also let me just say- was freaking out that my little friend was going to be coming with me to roo (she came with me last year and I was miserable) but she decided to come see me early so I'm free and clear for the farm! aaaaaahooooooooo
I'm terrified about this. She came with me one year and really cramped my vibes.
According to my pills, she will be there with me. I am trying to get my pills refilled before I leave and then just don't stop taking them.
I just feel like shit for a few days with cramps and such, that is what is the worst. being there was an inconvenience but not as bad as I thought. just the feeling miserable was a bummer

had that problem last year. the WHOLE TIME and I was miserable! 3 months ago when I went for my birth control shot, I asked the doctor if I could schedule my next shot earlier so I wouldn't have a friend visiting during roo and they said sure! Might not be healthy, but I went this week to avoid her visit.

I take 3 months of pills with no break, so I make sure to stop taking them about 2-3 weeks before Roo, so I get mine a week or two before. Works well My gyno explained to me how to time it perfectly and it's really easy.

it was mostly the porto situation that is bothersome during this time i'll keep my fingers crossed for you lol
I get bad stomach issues with mine, so I am going to pharmacy on my way home to get them early. I am allowed to get up to a three month supply at a time, so I am sure filling my script 4 days early shouldn't be an issue. Best part is, its free. My insurance pays for them and I don't have to spend a cent.

insurance is the same with my shot! the bottle of medicine is free and so is the visit to go get the shot. but yeah 4 days shouldn't be an issue!!!!
I didn't stop taking pills a couple of weeks ago so that I wouldn't have it during Counterpoint, then quit taking them the day I got home so it would come before Bonnaroo. Worked like a charm! I had horrible cramps though so I'm definitely not going to do that very often!

I am sure I will be regretting the decision next month, but fuck it. That's a whole month away.

i had calculated that tomorrow was the latest mine could start if it was going to end before we left. this morning, i was thrilled by the cramps burning through my body. true victory!
All I have to say is IUD. It's been a pleasant, visitor free six years for me.
Two things:
1. I turn 40 October 29, I think I am past the point of that thing. 2. This girl I know, her stepmother forced her to get that when was was 13 and her body stopped developing, she never got more than the triangle, training bra boobs. Ended up getting a boob job when she turned 22.
That story alone, made me never want those, even though I know that she is the exception, not the rule. I only just got on birth control for the second time (first time with the nuvaring and had HORRIBLE experience) in my whole life after I left my ex. I really hate them all to be honest.

nuvaring was awful for me. not only did it come out a lot, but gave me horrible migraines.

Ha, I turn 40 five days before you! And after surprise baby #3, I begged my doctor for both BC pills & the IUD. Together. Because I had already had one bc pill baby. She laughed. Safety first.

I never had those issues, I had all the others. Discomfort during sex, dryness, lack of sex drive and was always uncomfortable down there. I used them for almost two years. I was in my early-mid thirties, had never used birth control before and had no idea that it was the nuvaring causing the issues. So once I realized, I got off, didn't get back on anything until this year. I have a reminder set, and I take it will all my allergy meds. No weird side effects, my cramps are less but my stomach issues are still really bad, but no worse than when I was on nothing. OH, and no I think I am pregnant freak-outs, like I would do to myself because I am a big ole weirdo.
My gyn hooked me up...I don't have a gap in my pills anymore, so there is no visitor. Ever. And I'm with you on the nuvaring-made my migraines out of control AND it was gross and didn't stay in place. Yuk.

YAY Scorpio 40 birthdays!!! Even on the pill I don't have sex during when I would be ovulating. I have heard about those 2%'er babies.
Not to get off topic of fashion but I've been thinking about doing the IUD because I hate having to take a pill every day. However, I'm 30 and my boyfriend (soon-to-be fiance hopefully) and I are wanting to have kids within 5 years. Is that going to be a problem?

I know NOTHING about IUD's but I was on depo shot for years. When I got engaged, I went off the BC (he knew) and it took a long time for my body to have a period and get regulated again. We got married 2 years later and it took us 7 months of trying to have a baby before I got pregnant. Not sure how much was the shot, if at all, but I knew when we started discussing possible future babies, I tried to clean up my body.

I have the implanon/nexplanon insert - it goes into your arm and is the size of a matchstick. I don't know why this form isn't used more often, as it's the most effective type of birth control on the market. it's worked absolute wonders for me and I have no period. it lasts 3 years and I'm told that, if I ever wanted to, I would go back to normality a month or so after removing it - i.e. could have kids shortly after.
anyway, I think it's better than an IUD - there's no risk for it getting twisted (EEEEK) and it is virtually painless to have it put in.
After getting a DVT & PEs shortly after changing my pills around, I am terrified of (and banned from using) hormonal BC methods.
I do miss being able to control my "visitor" though.
You got those from Birth Control? What kind were you on? Can you get those on ANY?
There is a degree of risk with any hormonal BC methods (pill, shot, certain IUDs), but some have a higher risk than others. I was switched over to Gildess FE months before my incident.
I always knew there was a risk, but most doctor's don't bother mentioning it to young/healthy patients. The risk is there, though. Lots of things I've read have said the link between BC and DVT/PE is wayyyyy under reported (drug companies and all...).
So what’s the link between deep vein thrombosis and birth control? “The hormones that are in birth control pills (synthetic estrogen and progesterone in combination pills) as well as the hormones in hormone replacement therapy and the surge of hormones when a woman is pregnant lead to changes in the blood that promote thrombosis, or clotting," said Natalie Evans, MD, a vascular medicine specialist at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. "In most cases the baseline risk of thrombosis for young, healthy women of childbearing age is quite low, so even though birth control pills and pregnancy increase the risk of clotting, the overall risk still remains quite low. Some newer, so-called third-generation, oral contraceptives have been found in some studies to carry a higher risk for blood clots. That makes a conversation with your doctor about your risk factors and the pros and cons of specific brands of birth control a smart idea.

I am on year seven & I love mine. I use Mirena. I do know others who did not like it though. FTR, I have never had an issue with hormonal bc, so maybe that's why I like it. Supposedly, you are supposed to be able to get pregnant as soon as it's removed. And it goes along perfectly with your five year window, because you have to replace them every five years. Some suffer some side effects, so do some research before you make a decision.

I was on depo for 5-6 years, all thru college & beginning years of marriage. Everything I read said it was supposed to take 9-18 months to get pregnant once stopping it. I got pregnant in one month. Hence surprise baby #1.
