep everything defined.
Here are some of my random faves:
DuWop Lip Venom- This stuff is the shiz. It is by far the BEST lip plumper I've ever tried... tingly goodness. Apply this to your lips and you'll have gorgeous, plump lips. The great thing about lip venom is that it plumps the lips and doesn't have you looking like a blowfish.. just supa sexy!
Urban Decay Lip Stain- Okay, I love nearly alll of their products, but their lip stain is amazing. I love glossy lips, but sometimes it's nice to have a sexy, semi matte stain for just one of those days. I dig it in the Envious (a gorgeous pink)
Too Faced's Liquif-Eye- This clear liquid eyeliner transforms all of your favorite eyeshadow shades into super durable, waterfproof, smudge proof eyeliner! It's awesome because you can use all the colors in your current eyeshadow collection and bring new life to them as liquid eye liners! I love this stuff so much.. perfect for a night out when you want a flash of crazy color!
there's so much more that I love, but these are some that I just thought of off the top of my head. I sound like an ad for all of those companies, lol.
But I want to get some of Sephora's piiink collection.. the makeup is ridiculously inexpensive, so hopefully the quality is good too. Which it should be, because Sephora always makes nice makeup
Makeupalley (best website ever!) gave it great reviews as far as being waterproof and long lasting, so that might just make it Roo-worthy! Just keep your makeup bag someplace cool or it'll melt
Oh PS: I love Nars Orgasm blush, it really warms up my olive complexion and it has lasted me FOREVER. Totally worth the money.

Oooh good call on that liner! Not sure if I would take to Bonnaroo but would love for concerts where I dance my makeup off!
I bought my Nars Orgasm blush for my 30th birthday and use it almost daily; just turned 33 last month and have at least 1/4 of the product left - TOTALLY worth the money! ;D
Just wondering - do you think its too "nighttime" for Roo? I do want to be a bit more prettyful this year than I was last year just for fun, but I don't want to look silly. I was thinking that black liner really close to my lash line and some waterproof mascara with my tinted moisturizer and tinted lipbalm?? Keep in mind I have pretty dark skin so black liner doesn't look harsh on me at all...wear it everyday. And I thought the shimmery would be fun...just layer on a bit more for nighttime
