Last year was my first Bonnaroo and I brought my Chacos and a pair Keen trailblazing/running "boots". The boots were too heavy on my feet and just overall felt uncomfortable in the roo environment. I guess Friday morning/Friday afternoon my Chacos started to rub raw on certain places on my foot. It was pretty uncomfortable to walk the rest of the weekend. Anyone else with Chacos experience this or know how I can avoid these blisters? Maybe if my straps should all be tight or all be loose? I'll probably bring them again just for convenience and look into a second pair of closed toe shoes.
I have a couple pairs of Chacos and love 'em. I would recommend getting them wet while wearing them early. Gives the straps some time to adjust to your feet (and visa versa) before you really need them for something like Bonnaroo. Shower in them -- seriously. It's an investment in future comfort.

I'll probably start wearing them around more once it gets warmer. I'll try the shower trick too! thanks
Whiskey Militia has a HUGE selection of Sanuks on sale right now - I picked up two pairs for $24 each. They are all listed in the footwear category on the private stash page, which also has a lot of other good deals.
I haven't read back through the thread, but I am sold on Sanuks. super comfy, breathable, and no stubbed toes! that being said, I will definitely also pack a pair of mud boots- got stuck in 2009 without proper gear and had squishy toes all weekend.
edit: I also love a good pair of Chacos, Keens or Teva sandals.
Actually, some cheap slippers that you can throw away after would be great for hanging at camp!
i have my "festi slippers" i wear at camp every year, it should be noted they are replaced at the end of every festival season as well. but i could never do a fest without my camp slippers. i highly suggest them. get ones with a hard bottom though.

My Sanuks just came in. Holy God they are comfy. I was worried because I have wide feet, but these fit just great. The true test will come when I actually walk in them all day, but they seem well ventilated and feel great just walking around the house.
I bought a pair of Funk Shways and Donny's. Both size 13. The Funk Shways fit more snugly than the Donny's. Not sure which is better yet. Can't wait to give them a true test drive! Is it Bonnaroo yet?

I wear my Sanuk CarpeDMs as much as possible at Roo after we lost a Inforoster some years back and Sanuk made this version in his honor. I rotate them in with old running shoes because those have conformed to my feet pretty well, and I've taken to wearing lightweight Smartwool socks all the time because the natural fiber is best at cushioning and wicking.
So I can't find the Carpe Dm in my size anywhere they are the only sanuks I've ever bought/worn so I don't know about any of the other styles are vagabonds the next best thing?
Last year I brought a beat down pair of tennis shoes and the rest of my group only brought flip flops. Definitely a rookie mistake, my feet were screaming by Friday afternoon. I am investing in a pair of Sanuks this year.

The Whiskey Militia sale mentioned in the post above yours is the way to go. Less than half price on Sanuks, although I can foresee everyone showing up in matching purple Donnie's ... not that there's anything wrong with that.
Woo, just bought 2 pairs! I really am incapable of turning down shoes, especially at those prices. At least I won't feel bad if they get totally beat up since I didn't pay much for them.

Just ordered per your suggestion... I erred on the conservative side an went with Black and Charcoal

Nothing wrong with that. Now we can be seen together without people talking about us. I save my black ones for formal occasions.

I have found the best rule of thumb to be having two pairs of comfortable shoes on hand, if you can. No matter how comfy any one pair I have might be, it's helped to alternate each day so that different pressure points are hit. Last year, I switched between Toms and flat Steve Madden ankle boots and that seemed to be the best recipe for me so far.

First time going to Bonnaroo this year and I'm just wondering.. Would classic rubber rain boots be okay to being for wet weather? Or would that be too uncomfortable or?? What do you think is the best option for wet weather?

first off, someone will undeniably recommending going barefoot, DON'T DO IT. you will eventually have to go to the bathroom and brown shit is brown shit in a portapotty, don't want any sort of confusion over what you're stepping on in there.
I stole my little sister's short rainboots last year (they were really cute!) because my regular rainboots were just too tall/hot for TN.
My plan this year is to head over to target and grab some cheap $15 boots that I don't particularly care about since they'd really be more of mudboots than rainboots anyways
edit: huh, turns out when you curse, it automatically changes it. I legitimately couldn't tell for a while if you guys were manually typing quack (the duck noise, not the f word) the whole time or if it was doing it itself. learn something new every day!

If you mean the big, tall, ugly muck boots, yes, bring them if you have them - doing so helps prevent extreme rain and mud! Seriously though, I will bring mine again and hope I don't feel I need them. I encountered some mud in 2010 and last year, but not enough that I considered breaking out the boots. But I'm sure some other folks here can tell you that there can be some serious mud if we get unlucky. If you don't have a pair and don't foresee wearing them anywhere else, you could wait until the day before you leave and check the weather reports, or just wear old shoes and plan on trashing them and having wet feet if it gets bad. Everyone has a different tolerance for muddy feet, and it will likely be very warm, if not downright hot or scorching.
I nearly got stuck in mud one time last year when trying to outsmart all the smart people who were avoiding some clean portos in Pod 1 because there was nothing but slkoppy mud in front of them. Nearly lost a shoe, and I HATE getting my feet too filthy. Didn't try that again, but the rest of the time was okay.

Yah, those are the ones I meant! I figured they might be hot/uncomfortable but I guess it's definitely better than wet muddy feet.. I'd definitely pick uncomfortable over wet feet any day. Packing space is definitely not an issue either, as I have an extended cab pickup truck and only three of us going, so I think I'm just going to bring a variety. Can always narrow it down to save on packing space for future years!

I bring my mud boots, simply because ya never know, my opinion sanuks were not comfortable for me, but yet I have high arches, I actually walked around in my memory foam skecher flipflops all weekend and my feet never hurt me. but I don't suggest flipflops for everyone, they can be somewhat annoying if you don't have a pair with good tread on the bottom.
