alrighty...im not sure if i want to wash my hair while im at roo...the not showering thing doesn't particularly bother me, but sometimes my hair can get really really gross if i don't wash it. we were thinking of taking a bucket for hair washing...any advice? should we bring anything else?
or any hair styles that can cover up the gross, unwashed mess?

We just brought a big 2-3 pint plastic mug and jugs of water to refill at the station...I washed my hair just about everyday. Made me feel like a new woman. I vote for hair washing

I'm with becca, a hat/scarf/bandana will be your best friend
i wouldn't mind rinsing my hair, but the thought of the whole shampoo/conditioner/brush etc routine seems like it could get tedious
yeah rinsing is a good move for sure, but yeah... at langerado i wrapped my bandana round the front of my head like a head band to keep it out of my face and then pinned it back with bobby pins..but the weather wasnt as hot/miserable/sweaty as roo is

I go with the washing at the troughs approach. Even with trying to do that each day my hair was disgusting, but you have to do your best not to let it bother you. Bring a travel sized bottle of shampoo and maybe a big cup of some sort so you don't have to try to cram your head under the faucet.
If you decided not to wash it, then I would say either a scarf/bandana like everyone else said or maybe braided pigtails - they're cute and they keep it from getting all tangly.

thats what i did last year (the bandana thing)...the good thing last year was the dust, it coated my hair which made it not look unwashed. i guess i will just see what my hair issues are when i get there to decide completely and just bring stuff for both options

I had long hair last year and other then a rinse in the fountain on Friday - I just kept it braided and a bandana on it - this year it is not as long and will just do the same - but I am blessed with hair that does not need to be washed everyday anwyay

Just make sure to keep it semi-brushed. My best friend had hair that got into a tangled mess before the weekend was over in 06. I felt so bad for her. :/

Just got off fo the phone with Arlene she said thank's for thinking of the bucket as this is her 1st Bonnaroo, and from this web site it will be the last time she doesn't go VIP. So yes even without going she's willing to go more than once "just have to have clean potty with water and lights".

When I camped, I woke up early and went to the water stations with my shampoo and towel and washed my hair. I put some mousse in it and let it dry wavy and I was happy with it. My hair gets very greasy if I don't wash it every day, so not washing it for me is just not an option.
Oh yeah and once it got hot I put it up in low pigtails to get it off my neck but I could also wear a hat

You can wash and rinse a pretty long, thick head of hair with one large bottle of water (like a large Evian bottle). I know because I did it for three weeks while traveling in Asia. The best part is you won't have to wait in line at the trough if you remember to fill it at some point during the day.

Well you can find us we'll have a solar shower! Worked fine last year. I'm just hoping we get closer to the water holes so we don't have to lug the water as far.
i was thinking about investing in some dry shampoo and leave-in conditioner.
me too. I don't really want to by expensive dry shampoo just for festies though. Anyone know of anything cheap?
There's this stuff called Psssssst that you can get at the drugstore. I think it's basically just aerosol baby powder, but it has a non-baby smell. A little floral-y maybe? It's a little off, but definitely nonoffensive. And if you put too much on, your hair definitely turns white, but then you can brush it out, just like you would regular powder.
It's always on the very bottom shelf, at the edge of the haircare section, at my CVS.

I really thought dirty hair would bother me last year but I just wore bandanas the whole time and didn't even think about it. It never even crossed my mind until I got back home. BTW-its good for your hair to not wash it for awhile, keeps it soft especially in the hot sun.
I don't have to wash my hair every day usually, but at Roo I always wanted to get the dust and grime out, so last year I just brushed it out really well and then rinsed it with a bottle of water at least once a day, and that did the trick pretty well. I washed with shampoo once and it felt amazing But my thick curly hair traps shampoo so it took about four regular sized bottles to wash and rinse it all out... kind of wasteful, and I was standing in a big puddle afterwards. I'm pretty sure we are bringing a solar shower this year, so hopefully I can enjoy more hair washing. But really, you're probs not going to have a good hair day the whole four days, so bring lots of hair ties, scarves, headbands and hats! I vote for pigtail braids too - keeps your hair off your neck, looks really cute, and keeps it from getting tangly and gross.
